It's difficult to lose an ethics violation case if you are politically connected. We'll see where the connections are made?

Oh come on sour grapes. If C Wilson had that kind of pull Preston would be a bull frog living in her farm pond. What happened to innocent until proven guilty or the commission rules.

SSHM - Read the opinion heck, read the article. The Supreme Court actually has some legal expertise on they base their rulings.  Their opinion is relevant to this case. K Gibson, Esq. is qualified to offer an opinion on contract law and he did. Do your homework when you are done laughing. Embarassed

Hey, I hope they throw the book at her. If that happens, all these self-righteous critics of Preston will go into aphasia (a form of speaking in tongues they can't comprehend).

Seems to me that Wyatt solved the problem. No one will ever take JRP's credit card again. (Yes sometimes I read "hidden" posts. Embarassed)   I must be more selective in the future. Laughing

If you are going to write a story that pertains to Contract Law, one would think the author's "expert source" would be an expert in Contract Law, since you are using said source to provide credibility. Here's a hint: Talk to a lawyer that actually specializes in Contract Law. OOPS!... stupid ...- SSHM

Good point, and exactly what thepersonnel committee is doing. The problem seesm to be that this attorney really is Bright. The committee seems to behaving a very tough time coming to grips with whatever Mr. Bright is telling them. Apparently, it isn't supportive of a buyout, or we wouldn't keep seeing these extended executive sessions. Obviously, the boys aren't hearing what they want to hear, which is, "give him the money, it'll be okay". What they are probably hearing is more along the lines of "Why the hell would you buy him out when you can release himin three months and save 8 or 9 hundred grand?"

Gee: Why pay an attorney when we have DumbBuddy to spout legal advice ?

republikin misread your post. You gave no legal advise mearly stated the probable reason for more meetings. I know this group wants to give Preston his payoff and let him go before the audit. Preston's breech of contract allegation is with the new Council not this one. The Council Preston has the anticipated breech of contract with should be the Council he deals with. Thompson, Greer and R Wilson have no need to take action they are just trying to return all the favors they owe him; dinners, drinks, jobs for the kiddies and employees hubby's, trips with girlfreinds and spouses, tuition and promises of future jobs from degrees yet to be earned. The list of favors owed is long and expensive or do I mean expansive?

Would you be such a lawyer, stupid? Strange to see the adjective stupid follow the noun lawyer, isn't it?

Why is it taking the "Personnel" committee", with paid legal counsel so long to make a decision? Has JP resigned or not?

Art K. posted on another thread that JP may be wanting to leave with full severance. I think he is right. The county cannot afford that "farewell gift" from a lame duck council!

All parties to the contract agreed, I think your scenario is a good one. Although, the "hanging around" issue is often not a good one for the new coach, leader, administrator. Usually, the "consulting" tapers off quickly, because the new coach wants to do his/her own thing. That aside, I like you thinking.

-republikin

Yeah, I bey Joey Ray does too. I think he wants his settlement so he can leave Anderson County. Then, only a grand jury can bring him back to answer questions. If he's a consultant, he can be called back by whoever controls his paycheck.

non-seq, the committee is having trouble dealing with a lawyer with the integrity to give them legal advice instead of legal sanction for actions already taken or currently under consideration.
This is my take on the buyout scenario. The personnel committee, two lame ducks and a Joey groupie, will continue to "have questions" that allow them not to report to the full Council. Then, at the last December meeting, there will be a wham bam, screw you ma'am vote to buy JRP out and the gavel will fall.Done deal, no need to squeal. And it will be a good bit more than $500K.
Still, given Joey's profligate ways, speaking financially, of course, it might still be a deal.

Envy becomes you. Or is it over-comes you? Either way, not a pretty sight.

If the Gang of Shame do that to the citizens of Anderson County on the last meeting in December, they had better leave with their King and try to set up a new kingdom in Timbuktu, cause we know them too well in this neck of the woods. I'm sure Bill McAbee and Amy will be on the stagecoach with King Joe and hope the rest of them follow.

Who would dare bring a couple buckets of tar and a few feather pillows to the next meeting. I bet the Anderson Royal Guard (a.k.a Park Police) would escort you away from the building. UPS delivery might be considered and act of terrorism. How do we continue that fine old Southern tradition in today's world?

How about following the time tested "southern tradition" of civility ?

You insult your neighbors implying that tar and feathering is a ' fine old Southern tradition'. It was never fine !

It went out with the Ku Klux Klan and hangings.
