Just a thought on who might follow JP out the door lets say in the next 3 months and why.
1. Bill Strewing? He will have no one to cover his foul ups from a high office. The whole Park Police force may leave as they were just JP's private force.

Maybe the Park Police did a little too much for Mr. Preston. I don't really know. I do know that the reason the Park Police came into service is because County facilities needed more security. Regular law enforcement, deputies, offices, etc. were too expensive. Much of their service time for security was done on over-time. Some county facilities hired a private security service, which was expensive. Mr. Preston and his staff moved security to Park POlice to cut costs.
So, when the new council members get the numbers, they'll have to make a decision on how to protect many county facilities and at what costs. Unfortunately, too many on this blog are blinded by dislike of Preston to deal with real facts.
The real fact is, Park Police are less expensive and provide more coverage than sheriff deputies, other law enforcement officers and private security companies.
Greed is joey Preston`s game. He should give up the million dollars, apoliaize for causing so much hatred in the County, and leave the area and start over somewhere new.......... He has caused so much pain in this area!!!!!!

And YOU are a healer? Please !
Two of the first that will go, in my opinion, will be Bill Striewing and Terry Jones of the Preston Bodyguard group. I hope Mr. Seigler that sits at the desk in the old Court House will stay. He is a good local Anderson man that is a gentleman, unlike Bill and Terry.
I predict that Gina Humphries will leave early in the new year, either of her own accord or at the invitation of the new council. I think Rita is far more trustworthy for that dept. Unless Heather Jones can better explain the waste from her department and the poor showing as compared to nearby counties in bringing in new businesses, she will leave with her husband Terry and follow Preston. A full review of the so-called consultants will start with Allison Schaum, Ron Wilson's daughter. Look for her to be sent back to her pig farm in Spartanburg county. There may be more consultants to hit the road. I believe that Thomas Martin, Preston's attorney that holds hands with him at council meetings will be leaving before the first of the year and wont have to be fired. No more McNair Law Firm for the taxpayers of our county.
Others that might be reviewed will be Holt Hopkins, Taylor Jones, Brandon Grace, Michelle Strange and Kelly Nichols. Of course Kelly Nichols! I'm sure there will be others not mentioned here. The picnic table at Caters Lake will be removed and destroyed.
Just my opinion based on the past couple of years observation of our county government.
I think they all will stay.

sshm, you got me when you said "the position that Mr. Ricketson occupies."
Who is that? I don't know him, what is his position? Anyway, a position may be required by law as you say, but does the law tell us who we must hire for that position?

I see that Ricketson is head of the Planning Div., but he is one I rarely hear about. Why do you bring him up? Is there controversary about him?-prevail
Naaah! He's one of Preston's hires. That makes him fair game for the hate-mongers. Actually, he's pretty sharp.

Please tell me you are single. I'd sure hate to think your DNA will be spread.

Hey, you forgot one. There's this nice lady who does dusting, cleaning and some odd jobs around the county buildings. She's been with the county for 10 years. Mr. Preston hired her.
She has to go! Too bad she has three kids she raises on her own. She walks 3 miles to work. On really cold days she treats herself to a Cat Bus ride, part of her way to and from work. Last year she got a Chamber Check at Christmas for her hard work and loyalty. She thinks Mr. Preston is a wonderful boss and a terrific Administrator. She has to go!
Where does the "get rid of the Joey people" stop?
Repub made a comment about Ricketson, "Naaah! He's one of Preston's hires. That makes him fair game for the hate-mongers. Actually, he's pretty sharp."
The 5 good ones that we will have on council in January are much too honorable to fire anyone just because Preston hired them. They will examine his hires and others to see what is best for our county. This part is hard for Prestonites to understand because so many of them are so brainwashed that a statement like 'best for our county' makes no sense. It has been what's 'best for King Joe' that has prevailed for 12 years. Think about it....best for our county. Has a good ring doesn't it? The changes will be good for all of us.
Then she said "Please tell me you are single. I'd sure hate to think your DNA will be spread." Yep, I'm single but my DNA has been spread for a long long time. Did you and I meet at the hot spot on 29-S near the dam a few years ago, maybe about 2001? You sound familiar????

Sorry Repub, I do not agree with you about firing this poor lady. How can you even suggest that she should be fired? What will the Prestonites want next? I predict that this dear lady will get Gina's vehicle to use to go to work. Tell you what Repub, let's you and I team up and buy Christmas presents for all those kids to show her that we care, OK?
Repub needs to take her afternoon nap. She said

Just illustrating how ridiculous all this talk about employees who are connected to Preston getting let go by the new council.
I'm encouraged that you (even in jest) are caring about another person. But, no thanks, I have no interest in teaming up with you. But, if you really care, there are a number of good charities around town. Please, no coal in the sock.
sshm asked "So, is the "new gang of five" going to defund/eliminate positions from the budget?"
In my opinion the new council will examine every dept. as they search for ways to save money. Preston is leaving us near bankruptcy and changes will be necessary. Look for some jobs in some depts. to be eliminated and even some full departments to be eliminated. I would guess that at least 95% of the voters in this county would agree that we have some waste in our local government and the new council will be looking for that waste. The department heads, and employees, that have not pulled their weight will be replaced...isn't that just common sense? You sell the new council short. They are good folks with lots of common sense and will do what is right for our county. Party time for Preston and his chosen is over and it's time to tighten the belt and continue.
