I would just like to recommend McGee's Irish Pub to everyone. It's probably my favorite restaurant around here. Good food, good drink, good music. Happiest place in Anderson.

Just realized this is in the wrong place. Mods, is there any way this topic could be moved or deleted? My sincere apologies.

Sure. Send a personal message to me or one of the other moderators and we'll take it down. However, I'm sure McGees appreciates the free plug, so it's not really necessary.

Well, as long as you guys don't mind it being in the local issues section, I guess it's all good. I just like to show appreciation for the small businesses around here. The good ones, anyway.....

Small business is a way of life for me now.  I have always preferred to do business with a local small businesses over any large cooperation, and now my family's livelyhood depends on those that feel the same way.

I started my business almost a year ago and for a small business to be starting out in an economy like we are experiencing now, makes it very, very tough.  So a big thanks to you Scratch for pointing out your appreciation for small businesses here in Anderson.

Oh, and for a shameless plug, if anyone needs anything computer related, business or personal, purchases or repairs, let me know WinkWink

Scratchy - I hope everyone has a chance to try Grits & Groceries. It's a bit out of the way but the food is wonderful and the atmosphere is more like an old time country store. You can sit at the counter and chat with the owners while you enjoy their cooking and hospitality.

Locally we love Jax also owned by John and Dixie of McGee's.

I would enjoy hearing others ideas of great places to eat out or things to do in Anderson.

Enjoy,
Nicole

They are off the Due West Hwy. at Saylors Crossroads (185). I do hope you enjoy it if you go. They have a special dinner with music October 25th.

Jax moved to the old Freindly's space on Main Street.

G&G were just featured in Southern Living for anyone wanting even more info.

Went to Jax the other day and they have a good Soup, 1/2 sand and mac salad plate.  Definitely not crowded.

One thing I think is very cool in Anderson is happening at Denver Downs Market on highway 76. They have an agreement with a wholesale distributor for fresh local seafood. You order it before Thursday and Friday morning it comes straight off the docks of Shim Creek. I was told this morning that they do not have any long line fishermen so swordfish will not be available but everything we have ordered while a bit pricey is just off the docks and has been wonderful.

We were talking about trying Jax this weekend, but I'm not a very "elegant" person. I just like to drink and shoot pool. But I have been wanting to check it out. Never heard of Grits and Groceries, but I'll be sure to check it out if I'm around those parts. I'm always interested in trying new dining experiences.
