Man, you Hussein supporters are a sad group. Many of you would prefer that we become 'The Socialist States of America' instead of the United States of America it seems. Sadly, if our USA continues on it's present path, you will have your wish. I just wonder, why do some of you think that will be a better place to live?

PREVAIL asks ...
I just wonder, why do some of you think that will be a better place to live?

Would you believe ...

.. Because this is the dawning of 'The Age of Aquarius'.

That's why!

Citizen, I saw Hair in Boston and that song was the only good thing about it.  A bunch of naked unattractive people running around at the end didn't do a thing for me.  Scary, kind of like the times I fear are ahead.

I think the only time naked is unattractive, is when it is combined with old, wrinkled, and very over weight. But that is just the opinion of a redneck southern boy who likes strip clubs, and long neck bottles of beer, while listening to a little Hank Jr.

It's nice to know your Dad has a 'thing' for men who wear women's jewelry.

But it's even nicer he didn't make a pass at me. Mrs. Pappy would have objected.

By the way, since you all know me, why are you ashamed to tell me who you are ?

Yes he has a big thing for men who wear womens jewelry, you should get together with him sometime and let him tell you about it, I asked him once, about getting an earring when I was in High School, being a Dad who never liked to say no to any of his kids, he said OK, we will go to the mall and get you an earring, and then we will go to Belks and get you some dresses, skirts, high heels, hair ribbons and some lacy panties to go with the earring, so you can look like your mother and sisters. I never asked again, and to this day I still don`t have an earring, only a couple of redneck, white trash tattoo`s from my time in the Marines. But strangely enough my Dad approved of them, wonder why?

So, having an earring makes a guy look like a girl? I'm sure there are alot of men out there who would disagree with that.

Rita Rudner says that, in her opinion, women should always try to marry a man with a pierced ear - he's ready for marriage because he's already experienced pain and bought jewelry. Smile

A man experienced with pain and buying jewelry does make it sound like a good idea! Wink

And just as many women that would agree that they are showing their feminine traits.

Sounds very stereotypical to me.. But what do I know... I'm just a female who thinks its no big deal. Are wedding bands feminine too? Jewelry is jewelry, right?

I wouldn`t know as none of the males in my family wear one, they hurt your fingers when you have to punch someone in a bar room brawl.

In the past an earring made a statement -the source is wikipedia.

Ear piercing is one of the oldest known forms of body modification, with artistic and written references from cultures around the world dating back to early history. One of the early signs of earrings worn by men are from the walls of Perspolis in ancient Persia, the carved images of the soldiers from various parts of the Persian Empire which are displayed on some of the surviving walls of the palace showing the soldiers wearing an ear ring.

Pierced ears were popular in the United States through the early 1920s, then fell into disfavor among women due to the rising popularity of clip-on earrings. Nevertheless, a small male following continued to exist, particularly among sailors, for whom a pierced earlobe often meant that the wearer had sailed around the world or had crossed the equator[citation needed]. In addition, if a non service member sailor was involved in and survived a sinking ship, they were often seen wearing an earring in the left ear. There was also a long-held belief that puncturing the earlobe was beneficial to increasing the acuity of eyesight (see acupuncture) or of hearing[citation needed]. Also, it was a common belief amongst sailors that if their ship wrecked and their bodes washed up on a shoreline, the person to find them would take the earring as payment for a Christian burial. It is because of this belief that many sailors invested quite a bit of money on gold earrings, as they were very superstitious.

and then from squido -

1.)The oldest human remains shows earrings were worn.

Earrings are even mentioned in the Bible, see Genesis 22:42 where Abraham gave a gift of an earring to Rebecca as part of a wedding dowry to marry his son Issac. A similar practice is still followed today among some African and Middle Eastern societies where an earring is given to the wife as a symbol of the marriage and to ensure her financial security in the event of divorce. The size of the earring also denotes the wealth of the wearer and is considered an important symbol of social status

Approximately 1440 BC. The book of Exodus 21: 5-6 describes how Hebrew servants that pledged allegiance to their master would have their ear held to a door post and pierced with an awl. This would indicate identification with a particular family.

2.Earrings were worn as a symbol of wealth, social status and power.

Men were the first to wear earrings .The oldest mummified body in the world was found frozen in an Austrian Glacier in 1991. Tests showed the body to be over 5,000 years old. The body had pierced ears and the holes had been enlarged to 7-11mm diameter.

Earlier information indicated earrings unearthed by archaeologists in Iraq date to about 2,500 BC. Back to 3000 BC there were two types of earrings: the hoop, and the more elaborate pendant. From 1559 B.C. to 1085 B in Egypt earplugs became very fashionable. These type of piercings and earrings are seen even on King Tutankhamen.

I also understood that there were other reasons for wearing one earring as a man. I did not look for references to prove or disprove - one for men indicating they were born out of wedlock and another for men indicating they were gay. I think those two should still be mandatory - in one case it would save a woman from wasting her time by pursuing a man as anything more than a friend<g>. Neither of these two references included the ancient  customs of different tribes to pierce and elongate the earlobes with large objects. Now we get to see that on Gothic or punked out males in the US.

He is alive and well, and wallowing in Budweiser Beer money, while America goes bankrupt, and in a different direction. Like menapause, the change is coming.

Menopause?  More like mental-pause for the GOP.  I feel so badly for all the rich, affluent and untouchable by the economic downturn.  Woe is them, no new mega-homes, no new lambourginis, may just have to cut back on daily spa treatments.  My bleeding @ss!  Hope Obama taxes the skin off them!  I'll need mine to work to the bones to make utility payments!
