When you go against your attorney's advise you usually end up doing the wrong thing. Not only illogical but many other things. This Council does not have the right to assign possible cost for a  potential suit to Preston. If they paid him more than his contract minimally required, they violated their fiduciary duty and that is actionable. Logic has nothing to do with what has happened. It is total contempt for the laws and justice and show depraved and immoral behavior contradicting any promise to represent their constituency. Those five are degenerates.

The "Rick is right crowd" wanted an audit and the council voted for the audit. They wanted Mr Preston gone and he is gone. Whats next? Maybe Rick should put up the WAIM transmitters and title to the property as colateral for any more boondogels! Put your money where your mouth is! Who's the real water toter here? Sounds like Rick is carrying Cindy and Bobs.

Here's what WOULD have been next: Had the incoming council had their way, JRP would have been run out and likely tied up in court for years to come. In his absence, the plan was to have Jacky Hunter take the post of County Administrator. Why Jacky? Well, the position that Mr. Hunter occupies in the county is a significant one - a position mandated by (state) law. In the event that the office is vacated, the GOVERNOR can APPOINT a replacement to hold that office.

Enter Kevin Bryant, Governor Sanford, and Dan Harvell.

Sen. Bryant makes a call to Governor Sanford asking that Dan Harvell is appointed to fill the vacated position. Governor Sanford, noting the fact that Bryant is apart of that "Club for Growth Crowd" (Club for Growth Crowd - group of state lawmakers pushing the political agenda of both Governor Sanford and NY Real Estate Mogul Howard Rich) politically rewards Kevin with the appointment he seeks.

... and folks thought that by changing the incumbents out for the opposition, we'd somehow see real change. Ha!

Animal Farm should be required reading for people with voter registration cards.

So, in summary:

1.) The thunder of having an audit was "stolen" when the current council approved it.

2.) The thunder of crucifying JRP was "stolen" when the current council took action to ensure a smooth transition by resolving "bad blood" issues.

3.) The ability to appoint/promote "their folks" was "stolen" when the current council took action to find a replacement for JRP - a replacement that is the POLAR OPPOSITE of JRP.

In the end, the opposition got EXACTLY what they wanted (audit, removal of JRP, a calm, low-key, family man to replace JRP). They just didn't get to do it themselves ... and that is what has them so torqued.

She has sung. Sorry you missed the show. It's time for Anderson to move on. You got EXACTLY what you wanted ... an no-strings-attached, no-limit on funds audit ... the removal of JRP as County Administrator ... and the promotion of someone who is the polar opposite of JRP.

Not only did "you win" but you got EXACTLY what you wanted. As I said before, because you didn't get to crucify JRP, you and others are torqued.

GET. OVER. IT.

There is NO excuse for the incoming council now. They have no obstacles to inhibit their ability to perform and deliver on their campaign promises. In fact, the existing council helped them deliver on one of those promises ... to be rid of JRP.

As JD said in another post, you lost a high-stakes game of poker, plain and simple.
