Jeezus-H-kryst  y'all. It's only October and the store aisles are filling with christmas trees, lights, decorations and those ever-dreadful songs!  I simply cannot take it anymore being force-fed the end of year bullshit about buy-buy-buy! Is it any wonder the nation has gone off it's rockers with guilt and anguish over buying your brats the latest Hannah Moronica playset, complete with fake boobs and pre-nuptual papers. With around 1/3 of the country either under-employed, out of work or homeless alltogether, why are we bombarded with gotta BUY crap or your family don't love you?

What happened to the real meaning of the holidays?  Wyatt sez  Bah-friggin HUMBUGTongue out!

I already put a red AND GREEN light on my front porch.  I'm ready for Christmas and I didn't want anyone to get the wrong idea.  I figure as fast as time goes by if you don't get an early start it will be the New Year before you know it.  Shoot I leave stuff up that I like all year round.  I also sing Christmas carols whenever I feel like it. And I'm a heathen.

I encourage everyone to chop down one of God's gifts to us ( a oxygen-providing tree)  drag it home, prop it in the middle of your living room next to the exits, cover it with HOT lights and metal decorations, burn those lights for weeks on end while the little ones sleep, and wonder why you're dumb enuf to risk your family's life with a piece of dead brittle wood which is a fire hazard.  Toast yourself with a glass of Jim Jones Koolaid and say D'oh, D'oh, D'oh!

Or buy from a local Christmas tree farm and promote the local economy as well as the environment all in one swift saw. After Christmas, donate it for fish beds in the lake. The short sighted are always the short sighted. RECYCLE.

Damn tree hugger I am, how does cutting DOWN trees do anything good for the environment?  And like the lake needs any more debris poking out of it!  And you say U R Sensible....the thing that hurts more is clear cutting land for a Godly holiday.  Where's SSHM when you need him ( or his name...)  U R Silly

Not that you have any interest beyond being a shock jockey but try this on for getting some education on the subject - http://www.christmastree.org/facts.cfm - it's a sustainable agricultural industry. Maybe you have tree envy? Do a search on organic Menorah just for fun.

AAHHHH the Holiday spirit is alive and well.

Along with using the trees for fish beds they can also be mulched to be used to return nutrients to the soil for the benefit of other plants. In essence good for the environment.

Are they clear cutting old growth Christmas tree forests? LOL It's a crop, one that is renewable and if you don't want them put in the lake, they can be used to prevent land erosion and made into mulch as former-cop points out. If this really offends you you can buy a living Christmas tree and plant it after the holiday.

Take your family and go serve food to the homeless that day or week. Watching those far less fortunate receive teaches those who participate to feel double blessed. What your kids think the holiday season represents is up to you. The rest is just marketing.

A half arssed guess at non-seq.'s question - yes

His point is valid about commercialism but the poor guy has to teach his kids eight days in a row it's not about stuff.

Now THATS  what I was talking about!  It's a bit early to  be bombarded with sales pitches, commercials & endless jingles and aisles of cheap Chinese garbage to poison the kiddies with.  At least wait till after Thanksgiving before killing me with all that.  I need a break from the 21 months of presidential  campaigning.

Yeap, now slowly over the next few days all other music will be phased out and by this time next week it will be those dang hounds barking jungle bells and "Grandma got run over" every thirty minutes.
