Wrongful death?
Meanwhile in the Court of Common Pleas, there is a wrongful death lawsuit, case number 2011-CP-04-02579, against and Edwin Moore of 1311 Agnew Rd., Starr, SC.
According to the the case file Edwin Moore is accused of driving one of three cars that struck Elizabeth Walsh, a pedestrian walking along SC Hwy 81.
The vehicle being driven by Edwin Moore was a Lincoln Navigator. The driver, Edwin E. Moore produced a drivers license stating his address as 1311 Agnew Rd., Starr, SC. The Lincoln Navigator was registered to Christine Moore of the same address and bore the license plate "GOLFGAL."
Is this the Eddie Moore that is on County Council? Why has there been no mention of this case in the Anderson Independent-Mail?
will wait to comment on an answer regarding identity
Eddie Moore's filing with the state Ethics Commission has the same address as the Edwin E. Moore in the case file. And Eddie Moore's real name is Edwin Eugene Moore.

According to the following articles, Ms. Walsh was struck and killed by the first car that hit her, a Toyota Camry driven by Jesse Oliver, Sr. Mr. Oliver left the scene of the accident but returned a short time later.
The Lincoln Navigator, driver unnamed, pulled over after driving through the scattered groceries. The articles do not say whether it struck Ms. Walsh.
Then a Pontiac Grand Prix, driver unnamed, hit and dragged Ms. Walsh's body 100 feet before stopping.
Then a Saturn, driver unnamed, rear-ended the Grand Prix.
Mr. Oliver, a City of Anderson employee, was charged with driving under the influence.
Man charged, released on bond after Anderson pedestrian struck, killed
Coroner: Pedestrian killed by first of several vehicle blows
It looks like Leslie Parker, Ms. Walsh's niece, has already sued and settled with two people over this incident: Mr. Oliver and Cherry W. Hale.
According to tax records, Ms. Hale owns a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix.
I couldn't find a Toyota Camry that Mr. Oliver paid taxes on, but it looks like he registered a lot of 8-15 year old cars.
My guess: Mr. Moore is being sued because he was driving the nicest vehicle and probably has decent automobile insurance.
Attorney Thomas Dunaway represented plaintiffs in all three cases.
Mr. Moore is not being sued by Ms. Parker, the niece, but by someone named William Phillips. There's no mention of Mr. Phillips in either AIM article.
String Cheese,
once again you provided us on Anderson Talk Zone with an impressive package of information. Thanks!

The coroner's report and the accident report prepared by the Trooper investigating the case stated that Edwin E. Moore struck Elizabeth Walsh with his Lincoln Navigator.
Lawyer Dunaway is in financial trouble and will file lawsuits against anyone. This is old news When the economy goes south, ambulance chasers come out of the woodwork.
Without seeing the actual language of this lawsuit against Moore, my guess - based on its date of filing relative to the dates of settlement by two others involved - is this case is a peeing contest among insurance companies built around the concept of subrogation.
That's just a personal opinion based on limited knowledge of this actual filing and could very well be wrong. But far be it from me to screw up a political campaign over what amounts to a tragic accident by bringing up all sorts of possibly relevant legal mumbo jumbo. I'm not a lawyer and have never played one on the internet, and we all know that in Anderson County any public official who is accused of anything is considered guilty until convicted, lynched or run out of town regardless of any actual evidence of innocence.
These are all legal filings and members are within their rights to post them here. I would caution everybody, though, that using such filings to draw conclusions regarding those involved based purely on speculation and political maneuvering is a slippery slope.
Perhaps this is something the AIM should investigate through its "neutral" lens, since it does involve an inflammatory allegation against a "controversial" elected official? After all, Rick Freemantle's case drew top billing on yesterday's AIM website simply because it was postponed and assigned to a different judge. Obviously, "relevance" is a still a moving target in editorial priorities nowadays.
Now if this had been any OTHER individual involved with Anderson County, there would be such a outcry for "justice". I could already imagine the horrific headlines and news feeds from local nazi radio shows. The trials would have already been conducted and sentencing exacted. But lets NOT make waves during a campaign swing.
From all outward appearances, it seems the AIM has once again "protected' one of it's own. Simply scandalous. I fear a conspiracy......
Terrific news reporting from AIM. Leave it to ATZ to be the true investigative arm. AGAIN.
But with Eddie's GOP policies on women, if you can't beat 'em, simply run them over!

That statement sure ain't NO LIE!
Just be careful of that "ambulance-chaser "moniker! While a commonly accepted term of endearment in the lawsuit industry since the 1950's, I know of ONE currently economic-challenged fella who loves to SUE people over that statement!
Seems to me he takes it personally for some reason....

Fraud ... Wow!
I know this is a civil case, but isn't it illegal to tamper with or attempt to dispose of evidence? Lord knows we get accused of that heinous crime on ATZ every time I have to delete an over-the-top post from one of Moore's sycophants.
I'm not accusing. I'm just sayin' ...
More curious is why the AIM apparently deliberately left out his involvement in teh accident even though he was clearly listed on the police reports??
To mention the names of the first and 3rd person to hit the victim and exclude the second can be nothing less than a deliberate act by the newspaper to protect him during the 2010 election cycle..
I would like to know how much other information has been covered up by the AIM involving this current council. This is one more example of how corrupt this County is. Ordinary citizens in this County can't and won't get the true facts of anything that happens here. It's always a one sided skewed version of the truth.

Could there be a little bit of payback involved?

“Moore
asked county attorney Mike Pitts if what Skipper did was legal. Pitts said it
was.
Moore’s
comments caused Skipper to leap to his feet to defend himself.
He
said he would do anything he could for the county and its residents.
And
later, he stared directly at Moore.
“How
did we get to the point that you asked the county attorney if what I did was
legal, which gives the impression that I have done something illegal?” Skipper
asked Moore. “I don’t think we do anything illegal at the sheriff’s office.” ”
Now
folks, less than one week later the Eddie Moore involvement in this wrongful
death suit is brought to public attention after remaining dormant for 2 years
having been conveniently covered-up prior to the 2010 election. This sure does send
inquiring minds over the edge, doesn’t it?
Don’t
fret folks, a 70 year old woman dies wrongfully, the complete facts of her
death are covered-up to protect the reputation of Eddie “The Engineer” Moore
for an entire election cycle and politics as usual continue in Anderson County.
Is it any wonder the stench of Anderson County political corruption/ cover-up floats
around SC and adjoining states? Just a thought!

Makes you wonder what else is hiding in a closet down at the courthouse...
It is all just a matter of sidewalks. You can start at the intersection of SC 81 and N Fant St and go north and with the exception of the strip beside Crater Lake 81 is sidewalked on both sides to Reed Rd. From Reed Rd to the intersection of Hopewell Rd the sidewalk is on the right side only. You can Start at the intersection of SC 81 and River St and go south and you have sidwalks on both sides of SC 81 to where the railroad crosses behind the Orr Mill site. It has a sidewalk beyond the railroad on the left side to the intersection of Diamond St, about a hundred yards. 40/50 % of the sidewalk is in poor condition. Beyond this point, you're on your own. 6 miles of sidewalk to the north, maybe a 1 1/2 miles to the south. I guess that life on the south end of town ain't worth as much as life on the north end. That is a harsh way to put it but what other explanation can their be? The intersection of Shockley Ferry Rd, Pearman Dairy Rd and SC 81 and located about 200 yards beyond Diamond St was reworked over the past 2/3 years ( while work on 81 N was going on) and no sidwalk even at this intersection.
