She will most likely get re-elected but that don't mean it's a good thing. At meetings and at CC she is often confused and unprepared. She does let you know what she thinks but often her opinion is the polar opposite as MCW only for that reason. She won't put aside her personal feelings to do her job.
Hey, I just had an original thought! (Scared the hell out of myself.)
How about if Gracie and MCW and every other member of County Council, along with Joey Preston, the WAIM crowd and the anti-WAIM crowd all put their personal feelings and animosities aside for awhile and do what's best for Anderson County, not their own egos, bank accounts and re-election chances?
Yeah, yeah, I know. I'm dreaming.
As for JP already having another job lined up, I have no idea if he does or not, but I wouldn't blame him if he did given his current dilemma. That's called "planing for the future" - a concept that is almost totally foreign to his more vocal critics (and, in a couple of instances in the past, a concept even he has forgotten.)
Holder is just another in a line of candidates trotted out by "the original taxpayers association" (OTA).
He was less than stellar in his appearance at the debate at Westside Community Center. He had all of three supporters in the audience, none of whom could actually vote in District 2. He doesn't have any credentials, any background, or any opinions other than the ones handed to him by the OTA crowd. Holder only recently moved into the district, some say at the behest of the OTA, simply to run against Gracie.
Gracie continues to work hard in her district, which is one of the most economically depressed areas of Anderson. The community organizations she has developed have made strides. It is not an easy climb, but District 2 is moving ahead. Gracie has her heart in it. I'm voting for Gracie.

Right. She would be sooo much better if she made things up like MCW and BW do. She should ask questions with false and misleading implications, make wise cracks, and denigrate county employees and anyone else who supports community growth, quality of life and publice service. When is the last time MCW "put aside personal opinion" and did HER job? She has stood in the way of progress and cost taxpayers thousands in lawsuits. Yep. she's so much better than Gracie. Well folks, here's some of your own medicine. Ms. Floyd is who the VOTERS IN HER DISTRICT want. Like you tell us, get over it!

JD: I gave this a thumbs-up because I largely agree with your comments. However, one cavil, the Joey Preston I know is ALWAYS planning for the future. He is usually a step ahead in most important things about county growth, economic development and quality of life issues. He takes a lot of unfair criticism becuase some factions equate "think and planning ahead" with scheming to increase taxes and get more control. It's the damned if you do, damned if you don't, catch twenty-two trap. Sadly, the MCW/BW cabal will likely get their way and he'll be gone. Time will tell how that helps or hurts Anderson County. My personal view is we will be a lessor place without his leadership. With all his falts, he's the best administrator the county has ever had. And, he has maintained a very effective and talented staff. Sadly, we'll lose a lot of them when he leaves. Despite what Driver and the nut bunch allude, I observe that he and his staff actually enjoy working together. They don't always agree (neither do you and I and others) but they are effective. That's good for Anderson County. MCW and BW are NOT GOOD and we are about to find that out.
PS: I don't work for AC, I don't Pal with JP and no one in my family gets any money from AC.
Republikin, your post just reinforces the sarcasm in my post. In order for hostilities to end and for Anderson County to move forward, BOTH sides need to put away the sharp knives and the sharp tongues and find some common ground as a STARTING POINT, if nothing else.
If it gets turned into an "us versus them" issue every time, it'll never happen. Good government has to be based on compromise, not character assassination. Anderson County has it bass ackwards at the moment, and that, in my humble opinion, is the crux of about 95 percent of its problem.
By the way, thanks for the thumbs up, even though your quote was from Sweet-P and not me. I gave you one, too, just so we can play nice for awhile.

You never had expenses paid by Anderson County's Economic Development?

If we "make nice" it is going to drive some others nuts. Actually as far as Anderson County having a problem, I don't think we do. We are no worse than any other government entity. What we have is some great theatre.

Your response sounds similar to what you accuse the WAIM people of being, close minded and one sided. The voters in Floyd's district may want her which you appreciate but you do not afford that voters in C Wilson's district the same right. In your view C Wilson is to blame for all the woes in the county? Do you think the" personnel committee" should have been called on before Preston filed a lawsuit against C Wilson & Waldrep? That would have been the correct first action taken by Preston. He chose to cost the county money by filing a law suit before giving the "personnel committee" the ability to address the problems. Floyd makes plenty of rude comments showing her contempt for other members of Council. They all do it.
Floyd often does not check her facts. Look at JEBCO. According to Humphries you have to be a 501c3 to receive money from the county. Did Floyd ever verify that they were? In fact they are not listed with the IRS at all. Floyd understood those restrictions well enough when C. Wilson wanted to donate money to a florist for "tourism". JEBCO is a state religious non-profit group, with no financial records to show how tax money was spent. Floyd failed to do her job to insure they were eligible to receive taxpayer money and insure they were spending the money wisely. Humphries said that was the responsibility of the Council member. When JEBCO dissolves the Anderson Chapter of the NAACP receives JEBCO's remaining assets. Assets the taxpayers help keep valuable. Does that serve the county as a whole? JEBCO may be of great value to the community but they and Floyd are bound to the same standards as everyone.
JD is right - this is always an "us versus them issue every time". The fact is that the "them" and "us" are often wrong and not working in the spirit of "compromise but character assassination". It's pointless but it's Anderson.

Of Course she did. Let's look at some of the cities, New Orleans (only one hotel room, hmmm.... Maybe I over looked the 2nd one?)New York, Atlanta, Chicago and others. But the funny thing is she didn't even live in the district that McAbee represents. So, she really wasn't eligible to represent the district (remember the Juan Brown letter?) I do.
Gravy train is over!

I don't think Holder was a member of the Taxpayers association. I am not sure. I do know that he ran as a libertarian a few years back for House District 9. He has no chance of beating Gracie Floyd. Don't get me wrong, I think she is absolutely useless and hasn't a clue to what she is doing, but she will win. She and MCW are unbeatable.
Willieh, you remind me of the kid who, on Halloween, fills a paper bag with dog crap, puts it on somebody's porch, sets it on fire, rings the doorbell and runs like a coward.
We've seen that trick before. Got anything new?

You got me. I just have to tell the truth.
WilliehYou don't know what you're talking about. I think you have Republikin confused with several other entities on this board and she ain't either one as far as I know. But then you know it all don't you willieh--that's why you're running the Republican Party.-elliefant
Sorry, but you must have me confused with someone else. While I have voted for republicans and campaigned for a few in the past, I do not run the party. I have not even paid a membership fee, but would if they ever send me an application.
No Elliepfant I am not confused, she is the one I am talking about. Juan Brown wrote the letter about her and the other guy that McAbee appointed to the economic development board. Neither were eligible because they didn't live in District 4. She traveled to several locations on the taxpayers dime. I think she owes it back to us, but we will never see it.
Willieh-
I didn't say that Holder was a member of OTA. He was "encouraged to run" by OTA. They encouraged T. Williams, M. Mitchell, and now Holder -- none of whom are members of OTA -- to run against Grace. They use who they can when they can. And most of them are too dense to even realize they are being used.
I think Willieh and Non Sequitur are correct as to who this person is. Do some searching and you may even find posts by her to prove it. My question is whay not admit her travel, lodging, etc at county expense. Surely there is nothing to hide?
