'DIVA' also can mean 'PRIMA DONNA'.

I think the use of DIVA, in the above article, implies that Sarah Palin has a 'PRIMA DONNA COMPLEX' condition.

-citizen1

No but a Prima Donna is usually a singer who thinks more of herself that the listeners do like Brintiny Spears so I stick with my vision of Diva.- Ah well. Hillary is cool with her seeking the highest office; Sarah is too cute for that kind of ambition eh?

Yes, the diva thing started in the opera world, years ago, but now extends into many areas of other professions such as Hollywood and the music industry.

A google search for Diva will reveal this ...

Here's a news article from Hindustan ...

Bitter Infighting Over ‘DIVA’ Palin.

Bitter infighting between aides to John McCain and Sarah Palin erupted into public view on Saturday in a sign of tension gripping the Republican camp with the election 10 days away.

A series of recent surveys have suggested Palin’s presence on the ticket is hurting McCain’s chances.

The inquests into what has gone wrong with McCain’s campaign appear to have already begun, according to reports, with Palin’s camp blaming the Arizona senator’s senior advisers for mismanaging her contribution.

The Politico.com website cited four Republicans close to Palin as saying she had grown frustrated by advice given to her by campaign handlers, whom her supporters blame for a series of public relations gaffes.

The report said Palin was now increasingly willing to disregard orders from advisors, suggesting the Republican running mate was in the initial stages of forging her own identity for a future tilt at the White House.

Later Saturday, Politico quoted McCain advisers reacting angrily to the report, branding Palin a “diva.” The McCain sources said Palin had repeatedly gone “off-message” recently, suggesting she appeared to be looking out for herself.

A McCain source quoted by CNN added: “She is playing for her own future and sees herself as the next leader of the party. Remember: Divas trust only unto themselves, as they see themselves as the beginning and end of all wisdom.”

McCain was on Meet the Depressed this morning. He said he doesn't have to "defend" Palin. He says rather, he "praises" her and he is "extremely proud" of what she brings to the campaign and to the Republikin Party. You know what? I agree with him. She is a smart, bright, capable and proven leader. Here's what you better hope, McCain gets elected! Otherwise, the Dems will face Palin in 2012. By then, Obama will have worn thin with Americans after screwing up the country, the wars and international relations, wealth sharing and who knows what else. Hillary will be old and wrinkled and locked in with the Democrats in House and Senate which will make her a two-time loser.

Vote McCain/Palin

Y'all miss the point, you must earn the title of Diva, not be labeled as one by some press idiot. <LOL> Didn't the 2 appear on SNL and ask for this sexist rhetoric to stop?

Palin can't be a Diva as she hunts and cuts......Hillary can be a Diva. Sad but true. The current acceptable Prima Donna also applies to ballerinas....not just song singers. Palin misses the mark of those that have earned Diva status......but wait..............there is more to come even if they don't win in 08'. After all, you "just have to want it". ROTFL What does all this make Hillary? Why a freaking Diva...............well earned. <G>

Praise Allah, God, Mother Earth, less than 2 weeks. Then we have what we have and on to what happens next.

I agree that one has to have some sort of a tried and proven 'track-record' in order to be considered as a Diva.

And the SNL SEXIST thing?
... Here's a brief discussion about that ...

Sarah Palin Pals Around with Corrupt and Convicted Republican Ted Stevens

Wouldn't you love to see/hear a main stream media report on the congressman with cash in his freezer who has yet to be charged, tried or even chided by Queen Nancy? I can't recall his name and don't have time to look it up.

Just For Fun: Palin Spending Spree MUCH WORSE Than Thought

Okay - a little bit of levity on this historic day. Here’s a story that will get you smiling: Newsweek reports that Sarah Palin’s infamous spending sprees on clothing (something she blamed on the campaign), were MUCH WORSE than previously anticipated. Yes, that’s right, much worse than $150,000:

NEWSWEEK has also learned that Palin’s shopping spree at high-end department stores was more extensive than previously reported. While publicly supporting Palin, McCain’s top advisers privately fumed at what they regarded as her outrageous profligacy.

How outrageous was this profligacy? Well, take a look at this:

One senior aide said that Nicolle Wallace had told Palin to buy three suits for the convention and hire a stylist. But instead, the vice presidential nominee began buying for herself and her family—clothes and accessories from top stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus.

Just as in her days in Alaska, when she charged the taxpayers for her time spent at home, or countless other remarkable boondoggles, Diva Palin can’t resist grabbing while the gettin’s good. But she didn’t just use her own expense account to buy clothes, but she had some of her underlings charge it on their cards too!

According to two knowledgeable sources, a vast majority of the clothes were bought by a wealthy donor, who was shocked when he got the bill. Palin also used low-level staffers to buy some of the clothes on their credit cards. The McCain campaign found out last week when the aides sought reimbursement.

But here’s my favorite part. Ready for it?:

One aide estimated that she spent “tens of thousands” more than the reported $150,000, and that $20,000 to $40,000 went to buy clothes for her husband. Some articles of clothing have apparently been lost. An angry aide characterized the shopping spree as “Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast,” and said the truth will eventually come out when the Republican Party audits its books.

Okay, where to begin? First of all - $20-$40,000 for her husband’s clothes? Men, are you with me here? What the hell would you spend that much on for clothing? Certainly nothing that was essential in the two months between her nomination and the election. She had to know that, so clearly she was loading up while she could.

And some “have apparently been lost?” Please. They’ve been lost deep into Palin’s closet.

According to the Newsweek story, the aides kept McCain in the dark about this so as not to enrage him.

Palin, the hardcore ladder-climber, made a request to the campaign to speak alongside McCain’s concession speech .

Understand this: Sarah Palin wanted to speak as part of John McCain’s concession speech. Steve Schmidt (wisely) vetoed the request.

Well, WYATT could easily spend $40K on some new Carhardt jackets, pre-torn blue jeans, my Sunday-go-to-church Air Jordans,  heated long johns and camo t-shirts.  After all, it IS hunting season, and there's harp seals and polar bears to be killed!

As far as a woman's wardrobe....have you priced those Wonder-bras at Victoria Secret lately????? And if you want frilly lace add another $75.00   a pair of Zahara pumps runs around a grand. Of course you got to have a pair in each color, so there's $20K right there.

Jeez, when's the last you shopped somewhere besides Target or Waldo folks???  Think beyond 2 for $5.00 shirts.

Noeline,

You aint seen nothing yet.

Wait till the Palin, the Giuliani , the Romney, the Gingrich and the Huckabee factions of the party start fighting for control of the GOP.

One of the reasons the Republican party lost was a lack of unity. The Democrats used to have an exclusive on intra-party battles. This year they got smart and decided that winning was more important than ideology.

Your right Pappy, but I would hardly call citizen part of the republican party. If the republicans want to keep sniping at one another that is on them. If the elitist keep doing the number they are trying with Palin I think their careers will be very short.

I'm delighted at the division in the GOP....goes to show how dumb their policies and principles have become.  When they cannot agree amongst themselves, just who do they think would VOTE for them as a party representing America???

Not to worry everyone.  I have it on good authority that the next chairman on the RNC will be SC's own Katon Dawson.  All the GOP worrying can stop.  The party will be in great hands under Katon Dawson's leadership-why he's practically superman, spiderman, and underdog all rolled up into one.  Just ask him--he'll tell you how great he is.

Hey, if Palin had a husband who got $10Million from the Saudi sheiks or a huge book advance, she would have had plenty of money for clothes. That's how the Clintons do it.
