I agree with you andersonretro on this one. The full blame for our legal expense goes directly to Joey Ray Preston and his demand to keep everything secret from the public. He has told the people that HE is the man in this county. He detested anyone asking any questions and his trail of lies will follow him out the door.
I still wonder...what would it have been like for our county if, when Cindy asked the very first simple question when she arrived on council, Preston had politely answered her question? And provided answers after that to Cindy and Bob? Instead, Preston went into total lockdown and issued orders that no county employee was to respond to anything from those two. We could have had a great county for the past 10 years if Preston had not thought this was HIS county lock, stock and barrell. He disgraced us and some say he has us near bankruptcy as he did with the former county where he worked. It will take years to get over what he has done to us.
With all due respect, Prevail, Anderson County is nowhere near bankruptcy. A near-bankrupt county couldn't possibly find a spare $1.14 million floating around in its "barebones budget" during a recession.
I hate to say I agree with JD twice in one day. Unheard of. But he is right. If the county really were bankrupt they would not have been able to come up with 1.14 million so very quickly.
Oh, don't be too upset about agreeing twice in one day, Noeline. Even ol' JD is right every once or twice in awhile.

That's the issue. Her questions HAVE been answered. It was revealed during testimony to the SC Supreme Court that JRP does indeed (shock ... awe ... amazement) answer Cindy's questions.
That is on record. That is a fact. Going to dispute what is printed in black and white? (this should be interesting)
Now, if anyone observes Cindy long enough, you will hear the following . . . over and over again . . .
" ... if we had more information ..."
That worn-out catch-all catch phrase is used to tie up, drag down, and generally inhibit business of the county. Now wait ... before everyone gets up in arms over that, lets look a little closer about answering simple questions, shall we?
Lewis Road: M. Cindy Wilson stated at a recent Council Meeting that "more information" was needed concerning regulations about the railroad and what could and could not be done.
Enter Amy Plummer and "that" powerpoint presentation two weeks later.
At the end of that presentation, folks were stuffed FULL of information about state and federal guidelines concerning rail safety and rail regulations in general. SO MUCH information was presented that I believe Ms. Plummer had copies of the presentation handed out to members of council so that they could review the regulations at their leisure.
What did Cindy Wilson say after that presentation and after receiving a MASSIVE PACKET of information ... a packet of information SPECIFIC TO HER SIMPLE QUESTION?
" ... if we had more information ... "
It's CLEARLY NOT about the information. It's CLEARLY NOT about getting to the bottom of things. It's CLEARLY NOT about open and honest government. It's CLEARLY ABOUT GRANDSTANDING, PERIOD.

Rhe lame ducks on council should have some pride and vote to cancel the remaining council meetings this year. They have caused so much bitterness!!! Stop with the greed and move on... Let the new council and the start of the year fix things...
Prevail what makes you think that Cindy hasn't had her questions anwered. Every time she asks a question she gets the documents, even the SC SUPREME COURT said so, who are you to say they are wrong.

Mrs. Wilson and Mr. Thompson have gone back and forth so many times- nobody knows what the hell is going on... I still say that all remaining Council Meetings this year should be cancelled.... The lame ducks should leave and Mrs. Wilson and the others should start fresh and leave all of this mess behind us......

In a deposistion, didn't Mr. Preston say he delayed giving Ms. Wilson the information she requested until he could review it first on his timetable. Didn't he also admit this was not the case with other council members? Having your questions answered in a timely manner is a lot different in just having your questions answered. Or having your question answered, but have it buried in a mountain of worthless information.Prevail what makes you think that Cindy hasn't had her questions anwered. Some people are totally hopeless. I believe I could make the dead tree in my yard understand what has been happening in our county the past 12 years easier than we could convince one Prestonite that Preston has done anything wrong.

That $1.14 million was not just floating around out there for them to use, it was part of Anderson County Budget for the fiscal year 2009. Each district has an alotted fund to use for projects in their district and this is where the money to pay JP came from, it was not loose money to speak of.

It is and has been the way that Preston, McAbee, Floyd, Thompson, Greer and Ron Wilson conduct the business of our county. THEY DON'T GIVE A HOOT HOW OUR MONEY IS SPENT, and they showed us one more time at the last council meeting.
Preston will leave this county. The unethical Gang of Shame will probably continue living in this county and we can express our feelings to them from now on. It will never be over for them.
