Little Blue Pills Among the Ways CIA Wins Friends in Afghanistan

The Afghan chieftain looked older than his 60-odd years, and his bearded face bore the creases of a man burdened with duties as tribal patriarch and husband to four younger women. His visitor, a CIA officer, saw an opportunity, and reached into his bag for a small gift.

Four blue pills. Viagra.

"Take one of these. You'll love it," the officer said. Compliments of Uncle Sam.

The enticement worked. The officer, who described the encounter, returned four days later to an enthusiastic reception. The grinning chief offered up a bonanza of information about Taliban movements and supply routes -- followed by a request for more pills. (read more at above link)

Ah, our tax dollars at work.

Hey, maybe we should give four of those to each insurgent at Guantanamo. Then throw 'em into solitary, toss in a copy of "Girls Gone Wild - Kabul" and watch them beat themselves to death. Laughing

If you read through some of the comments they are interesting. Woman outraged the Americans are (a) helping these old guys "rape" women and (b) increasing the population of the poor. (These old guys are likely shooting blanks anyhow.) I failed to see one comment about young women being forced into marriages in the US in some of those questionable "compounds", or some statistics on the increase in rape on developed countries since the introduction of Viagra.

So for the price of a 50 cal. round we turn the tribal leaders into snitches for a  "ah hem".  Some felt this was insulting to the Muslims of the world. I would venture to guess that men are men and would appreciate a medical solution to an old age problem  or if you prefer, an age old problem. <g> Traitors have given up information for less. It creates good relations with the tribal leaders, they get their respect and better control of the tribe being found to be viral men. (Only women will object to that logic.)

Mostly the tactic is simple, brilliant, inexpensive, and non-violent. Brings back the 60's slogan, "make love not war". LOL

JD had me until he tossed in the magazine, their eyes would all burn from the sin of seeing such vileness only an infidel would appreciate.

You know, I always thought that was an anti-war slogan, but Mrs. Tippett just informed me that she thinks it's an anti-MARRIAGE slogan. Does anybody have any idea what she's talking about? Embarassed

By the way, there are a number of uses for Viagra other than love and war. In the summertime, when the flies get too bad, I grind one or two blue tablets up into a fine powder, mix them with water and put it in a spray bottle. Then I spray those pesky flies.

It doesn't kill them, but it's a lot easier because they slow down and you can swat 'em two at a time after that. I wonder if that tactic would work on terrorists? Smile

It's very interesting to read which posters are interested in Viagra.

BTW, Viagra and Alieve look very similar. I got them mixed up one time and now I am more hard-headed than ever. Happy New Year !

Republikin, if that lasts more than four hours, you should go to the emergency room to avoid possible permanent brain damage. Laughing

We no longer have either Viagra or Alleve in this household, you know, since we figured out the relationship between the two. For a long time, every time JD took a Viagra, Mrs. Tippett got a headache that lasted all evening. Strange, but true. Wink

No danger of brain damage here. BTW, that was kind the way you reminded me that I incorrectly spelled Alleve

See there, Republikin? I wasn't trying to correct your spelling. I was just using my own misspelling of "Aleve."

Thanks, Stringcheese, for correcting both of us.

Well after those early hard-headed episodes, I never used the stuff again. So, I didn't have a clue how to spell Aleve. I thought you had it correctly.

Always good to learn something. Besides, I went to USC, where spell'n wasn't
considered importent (see what I mean?).

If you're talking about my correction of your misspelling of flexible in another thread, it was the only thing in your post worth responding to.

Here we were actually discussing the spelling of Aleve.

Well, Hankey, who can forget the song by The Four Aces from 1955: "Love Is A Many-Splintered Thing." Laughing

This thread started with an intriguing (and, I'm assuming, true) story involving the military and went downhill rapidly from there. I'll confess to helping push it down that hill. Maybe it's time to let it go? This one's just too tempting to make crude jokes about for those of us whose muzzles are already well past the warranty period. Wink
