Will the next Anderson County Council Meeting see the Lame Ducks pass a motion to spend $100,000 for a grand farewellparty for Joey Preston and themselves??? This is the kind of crap that they have done in the past!!! I guess that it will be at the Anderson Hilton Garden Inn. I guess that they will also pass a 1 Million Dollar mtion for a grand statue of Joey Preston to be errected outside down on the square!!!

I suggest the Old Kroger Building (soon to be named the Joey R. Preston Administative Building by the lame duck council)!

The name change makes sense for the following reasons: It leans to the left, it costs more than it should, its purchase was shrouded in mystery, it has no real windows to let light in, and it is trying to "make a silk purse from a sow's ear", and it is another way the lame duck majority can stick it to the taxpayers!

Aaaah - that would be a sculpture wouldn't it? Although, I've heard talk that Mr. Preston's likeness will replace the confederate soldier on the monument. I believe the SOCF are already working on that. ;-) I just thought I'd add more ridiculous commenst to all of y'alls

Fasten your seatbelts cause the former King of the County and his Court, McAbee, Greer, Floyd, Thompson and Ronnie are not thru. They don't have enough sense to quit, they intend to harm the taxpayers even more than they did last Tuesday and for the past few years. Not one of them has an ounce of integrity, honesty, self-esteem or anything else you might expect in a grown human. They have trashed our county because they are trash.

Do tell, Prevail. What do they plan to do at the next meeting? Inquiring minds want to know. And here you had me thinking Republikin was the insider.

A wild rumor floating around is that we can expect certain Preston supporters that are on the payroll now as an employee or as a consultant to receive lucrative contracts for the next two years in order to try to keep them in their positions.  I think it will be illegal, if done, because that would be binding the next council.  There are a couple more rumors and I may post them later.  Just remember, McAbee, Greer and Thompson and Preston are extremely bitter that they are being discarded and from their past performances we have seen them in, expect anything.  Money is no object to them and their two remaining buddies on council.  Their agenda is SPITE.

Their agenda may be spite, but it seems your agenda revolves around spreading wild rumors. Personally, I think we can do without both here.

By the way, y'all are totally misreading that restriction about a lame-duck Council not being able to bind the next Council. How do you think counties and cities enter into 20- and 30-year bond issues covered by taxpayer revenues?

Sometimes, I think SSHM is more correct than I'd like to give him credit for being. Wink

I hear that the Lame Duck Council wants the new Joey Preston statue on the square to be 26 feet tall and made out of 18 K gold! They will set aside the money to have 3 24 hour armed guards there to protect it!!!

I heard that they may have to settle for The Southerner Motor Lodge out on Highway 29 North since all of their money is being cut off now......

I heard the same thing retro so it must be true.  I remember when the Southerner was a good place.  Do you?  Actually, I have not heard about the gold statue for Preston but it does not surprise me.  However, I brought it up myself before the June election that a group wanted to place a statue of Cindy Wilson in front of the Court House facing Preston's window.  That may be delayed now that Preston wont be looking out that window much longer.  Maybe the group will use the money raised so far to pay Preston off and get him outta here.

JDTippett, was not a wild rumor I posted.  Kick out all the rumors and you wont have much to talk about on these forums.  As you know, I only post what I consider reasonable rumors and if they don't suit my criteria I always ask my cat's opinion before I post them.

Here is another rumor that has lots of merit to it.  There are two candidates rumored in the running for the next administrator, in addition to Cunningham.  They are Jackie Hunter and Dan Harvell.  Both would make a good adm. in my opinion.

PS JD...after the next council meeting you can apologize to me for thinking I posted a wild rumor about the chosen employees getting a 2 year contract.

You mixing fruits and nut JD. Bonds are quite different than employment contracts, especially when made under these circumstances.

That's interesting speculation about Dan Harvell or Jackie Hunter. How do they fit with a 'national search," experience and being subject to application and evaluation ? Oh, I see, that doesn't matter when the choices are the insider choices of the C. Wilson, B Waldrip cabal.

I caught that too 1-0 but I let the old man slip by without giving him more facts.  Sometimes he does not absorb real info very good.

Generally, when one says 'nationally' it includes and does not exempt the area we are in.  Does that help?

I sometimes think I'm mixing up fruits and nuts every time I engage in a debate with you and Prevail, but, be that as it may, an outgoing County Council can, indeed, obligate an incoming County Council under most circumstances.

As for absorbing real information, Prevail, I'm actually quite good at that. Do you have any? I'll show you. (I'll remind you, though, that I always shake the bull manure off of everything before I file it away for future reference.)

No, it doesn't help. As one of our favorite posters frequently says; "you missed the point."

For clarity. The point is, if it was 'wrong" to select Cunningham, it would be more wrong to select Harvell (zero management experience) or Hunter,
without revisiting some of the county audits when he was head of county finance.
