wyattsc1-county council cannot get involved in personnel matters????? colusion????? who do you think got together on the sly and drew up Joey's buyout and Cunningham's contract to hire?  Non other than 5 county council members.  I know you were there at the council meeting when all this took place and it was quite obvious to everybody the 5 Jacks (asses) were in on both the buyout and the new contract.  They paid no attention to 2 sitting council members who were completely unaware of either and proceeded to finalize both.  Just like Gracie did last council meeting when she presented that rediculous pride award to Bradshaw even after the motion was denied.  Good thing he was there to accept in person, nobody seems to know where he now claims to live.

. . . and the lack of knowledge of Home Rule in Anderson continues . . .

Anderson County Council, under the Council-Administrator form of government, and as defined by state law can get involved in personnel matters of exactly TWO people:

1.) The County Administrator

2.) The Clerk to County Council

Now, what the current council is doing, and what wyatt is hinting at is that pesky list ... you know ... the one that "supposedly does not exist." Well ... tinkering and dorking about with personnel beyond those two individuals ... that is what everyone is up in arms over ... and why the lawsuit has been appealed. A LOT of people frown on the abuse and mis-use of Home Rule.

As for "ignorning the other two council members," it's pretty easy to do when one of the two sleeps all the time (Rip van Waldrep)  and the other has never, and I do mean NEVER voted for a Anderson County budget (on 3rd reading). Next time, we'll make sure a wake-up call is scheduled, and all of MCWs information is presented in triplicate and in large font using extremely simple language. Be engaged and involved in the process ... and people *shock* will actually work with you.

The first casualty was the airport manager. He was let go several weeks after preston. You wll not find a more dedicated employee. He lasted longer than any airport manager the County ever had. When he started eight years ago, the airport was losing over $150,000 per year. At the end of this past fiscal year the airport made over $40,000 profit. He lenghten the runway to improve safety and made Anderson more desirable for corporations to bring their corporate planes in. He built hangars to help ease the demand for hangar space. He helped bring the Snowbirds in last year and he brought WWII aircraft in to honor the WWII Vets. He was let go by a person with no knowledge of airport operations and barely a high school education.

Where ever he goes, some airport will be getting a great person.

Edwinjones, the airport manager left before Mr. Preston. There is presently an interim airport manager, and a search is being conducted for a replacement. There are hundreds of applicants from what I have heard.

People are not hard to find.
Even qualified people are not hard to find.
But then every now and then you find someone who is qualified AND can make things happen.

Employees come and go all the time. Departments and job responsibilities are modified all the time. Anyone who thinks once hired it becomes a 'cradle to grave" situation with the company is living in the wrong era.

The point I am trying to make is that every county employee that leaves is not the victm of a sinister plot by the new council majority. Yet every departure is reported on here as though a crime occurred. That is just not right. 

BUt so far..the ones that left or have been "demoted" were accused of just that by waim, cindi, stan, dan , fran and nan....

they have all been accused of being corrupt and criminal..

      Neither does County Council under the council/administrator form of government established by Home Rule. But that certainly doesn't stop them from talking about it, does it?
