1-opinion, with all due respect, if the NEW County Council wants to absolutely guarantee that they'll wind up paying Joey Preston's entire contract - AND face charges for violating state law - all they have to do is try to REQUIRE him to put Gina Humphries on paid leave without any concrete evidence of wrongdoing.

S.C. Code of Laws:

SECTION 4-9-660. Authority of council and its members over county officers and employees.

Except for the purposes of inquiries and investigations, the council shall deal with county officers and employees who are subject to the direction and supervision of the county administrator solely through the administrator, and neither the council nor its members shall give orders or instructions to any such officers or employees.

Y'all just haven't thought this through yet, have you?

JD there is NOTHING in the law you quote that bars the county council from directing Mr. Preston to place Ms. Humphries on paid admin leave. The law you quoted simply bars them from placing her on leave directly without going through the administrator as the conduit. Yes it has been thought through. The admistrator serves at the pleasure of the Council and takes direction from them. Contrary to popular opinion, PAID ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE is not a punishment!

Thanks JD. Finally some sense and facts. There are things we would like to see and then there are things we are likely to see.

republikin I hope the results of this don't shock you as much as the primary did! I don't know if you could stand another setback. Smile

Repub said "They have said and done just about anyting to get eleceted." It sounds like Republikin is talking about the Gang of Shame cause they did and said everything possible to keep the power in Joey's hands and theirs. Amy, were you subconsciously referring to your man Bill McAbee, Michael Thompson, Larry Greer, Ron Wilson and Graceless Floyd?

1-opinion said "There are only 7 WAIM listeners according to Garp. What is it you mean?" Make that at least 8 listeners, I listen when I can. Amazing what 7 or 8 listeners can do when they set their minds to it.

Nomad mentioned "they are many county employees that voted for the new council members." Very true. I believe most employees wanted a drastic change in our county government and that would include replacing the Gang of Shame and their King Joe. We have a wealth of good hard-working and honest employees on the county payroll. And a few that are the opposites.

Personally, I hope that King Joe will have to stay the course and face the music as it develops. He wants to grab the gold and take the 3:10 out of Anderson County. Don't let him do it Council.

Oh Stanley, let it go, you can't run everything for the Saturday AIM amature hour and the weakly WJ. Your probelm is, Joey Preston is someone you can't bully.

What, involuntary "paid administrative leave" is now a perk ? Here's what's really funny. If for some reason unknown to the hate crowd and their online representative 'nomanron' a key county executive was placed on "unpaid leave" without reason or cause, they'd be up in arms about a cover up.

What a bunch. And to think, we'll be having them around for at least two years.

I gotta be honest, I have no single clue what all this is about. However, if PAID ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE is a punishment, then I've been a bad boy and need to be punished. I'd think a month would teach me to act better.

here's the law

http://www.scstatehouse.gov/archives/CodeofLaws2004/t04c009.htm

Someone else read it and decide if it stops the CFO from being put on leave by the Administrator during an audit.

We really need to get the AG to render some opinions after some very BAD advice from McPreston law firm.

We'd all think that, unless the implication is you did something illegal or wrong. Your name gets smeared and you get publically convicted as the "unpaid leave" is annoumced in AIM and joked about on WAIM. It may seem like a perk to get paid for not working. We'd all like some of that, except for the stigma that goes with it. It's not like a vacation or layoff, it's punitive, even if you are being paid.

Rep, I do agree with you. I was making a joke. (even if it wasn't a funny one.) My bad.

You be fine. I'm cool with your posts. Besides, a "former-cop" is bound to have friends on the current police force. You got my back?

Ha, if it's before January, you'd best deny you'd ever spoken to ,or even heard of me.

republikin Let me say this one more tim. Please try to read it and understand....

"republikin I want to assure you that I an no one's "online representative". I speak only for myself. If you say otherwise you are at the very least woefully mistaken!"

If you continue to say otherwise you are a liar! This is not an "opinion" thing. This is a factual claim you have made and it is a lie. Please have the decency not to say it again.

Now opinions are not allowed ? When did I ever say it is/was a fact? Have it your way. I'll reserve my opinion of your posts for my own consideration. You can do the same of mine. Fair enough ?

republikin please reread the second paragraph in my last post. You made a claim that I "represent" a group of people. I do not. Please comment or disagree with my post all you want.  That is what a place like this is for and I welcome the exchange. But please do not claim something about me that you know nothing about.

As long as you do the same we'll get along fine.
