Steelydan,

The County Council meeting on December 02 was hijacked by a group of residents, with mob mentality. They raised rude behavior to new levels.

ART,

Maybe the "residents" are sick and tired of McAbee and Thompson acting like fools?  If it weren't for a mob mentaility back in the ate l1700's, we would be singing "God Save the Queen", and talking with a bloody funny accent.

These folks have a right.  Thompson and McAbee are not men enough to step up and listen to their concerns.  Right or wrong, their concerns need to be heard and addressed.

Cheerio!

Steely, Art has pretty much summed it up. Art we left after agenda meeting 9a, we were actually there for an item further down, but I knew another public hearing was going to be held on 9b and figured the same crowd would get up and say the same things yet again and she didn't need to sit through that again. One viewing of how the world really is for a 12 year old is enough for one night. Plus it was getting late and it was a school night.

I don't condone ill mannered people behaving badly. Rudeness and it's ever increasing presence in public is a sign of the decline of our great society. That being said, the tone of the meeting was predictable. The way the Nov. 18th meeting was handled dictated anger and frustration would be expressed by the people who would not agree with a buyout. The people who do not believe they were represented and did not have the means to vent want(ed) an outlet. The people who supported what was done want to scream back at those who disagree. The only remedy left is to ask is if the manner employed by Council was legitimate and legal. That is where the people who feel they were wronged should expend all their energy. Once they have exhausted that possible remedy, let it go and help the county heal and move forward.

My hope that the Council votes not to have the last meeting and allow the new Council to pick up the pieces in Jan.

I saw a rerun of the second half of the council meeting last night.  It just seemed like there were a lot of personal vendettas on both sides of the room.   Noone seemed prepared to actually accomplish anything except allocate the spending of as much money as they could.

One of the few things voted on concerned recreation.  I was very disappointed when my council member was the only one not standing up for county residents and reasonable fees. At our exsisting rec center a city family pays $160 and a county family pays $480.  Ms Floyd mentioned city taxes.  I'm sorry but show me where anyone in the city pays $320/yr in rec taxes.  This particular issue clearly showed no concern for knowledge or positive representation for her district.

I just hope the new year brings a more positive and less personal county government.

Does this not consist of personal attacks on those council persons by Mr h ? I thought we were no longer allowed to personally attack anyone.

Personal attacks on ATZ posters by other ATZ posters are different from political attacks on elected officials. You know that. I also think you know the difference between a PERSONAL attack and a POLITICAL DEBATE. Don't you?

I think that the entire Anderson County Council behaves like a circus!!!! I think that they should open up a cash bar, so the audience can catch a buzz while watching all of this crap!!!!! I wonder if the next County Council Meeting will have all of the council singing "We wish you a Merry Christmas" to all of the long-suffering Anderson County residents????

There was no personal attack there, only personal observation.  A personal attack would be to call them fat or ugly.  If you went to the meeting (and I did) you would all know what I am talking about.  Fortuneatly, for the taxpayers and citizens of Anderson County, the percieved power and self-centered governing of Thompson and McAbee are quickly coming to an end.

I think we will see civility back in our local government.  I think we will see campaign promises kept.  Maybe we can get Anderson County out of the comedy store and back to work for the people.

Art,

Did you remain for the duration of the meeting?   Wasn't it funny how Mark Powell, Doug Pope and Dan Harvell basically were the only respondents who addressed the council( several times), and made it clear their views reflected "the entirety of Anderson County" ?   Do they represent YOU?  I know for sure they DO NOT represent us, ALSO taxpayers and homeowners and business owners.  I have tired of these shameful and toxic individuals who claim they represent US speaking for us.  When we speak our views, we are met with the same venemous and belligerent tone as Blogger and her child were.  Nice to be accosted in the halls by the likes of Charles Crowe & his band of racist haters who assault and insult women and children, who make "gun-shooting" gestures at elected officials, who "mimmick" or practice making adolescent faces like a mental midget.  But glad they represent the whole of Anderson, of being the epitome of such VERY CHRISTIAN souls they are.

