There is enough blame to be shared by all sides concerning the hostile attitude which dominated the past council meetings. Ms. Cindy Wilson and Mr. Bob Waldrep asked many great questions, but they used less than diplomatic ways of communicating them. On the other hand, the other council members and the administration were less than willing to provide sufficient answers.

Who are you and what have you done with the real Art? This is not the answer an "Art" of a year ago would have given! SmileSmile

Wyatt 1 SC,

Although I admire the present council’s political courage in allowing Mr. Joey Preston to leave with honor and dignity after serving our county for twelve years, I also want to understand the other side’s point of view.

Conducting an audit is a promise which the new council members have made, and they are determined to fulfill their promise. However, I do sense that the new council members are also eager to move forward. So, if Ms. Cindy Wilson and Mr. Bob Waldrep insist on visiting and dwelling on the past, the new council will leave them behind with a repetition of a regular 5-2 vote.

-art-kaldas

Audit, audit, audit ! I can't wait. We all knonw the "audit" won't show anything. The WAIM crowd is already beginning to back off for audit expectations with statements like, "all we want toknow is ehere the money is going and hiw much we are in debt. Heck, the State and the Fed's don't know where our money is going and they have no idea of how much the US is in debt.
But, we'll know in good 'ole Anderson County. Yea, right!
Art, you can count on Bob and Cindy carrying on. Word is, they are letting it slip out that the new council members will be voting with them. I guess that means the new members will be under thier influence at the least and control at worse.

Palmetto Native,

Based on my best understanding, the Newly Elected Council members are very aware of the fact that the Administrator is in charge of hiring, managing, and dismissing county employees and officials. At the same time, they are keenly aware that a hostile environment is not conducive to retaining good employees. So, they hope that through a spirit of cooperation and positive communication, many good employees will be encouraged to stay and serve. Creating this new attitude will have to be achieved through building a better relation between the Council and the Administrator.

The New Elected Council members do have opinions, ideas, and passion for moving our community forward. They have not only been talking to each other, but they have also been gathering ideas and concerns from various groups in the county.

I can tell you from direct experience, these new fellas have YET to meet with anyone from our direct area in any capacity what-so-ever, including the return of phone messages or personal invitations. These invitations to meet with constituents in the area, in multiple venues and timeframes, has been extended long before and since the elections occurred, with little response or excuse. Meantime, we still can count on the input and ( at the very least) the courtesy of returned phone calls, from current administration members. I would presume from that lack of response that the new membership is exclusively concerned with wealthy contributors, glad-handing with future political aspirations and shoring up their retrograde agendas in advance. So far, unimpressed am I with the Council-elect.

-wyatt1sc

Oh yea! How is that Bob Waldrep knows so much about what they plan to do?

Wyatt, dear, in which district do you reside? Just wondering? How can all three councilmen-elect be YOUR reps? These folks are still PRIVATE citizens who have a life until January. Till then, let them enjoy the holidays as much as possible. And if you are at the meeting tomorrow nite, bet they will speak to you if you go up and say hello. Just say hello. You may be delighted to find they are human. (Even if they are all Republicans![image]

Come on, you know as well as anyone that they are going about the county acting like they've just been elected to the Presidency! They are as arrogant, pompous and condesending as any we've ever seen. They've only just begun. Lawd, can we endure two years of the three stooges of Cindy and Bob?

Republikin,

I do expect the Newly Elected Council Members to have a short honeymoon with Ms. Cindy Wilson and Mr. Bob Waldrep, but this honeymoon will not last long. Eventually, the Council as a whole will have to move on for the sake of Anderson County, while Ms. Wilson and Mr. Waldrep will be unable to join the team.

I do not think this is exactly what will happen. Now Art has the Council divided with Floyd & R Wilson on one side, C Wilson & Waldrep on another and the new 3 Councilmen on another. That sounds too divisive but it would still give the new Council a majority. Republikin all ready shows she is against the perceived change in power.

Unable and unwilling ! Soon we will flush out the real reasons for all the acrimonious behavior on County Council. Maybe the "new five" will live up to you hopes. Thus far, they have not been encouraging to many.

You bet I'm against the change. The premise of the change was bogus. The newly-elected have thus far demonstarted they will act no differently than Bod or Cindy (that is, partisan and small-minded). Worse, they hope to bully progressives into a regressive economic backslide and lower quality of life agenda. By the time the business community discovers what has happend we'll need anothjer ten years to recover. Meantime, the Upstate (maybe the world) passes us by.

lower our quality of life? Where have you been? we already have a high unemployment rate and high taxes. Our property taxes are higher than almost anywhere in the state.

Also, where are our new jobs.  We don't even have a Teddy Bear.  You can blame the conservatives on council and the newly elected ones all you want, but we got where we are on the watch of McAbee, Thompson, Greer and Preston.  Our taxes are higher before they got to office, and our roads and bridges are in terrible shape.  Where did all the money go?  ADVIL?

