I heard today from a county employee that Joey already has a job lined up in Charleston. I guess he's just trying to get that last cash benefit from the county before moving on.

Whatever he takes when he goes, will be courtesy of Cindy,Bob,WAIM,the Real Taxpayers Assoc.,and the local republican party.

Absolutely great but not with a half a million dollar buyout package from our county, If he wants another job, like every other "Joe" he should just leave. We have no obligation to give him an incentive to do so. A hearty "all the best to you" but being bought out is not a requirement for him taking another job. Whatever he takes with him will be grace of Floyd, Ron Wilson & Thompson unless they take the advice of the attorney they supposedly paid to give them legal advice. <BG>

But don't blame them, they'll find another scape goat or two.

First it was Gene Taylor . . .

Then it was Joey Preston . . .

. . . who is next?

The names change, but the song is still the same.

... stupid ...

A question.  Half the time these people are said to be a hateful few with no power (The WAIM crowd) and the other half of the time they are to blame for everything and run the county. Quite a contradiction in views but no one explains it why they pick either view. Would you try? I don't know any of the poeple mentioned other than who Mr. Driver is. The politics are relevant at this time most especially. Perhaps Mr. Tippet or Pappy would be so kind as to write the history of this thread and how our county became so divided?

I'm not Mr. Tippet or Pappy but I've been living in Anderson more years than I care to remember.  This group didn't start off with Joey Preston or even Gene Taylor.  Go all the way back to the Gary Smoak.  This is the same group that whooped and hollered over Smoak and how he wasted money on the new courthouse and his renovations to the old courthouse.  This is the same group with some new additions that called into Matt and Bev before Matt died and John Woodson took over.  John would not tolerate their message of negativity so they went to Rick Driver who would probably still be out looking for black helicopters if he didn't have the "Real" taxpayers behind him.  As for taking over the Republican party, I don't have a clue how that happened but they sure did take over.  It's a wonder any Republicans can get elected.  The Democrats should be dancing in the streets.

They have acquired power through attrition.  Plus they've yelled long enough and loud enough that people actually accept what they're saying without proof.  Take the deal about the audit  CW and Harvell have spewed out that business about a forensic audit for so long that a majority of people have finally accepted what they say.  Most people have no understanding of what is meant by "forensic audit."  This topic has been discussed quite often on this forum.  Still people think the county government is trying to hide something.

I don't know maybe Mr. Preston has the right idea--just move someplace else.  Let the CAVE people have Anderson.  But beware--they're already talking about taking on the state next.

Ellie has a point.  Most of us who are from Anderson and have been here for years (me 50+) have seen different groups come and go but fussing and griping seems to be consistent.  And it makes most of us just keep to ourselves, live our lives, and avoid the headaches.  Sadly, most regular folks want no involvement with politics due to this.

We'll we have a legal obligation and he'll win that arguement. What he does AFTER he leaves AC is his business. You just can't stand a fair deal.

Totally unreliable.

More rumor and innuendo The "hate-Joey" crowd seems to wallor in this sort of tripe.

He'll get another job once the full weight of his contract plays out here. Until then, he's the County Adminstrator, Bob and Cindy are one vote apiece.

Majority wins ! Right now the majority is with Preston. In January, it is expected that won't be the case. Therefore, with regard to a contract settlement, Preston wins if it is done before January. He has the support to let that happen, no matter what MCW and BW and the WAIM hate-mongers want.
Gee, you certainly knew that. What's your point ?

My point is his contract goes beyond January! Do you expect him to quit before January?

Two different concepts; fair and legal. What legal precedence are you using to state Preston will win if he sues?

So far, no law suit has been filed, just a warning. You want to pay the man 1/2 a million because he might sue the county?

Alright, gang, let's put what Joey Preston is going through in perspective with this little video from YouTube.

For the first 10 years or so of his tenure, JP could comfortably stay in Stage 1 - Denial - even after some of us critics questioned his motives and his actions regrding the Tri-Counties Landfill project. In the past 18 months, he's hit Stage 2 - Anger. Now, at this very moment, with the help of his lawyers, he's in Stage 3 - Bargaining.

Let's all pay close attention in the next few months. Stages 4 and 5 come quickly, and Stage 4 doesn't last long. Enjoy the show. (The video is already moderated/censored, sort of.)
