I did my civic duty
I just left Centerville A...
32 minutes from parking my car to leaving after voting!
At Broadview this morning at 7am there was a line of 50+, so it took a little over an hour to get through. The line was significantly shorter when I left.
1-1/2 hours at Centerville B, but I 'SEEN ELVIS' at CENTERVILLE B!
Almost two hours at Trinity Church across from main Post Office. Elvis had just left the building and workers said he had told them that he voted American! He was singing 'Dixie' on the way out per a voter.
Craytonville - 45 minute wait at 7 AM. Noeline told me it was 2 1/2 hours at Midway School (before 10 AM till 12:30ish)!!!
It was a very long morning, I was both impressed and saddened by the numbers, since I vote in all elections, I was thrilled to see all of these people but at the same time saddened since we Americans do not use our right to vote all the time, this should not be the execption but the rule.
I was at Shepard Swim Center almost all day, and the lines stayed long (I would guess at least an hour) the whole time I was there.
I was a poll manager at Trinity Methodist Church. It was an exciting day and no one complained about waiting to vote. Thanks to all the bloggers here that spent the day working the polls and for their candidates.
I can only hope that Senator Bryant will consider representing his entire constituency and not just his personal views and those of his friends and contributors. I hope he will, despite his wish for vouchers for those that do not choose public education, vote to make the improvements in the SC Public School System. I hope he will reconsider his abstention on the Cigarette Tax. That would provide much needed money to fund our health care needs for those that do not have insurance. More jobs for Anderson County and environment protection and green energy are very important. These were Marshall's issues. Senator Bryant, are you willing to hold town meetings on a regular basis to all to discuss these issues and add them to your list of things to accomplish during this term.
Life is good in Anderson County and with co operation for all involved the great progress of the County will go on. Don't let us be the County that could have been progressive and successful that got mired down in minutia and personal vendettas to the point of once again becoming a complacent, stilted and recessive blip on the map of the Great State of South Carolina.

Yeah, why can't we all be tree huggers, support the same failed education system that has been in place for years, and tax and spend ourselves into prosperity. It doesn't work.
I heard about the problems at Trinity. Democrat poll watchers were not following the rules and had to be called out by a lawyer. Don't deny it, I was there!
Uhhh, Petunia? Kevin Bryant is a Republican, and Marshall Meadors is a Democrat. Bryant represents everybody as a state senator, but his political philosophy must represent the 60 percent or so of the voting public who chose him over Meadors in yesterday's election. No elected official can reflect the views of 100 percent of his constituents. That's why we have elections - to decide the priorities of that constituency.
Why would Bryant adopt Meadors polical positions now? That sounds like a sure recipe for defeat four years from now if you ask me.
Now, can somebody explain why Petunia's post drew four quick thumbs downs? Just because she's misguided in her understanding of a "representative democracy" is no reason to tell her she can't express her opinion.

Well, JD, I gave her a (^ just to try to even out the thumbies. Hope it helps,

Yah, exactly my problem with the thumbs up/down mechanism; no way to give feedback.
Maybe Petunia's post was given the thumbs down because she suugested that Bryant adopt MM's ideas. After all the people that elected Bryant evidently want vouchers and more school choice.

Mr Hilley I don't know why you got your panties in a wad. The poll watcher was just trying to help us keep up with the curbside voting and keep some order. I didn't notice you doing anything but stand around frowning and trying to find something wrong.

I didn't ask for anymore than consideration of some of the issues that over 40% of Bryant's constituency found important. That would put him up for 90% of the vote next time. His last term was his learning curve. This time he needs to produce more or like GWB he will be gone.
