No sound (didn't do voice over) and no fury pappy, economic policies take awhile before the full effects are felt. Look how long it took the Fannie Mae debacle of subprime lending to bring down that house of cards. Warnings had been sounded long before the <gasp> unexpected failing. If you think that is wrong - - use information so it can be discussed.

When our market began to "crash" what happened at the rest of the world trading markets ?!? I think the word "tanked" was used. In some countries trading was suspended to allow governments to shore up the effected institutions. Now the dollar is doing much better having previously made the US a great destination for foreign visitors due to it’s weakness. Really, all trading should be suspended until a global plan is agreed upon. That isn't as difficult as people and govenrments think to have an agreement. Minds with greater knowledge are working on that as we blog. Differences can be taken into account to stop where the global economy is headed. The people won't accept failure without a cost to the current leaders.

The G7 and Asian government have to work as the global economy we have made it or our billions of dollars we just pumped into the revitalization plan, leave the county and do no good at home. If you don’t agree with that than please give a reason.

BHO making foreign policy will just mirror the Clinton's. I guess Pappy is telling us BHO is going to put the screws to one party and not all Americans. <G> Intersting policy, can't wait to read it.

Some of the latest: "

The IMF warned on Saturday that the global financial system was on the brink of meltdown, while France and Germany pushed ahead with a pan-European crisis response to try to prevent the worst global downturn in decades.

At a joint news conference, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel said they had "prepared a certain number of decisions" to present at a Sunday meeting of European leaders as they work feverishly to restore blocked credit markets to working order.

The United States appealed for patience, but the International Monetary Fund stressed that time was running short after leading industrialized nations failed to agree on concrete measures to end the crisis at a meeting on Friday.

"Intensifying solvency concerns about a number of the largest U.S.-based and European financial institutions have pushed the global financial system to the brink of systemic meltdown," IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn said.

Hot lips,

You didn't read my words.

In response to ts who said we would be screwed if Obama made the country's policies, I replied that only the Republicans would be screwed. Democrats will welcome the change from eight years of total economic mismanagement.

As for G7 coming up with a unified policy...what was it ? European countries are so diverse economically that I doubt they will ever agree on a coordinated policy. EU is a flop so far.

Okay, PAPPY, I've spent decades studying the nuances of the English language. What is the difference between what you initially said (unquoted quote), what Janedoe said you said (first quoted quote above) and what you just said you said (second quoted quote above)?

It's 4:30 a.m., and I've given myself a headache trying to figure it out over the past 32 hours. I should be counting sheep now. I think several of 'em are missing. Undecided

JD,

Tech support wrote" then we really are screwed." in response to my statement that Obama will be responsible for policies in his administration.

I wrote in reply "Oh so true ...if you are a Republican."

Hot lips wrote that PAPPY said Obama is going to put the screws to one party.

Tech support started the screwing, not me. He thinks everyone will be screwed by Obama's policies. I don't, but if he does then it is only because he feels that way because he is a Republican.Frown

That's because the wolves are in power. Laughing JD, you knew I couldn't resist that.

What's with all the trash talk? Cry  I had hoped for a little more decorum and substance here.  We are all "grown ups aren't we?

Yes, Petunia, but unlike Democrats, the wolves at least leave me enough to make a nice warm sweater to keep me warm when the tax bill comes due and I can't afford to pay the power bill. Wink

Pappy, I know that you are at least right about what I said.  Yes, I beleive that we will be screwed if Obama makes the policies, but I am Republican because of the Democratic policies.  It's not that I dislike Democratic policies because I am a Republican.  (Did I explain that correct?)

Conversly, I am a Democrat because of eight years of unacceptable Republican policies.

I don't dislike those policies because of party affiliation, but because they are so awful.

An interesting piece of trivia:

Since 1928 no Republican Presidential team has been elected that didn't have either a Nixon or a Bush on the ticket.Surprised

This thread's topic is interesting though, don’t you think? Being a democrat doesn’t make one a liberal just like being republican doesn’t necessarily make one a conservative. There are the blue dog democrats. Mostly democrats from the south who vote fairly conservative. The same with republicans from the north and the western states who tend to be more like "Rockefeller Republicans". Honestly the way it seems these days any democrat who comes forward is attacked as a liberal.... period. I seriously doubt that if Strom Thurmond, Olin D. Johnston, or Zel Miller could be elected in this county because at one time they were democrats and therefore must be apart of the JRP and Gang of Five/BHO conspiracy to take over America.

'Harlem Voters' is the best thing Howard Stern has ever done. I'm sure our local Dems are proud of that one! If it were done in Anderson the results would be the same. HaHaHaHoHoHo

To paraphrase Ronald Reagan:

"[On election day] all of you will go to the polls, will stand there in the polling place and make a decision. I think when you make that decision, it might be well if you would ask yourself, are you better off than you were [eight] years ago? Is it easier for you to go and buy things in the stores than it was [eight] years ago? Is there more or less unemployment in the country than there was [eight] years ago? Is America as respected throughout the world as it was? Do you feel that our security is as safe, that we're as strong as we were [eight] years ago? And if you answer all of those questions yes, why then, I think your choice is very obvious as to whom you will vote for. If you don't agree, if you don't think that this course that we've been on for the last [eight] years is what you would like to see us follow for the next four, then I could suggest another choice that you have. This country doesn't have to be in the shape that it is in. "
