JDTippett,

The situation with Mr. Joey Preston is very hard to read. It appears that all sides have mixed feelings, contradicting thoughts, and many voices. In addition, the council meeting agenda of November 18 does not reveal any clues.

Well, I do hope cooler heads prevail and an orderly process is put into place to resolve these issues. But for now, I just can't come close to describing what I'm afraid is going to happen without using the word "cluster" followed by a word I'd have to warn myself about if I used it here. Wink

Are you thinking of a "Charlie Foxtrot"? Laughing

In the military they are not as rare as "bore grease" or a can of "backblast" but not as common as they used to be!

Has anyone dared to imagine another possibility other than a huge buyout? Could Bill McAbee, Preston's number one plant and mouthpiece on Council, convince the other Gang of Shame members to extend Joey's contract with even more perks? What if....Joey got an additional 3 year extension and higher salary and more authority? It is a possibility.

That's him, Non-seq. Good ol' Charlie. Lot of names on that wall thanks to him.

I'll send you the prize: A nice bucket of propwash, and book on Anderson County politics by JDTippett titled "Sierra November Alpha Foxtrot Uncle." Laughing

Why don`t we start a cash bar at every Coucil Meeting?? It can make the county money and can give everyone at this circus a buzz!!!

Gosh JD between SNAFU and CF you would think you were in uniform.  As common as the 2 phrases are you would wonder how our military could accomplish anything. I'm too lazy to see how this came from the original topic, but I can guess.

Rear Echelon Mother F? Not a very nice group if you have to deal with them from that perspective. LOL Way worse than a SNAFU. ROTFLMAO Memories. Anyone else go to The Wall?

It is now almost 3 pm, and the agenda is still NOT up on the county website!
What's going on over there?

Liz Cary wrote the following article on the Independent Mail Webpage, http://www.independentmail.com/news/2008/nov/17/waldrep-ask-anderson-council-consider-questions-ab/. The article deals with Mr. Bob Waldrep question concerning the authority of the present council to extend Mr. Joey Preston’s contract beyond next year.

At this point in time, I don’t think that any final decision has been made concerning Mr. Joey Preston’s future with Anderson County. However, I do believe that the present county is leaning toward allowing the Administrator to leave with honor and dignity, which would include a partial severance pay.

Art how can coucil reward Mr. Preston if he quits? It does not make sense. What part of his contract spells that out? He apparently has no problem with this council because the vote has always gone his way. Now it seems that will no longer be the case. So he can quit and be paid for it? In what crazy world does that make sense?

Nomadron,

Ending Mr. Joey Preston’s contract with a reasonable severance pay is a win/win option. It allows Anderson County to avoid a political battle, with all sides claiming some victory.

Since the people of Anderson are honorable and fair, our dealing with county officials should be conducted through civility and compassion. Let us think of all the innocent individuals who may get caught in the cross fire if an out-of-control legal and personal battles erupt.

Art my friend some of us are "turn the other cheek" type of folks. Some of us are "an eye for an eye" type. We see this in different ways. I just don't understand a world where a person quits and gets rewarded for it. With all respect to you Art, we must agree to disagree. But I still believe this is a matter for the new council to resolve.

Heck most of us are don't spend money needlessly people. If he wants to go, let him. Do the audit. Do it so his contract is not breached but do it, then see if anyone wants to pay him off to leave or boot his butt to the curb. There is no reason to pay him because the popular vote changes the dynamics of the Council. Geeze Art, I know you're a nice guy but don't be so generous with our money.

I guess we chalk this up to the difference between a duck with one wing and another with two wings. A difference of a pinion

That would be a difference of a pennon: the wing of a bird. A pinion is just a flight feather of a bird.Frown

That's your opinion. As usual, your opinion is out of the mainstream of understanding.

Webster's opinion is; Pinion n, :the end section of a bird's wing: also WING.

Pennon is n, 1: a long narrow ribboblike flag borne on a lance 2: WING

Naah, nanna, na, na !

  • pennon: wing of a bird
  • cut the wings off (of birds)

"Mainstream of understanding" a.k.a. limited understanding of words meanings. LOL

here you go for a wider finding of definitions

Is the next silliest response to your post ending salutation na ni na ni boom boom? sheesh
