I guess someone has decided that spamming this forum with mutiple posts of the same photo is the mature thing to do.

Yeah, that and the signature line AND his avatar. Hope he enjoys his Cheerios.

Zn706 was one of the original four banned from The Cocklebur by Nick himself. He has a lot to add to this forum, but I hopw that wasn't it. Just before that little episode, he posted on Hankey's DYW "SPAM ATTACK!" At least we were warned.

JD, you're too efficient. I didn't see anything from Zn...

Definitely too efficient, Steelydan. Two of us moderators tackled the issue at the same time and accidentally engaged in OVERKILL. Oops!

I probably should have right-clicked on the photo Zn posted over and over and over and re-posted it. It was kinda funny, and partly true - a pic of an empty football stadium with a caption that said something like, "That's the way it is at ATZ."

It's not that bad here, but, hey, it's the holiday season and the number of posts will be lower than usual for awhile. There's some truth to the photo, exaggerated though it is.

It wasn't the photo that got eveything deleted. It was the repetition, the avatar (the finger) and the signature line (which I won't quote here.) Personally, I wish Zn would contribute to this forum, but he knew the rules BEFORE there was a panel of moderators, and he understands the rules now. He just refuses to accept moderation of any kind.

Especially from the like of people like you who are to worried about what may offend others if you were to actually toss out the cold hard unbiased truth and listen to the resulting opinions that it generates.

You just proved my point with the removal of my last post about you mods killing this place dead as a box-o-rocks.

You really like living in denial don't you?

Zn, I'm going to let that one stand for now. Moderation IS NOT ABOUT YOUR POLITICAL OPINIONS. Doesn't matter if you're left, right or in the middle, and in all honesty, if I remember correctly, your political opinions and mine aren't that far apart in general.

You spam posts were deleted earlier, as was another post. The reasons for deleting the spam are obvious. The reason for the deletion of the other post was your avatar and your signature line. You are welcome on this forum - in fact, your screen name has never been warned by this panel of moderators. And you're welcome to state whatever political opinion you have as long as you do it in a civil, non-obscene manner.

Just clean up your act. That's the same thing Nick asked of you, and you refused. We are not your enemies here, but this is a moderated forum. If it dies, it will do so with or without you. Makes no difference.

zn706 if you refuse to accept moderation as you state, why do you post here. Is it a cry for  attention?

I refuse to accept a lot of things from a lot of people, thats one of the reasons my boss likes me and I still have a job right now unlike a lot of people. Now, if I was seeking negative attention I'd simply strip naked and run down main street or verbally smash you into the ground. Now since you're all about asking questions, I have one for you why do you so gleefully bend over for other people?

And JT you're missing my overall point, many times, well about 99.99% of the time the only thing that can accurately describe a politician, political decision or mandate IS a "obscene" statement. After all that politician may be reading your statement and you do want them to fully understand your feelings for them now don't you? Since we're referring to politicians you want to make it a easy to understand for them as possible and that's why moderation is BS.

Well, Zn, whether you like moderation or not, this forum is moderated. Please change your avatar and your signature line before posting here again. The point of your post is well taken. Your motives are less clear.

This will be your only informal warning. Thanks.

If you go on the Urban dictionary you will find his signature means, "to ruin someones day". Maybe he can just put that on the bottom rather than using a low class colloquialism of the Ebonics group.

zn I don't "gleefully bend over" for anyone. But I understand there are rules in this world. I accept my bosses rules, if I want to work for him. I accept religious rules if I expect to get to heaven. I accept highway rules if I expect to keep my driver's license. There are so many things in life where you must accept (obey) the rules in order to have the benefit. So for you to post here a make a point of flaunting your disrespect of the forum rules shows you don't really want to post here. You want to cause an uproar!

I think you should change your signature line and remove the profanity and not have an obscene gesture as an avatar. I don't see how you have been allowed to continue this long. However I am not a moderator and I am just posting my opinion a a member of the forum.

The issue has been addressed. Time to move on. (Although I do think it'll be back, in one form or another, because of a small group of members whose only goal is to undermine this forum.)

You have pointed out a dilemma the moderation team faces, though. If we delete EVERYTHING an offending poster puts up, then take action against that member, we're accused of being heavyhanded. Invariably, somebody will show up and say something like, "I look at everything he posted, and I saw no reason to ban him."

If we leave everything here, though, we're accused of letting members get by with things that other members have been banned for. In this case, the repetitious posts were removed (we probably should have left one up, but he re-posted his "opinion" picture later, and it's still here), and subsequent posts after a warning was issued were removed.

Banning a member is not taken lightly here. That's why only four screen names remain banned from ATZ, including two who have been banned twice. But if your only intent is to undermine us or (defecate in our Cheerios, so to speak) or to flip the bird to the world, you shouldn't expect to be allowed to do that time and time again. It isn't that complicated.

And, contrary to the lies that continue here and on other forums, nobody has ever been banned for a political "opinion."

By the way, the member who spawned this thread went straight to our sister forum and complained about the action, then said he thinks this forum is "dead" because of moderation. For the record, that was the first post on the other (unmoderated) forum in almost 36 hours. Guess nobody had anything to say anywhere, huh? Go figure.

Yesterday was Christmas Day. It was no surprise that nobody was posting much anywhere. We actually think it's wonderful that members spent time with their families, rather than getting wrapped up in local politics and idle chit-chat with cyber friends. There's hope for mankind in the "age of the Internet" yet. There will always be those who want to ruin your Christmas by spittin' tobacco juice on your new huntin' boots, but, fortunately, they're almost always far outnumbered by those who understand the concept of civility.

I agree with your last post. We don't always have to like the rules to follow them. And even if we feel a rule is unfair the temper tantrum or toilet papering the site is not the way to fix it.

In my many years of Law Enforcement I don't think anyone liked the tickets I wrote including the warnings but I feel they had a positive effect for the community.

Thanks again Moderators for having the unpopular job!