Surely I shall receive some snot-filled response about WYATT's foul language or attitude.  Surely I will!  And thats fine, whats new??  But I never assaulted, shoved, verbally berated their spouses & children, or created a scene while standing in a "safe & public" forum, surrounded by cops, media and political figures. I cannot recall when I "shot" one of them with my finger-gun.  I cannot recall saying, in Council chambers no less, the racially-charged crap I've heard said about Gracie Floyd.  I cannot recall being such a blatant dick, especially to any family excercising their constitutionally protected right to expression of gratitude for their political process and servants in the proper venue.  WYATT may not be the belle of the ball, but WYATT at least has a teensie weensy modicum of decency to not be like these *ssholes who "represent Anderson County".

Besides..... I save ALL  that hateful s**t  for this rag.  To share, with the hiders & fakes who play like they never practice such devious behavior in public. I save it for those who lie when they say they don't cheat the County, or obtain under false pretense, or take public funds, or represent themselves as devout or rightious when they are simply hateful and bitter creatures, or lie about their status or their political representation, especially when some of us know better. I save it for those who post false and racist garbage on their "websites", and proclaim people not politics.  In essence, those who put the new council in office and will realize the fruits of their backazzed mentality for the next two years.  Hope you have savings left in the bank, cuz yu'll need it for all the pending lawsuits and tax increases.

Folks, we ain't seen noth'n yet. The new kids on the block are all puffed up with their percieved new power, self-centered governing and mob-mentality support from the WAIM crazies. So many have been tainted by hatred for Preston they have failed to see our county slipping away to a group of neanderthals. If anyone on this blog doesn't hear, see, feel the racial overtones, they are deaf, dumb and blind on that subject. Start with Rick Driver's first comment about Mr. Cunningham, "What's He going to do, play the race card?" What was that, a warm handshake and well wishes ? Get real folks. The WAIM crowd makes racial comments everyday. They think they are clever with it, but it comes through. Their favorite code is "I don''t care what color a person is......" then, having made the color reference, they trash Ms. Floyd and people of color daily. All the while referring to Ms. Wilson as a Southern Lady. We get the duplicity in their remarks. Who is going to hold them accountable? Will the new "dirty three" who were backed by the (original, backward) ACTA step up? It's hard to believe they will go against the WAIM/OACTA knowing how they pummeled Greer, McAbee, R. Wilson and Thompson for becoming enlightened once in office. Listen in to WAIM daily as Rick pushes to have numerours County employees fired and programs slashed or obliterated. These people care nothing about roads, infrastructure, jobs or future. They care about power, hate-mongering, self-agrandisement and fifth-grade antics. Of course, Rick cares about advertisng revenues, which is where he's valnerable. Remember that! We'll all be paying for our lapse of attention while the pack of rabid wolves tore at our future. Remember, this is not about public information, knowing where our taxes are being spent, getting back to basics, the people being in control or any of that rhetoric. It's about hate, power and money. Those are three deadly sins. Pardons are hard to come by. Wake up citizens of Anderson County !

I don't think you get it JD. This country and this county are in real trouble. Too many people have sat on their hands and let the WRONG people be elected to run things next year.

The Democrats are in charge next year with virtually NO checks or balances to hinder them. A mear 2 votes from the magic number of 60 in the senate.

And the Nut croud has sucessfully gotten a majority of "their people" on the council, run off Joey Preston although he seems to had the last laugh on them with his buyout, and gearing up to run the county in the dirt.

Only an Acorn JD? I think the freakin tree is a shaking and I am not going to just stand there and hope it was just one acorn.

So VOR by your definition the majority of people who voted in Districts 3, 4, and 5 are "the Nut croud" because they voted according to their beliefs and wanted a change in council? And if the new council members are "their people" does that mean the outgoing council members were "your people"?

Maybe republikin has a running partner and a second acorn has fallen? Smile