Good for you for supporting Michael Thompson.  I guess you were about the only person he kept his word too.  He certainly lied and abandoned the tax payers he represented.  Oh Well.  Good for you.

I wonder where Michael will be working now that he will be off council.  I guess we will see find out tonight.

See you there guys.  I wouldn't miss this show for the world.

Please share where you got yor information that our taxes are higher than almost anywhere else in the state?

I believe that is so factually incorrect as to be almost deliberate...

This "new council"  reminds me of a saying by an old pastor I met:

He said it took a bunch of untrained amatuers to build Noah's Ark, yet a league of master engineers to build the Titanic.

Yeah, maybe, but keep in mind that the Titanic hit an iceberg that wasn't there two hours earlier and wouldn't have been there two hours later. Noah's Ark ultimately hit a mountain that had been there for more than a million years. Wink

Wyatt I am not upset that two of the three people that you mentioned in your post did not get re-elected. I am not upset that Mr. Cunningham is now the Administer. Mr. Preston is leaving. You apparently are having a hard time getting over it. I think it is disingenuous of you to rail against the person who defeated Mr. Thompson (your candidate) because he will not meet with you. He is not even sworn in to office yet.

The subject of your post was people not meeting with you. In my opinion one of the reasons people may not be meeting you are some of your posts on public forums with language better suited for other places. You think it is fun and funny when you do it. But now it may be holding you back.

Better point is, a bunch of sheep herders and forgotten old Jews did a better job with little else but their wits and guidance from someone with a master plan, than a slew of degree'd engineers, a master Captain with decades of experience, and a ship made of steel.

Disingenuous, NOT!  I couldn't be more indifferent anymore that Mr. Dunn has shown his lack of follow-through so far with HIS CONSTITUENTS, not just myself.  I don't need Mr. Dunn to meet with me at all. He's made his intentions with Homeland Park, local fire departments and the "poor & unsupportive" citizens of our area clear as a pane of glass. Those walls DO talk sometimes, and what we hear is not for the faint of heart.  Speaking with others whom know him/ worked with him, on both professional and personal level and for a good deal of time, say similar stories about his change of heart with alliances and aspirations. I can guarantee this will be seen during the coming Council administration.   While we made attempts to reach out to him as community members, and as part of a greater whole, both those efforts were so far rebuked.  I can't imagine why a person who's supposed to serve a select community has yet to meet with any of them yet. I mean, where do you plan to get your ideas for improvements, crime prevention or business implimentation from, a cracker Jack box?  I'll tell you where, radio station 1230 AM, around 7:00 am daily....

If he choses to use whatever PERSONAL commentary shared on this drivel of a blog as his foundation for refusal to even meet or speak to the DIRECT district he represents.......what a piece of work we elected!  He'd better be wary of whats written on the bathroom walls then, cuz if ATZ is "the gospel according to JD",  then wisdom written on the local bathroom walls should be held to an even higher standard, eh?    If he disputes this analysis, or can show why Homeland Park and surrounding area has not been part of his incoming office plans, If what I say is wrong, then show up and defend, correct and diffuse the errors buddy.  So far, score WYATT-1, Dunn-zeee-row.    Better go have your chat with him now nomad, I'm sharpening my pencils......Laughing

Anderson County Council meeting on December 02 has proven to be the most uncomfortable, mob controlled council meeting I have ever attended.

The New Administrator, Michael Cunningham, attempted to answer questions presented during public hearings and by Ms. Cindy Wilson and Mr. Bob Waldrep. His attempt proved to be a huge mistake. Rather than comforting those who asked the questions through providing them with reasonable answers, he seemed to intensify their anger. Obviously, they were only interested in asking questions and making unsubstantiated allegations.

If the above meeting is any sign of what is coming in the future, God have mercy on Anderson County.

Oh JD, sometimes I gotta love ya.  While we're cleaing up posts, why not  also remind posters that just because of their civil employment or "political clout or affiliations" they do not have the right to wage any attack on other members of the community, no matter WHAT their personal opinion about politics, social issues or preferences may be.   If you call someone out over some issue ( with denegrating name-calling included I may add), don't expect they'll cower and whimper away without a defensive response involved. many of us have grown weary of the negative assaults on our elected/ appointed officials or community groups who support the county & those who serve it.  Not all of us fear Rick Driver's short bus brigade composed of threats and intimidation.  You'd think ATZ and those affiliated with it would also support this very community once in a while.

In reference to the "offensive post", it was made in response to someone referencing how Joey Preston did not work or deserve being paid, while those posters were using County equipment, County-paid time and were in direct violation of County policy about use of internet..... in essence the pot calling the kettle black.
