Thanks, JD. I remember Desert Storm and what it was about. Even though I was only (maybe) 13 at the time.. I may have misread Honeydonkeys post but it sounded like he was stating that Kuwait had weapons of mass destruction instead of Iraq.

Sometimes I have trouble reading what he/she is writing because they always seem to be a little on the defensive side of things..

Clemsonfan, I'm speaking of Desert Storm, and Desert Storm only.

-former-cop

Yes, I know you are. I was trying to figure out what honkeydonkey was talking about.

Clemsonfan some people have a bad habit of distorting the facts to cover for military blunders, especially when they cause the loss of young lives, and some have a habit of throwing the word lier around, whenever they are trying to cover for a political person,or party. If you Want facts go to the library, you can read all about what went on in Desert Storm and why, in the newspapers on file.

"and some have a habit of throwing the word lier around,"

Now see, there are things we agree on.

Honkeydonkey, I appreciate your interest in my education on Desert Storm but I had the opportunity to read those papers back when they were printed.. As far as the loss of young lives, Doesn't that happen in any war? Aren't the men and women who sign up for the military aware of this consiquence?

Yes they are very aware and don`t mind giving all for the defense of their country. But the point I am trying to make here is all the young men who died in Vietnam, and since, has been only for political, and personal gain for a few individuals, and when O`Bama brings our troops home we will have accomplished nothing other than trade lives for a few of George bush`s friends and his family to make themselves filthy rich, and help bankrupt our once great nation.

So, now that we are there, do you think we should stay, or withdraw?

The mission of Desert Storm was clear - liberate Kuwait PERIOD.

We we should all remember Rad Adair (a.k.a Hellfighter)  who went and capped all the wells set on fire by the Iraqi's under Hussein. The projected time to accomplish that was 5 yrs., his team did it in nine months. A veteran of a different kind.

One question for all those who said that we failed to prove there were any WMD's in Iraq please follow this link and tell me if your question changes? The media is good at convincing the masses what they see isn't really what it looks like. As this thread was for Veterans maybe that should be on a different topic?

Since this thread is for Vets and today is the Marine Corps Birthday, I have to relate a story my Dad told me he was not a Marine he was in the Navy and his ship and all of the guys were on his ship made the Marine unit, that for some reason they took into battle more often then other, anyway they were all given honorary status of belonging to that ship, in addition those Marines made all those Navy guys honorary Marines, kinda cool. Some of those Marines showed up at the ships reunions each and every year.Amazing!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, everlasting thanks to the  Marines. But let's not forget the Army, Navy and Air Corp.

To all the servicemen that have put their lives on the line for us, and particularly those that gave their lives. . . thank you and may we never forget the sacrifices you made so that we can stay at home and write blogs in safety.

I cannot come up with an appropriate way of saying this, so I'll say it as simply as I can...

May I offer a deep, sincere, and heart felt thank you to all of the brave men and women who have served this country. We are forever indebted to you.

While I will agree that we should thank all our brave fighting men who both now, and in the past have stepped up and defended our country, I think we should ask ourselves this one question, since the Korean War do you think our loss of young lives, has been worth what our government has tried, and failed to accomplish. I for one do not, We lost in Vietnam,We quit in Desert Storm before the job was done, and we now have a President- Elect who says we should never have invaded Iraq, and he has plans to quit there and come home again. Has anyone ever given any thought to our troops staying home this time until we define just who our enemies are. If we did, I think we would probably end up fighting along our own borders.

-honkeydonkey

There is an excellent 8-part series on you tube that further explains what honkeydonkey is attempting to convey to everyone in the above post.

It is titled: "WEB OF DECEIT".

This address will take you to the video producers site where you will see the 8 videos listed.

http://www.youtube.com/user/JeffAmerican

(for some unknown reason I was unable to use the imbed video feature for this youtube address so I will post "WEB OF DECEIT - Part 1" in the next post)

You will learn of the complicity of other nations, including the USA, of these war matters in the affairs of Iraq.

Ya know citizen you and honkydonkey seem to want to go to any lengths to create controvery where there is none. That quote is from another thread, a thread where you and he/she seem to want to go out of your way to slam the military and this country. This thread is for honoring our service men and women take that stuff to the other thread there are plenty of them or start another one. It does not belong on this thread.
