I just got home and found a postcard in my mailbox stating that Marshall Meadors, Tom Dobbins, and Barak Obama are Liberal Democrats.
Did anyone else get this?
My friend that means that some shallow Republican candidate is trying to insult your intelligence by making a gross generalization about that other party using an adjective (liberal) that he/she know's you don't like. South Carolinians need to quit taking that bait. Lee Atwater started that "Politics is War" mentality here more than 25 years ago and way too many SC voters still fall for it. It's time people started thinking for themselves and quit falling prey to the politics of devisiveness.
I wouldn't count my Chick-fila ckicken nuggets just yet yankeefan. The Republican brand has been a bit tarnished by the ineptness of the Bush administration and even the failure of Republicans at the state level. Are you satisfied with where we are now under the leadership of YOUR party? If you haven't read your paper this morning, we're in a bit of a bind. The economy sucks and we're in a DEVASTATING war that Bush declared won 5 years ago.
Meadors is a Democrat and pledged to support the Muslim Hussein Obama for President of the United States of America. Obama has the most liberal voting record in Congress. American Family Association had this to say about the liberal Democratic party yesterday:
"The upcoming election is the most critical election in the history of our nation. The very future of our nation’s foundation is at stake. Every person will be affected. If the liberals win, then our foundation will no longer be based on the traditional Judeo-Christian morality. It will gradually but assuredly be based on an ever shifting, ever moving foundation. If the liberals win, the damage can’t be stopped with elections two, four or forty years from now. America will forever be changed. We will keep seeing a gradual and growing hostility toward people of faith, especially Christians. The morals of our nation will continue to decline. Our children and grandchildren will pay the price."
We need to take heed and stay as far away from the Socialists that try to disguise themselves as Democrats as possible.

You know Mister Wilson . . .
I thought this was a DEMOCRACY not a THEOCRACY. In fact if you change "Judeo-Christian" in your post to "Islamic" and sprinkle in one or two other choice words, you'll see you're no different from those you are seeking to malign. Scary, I know . . .
I suggest you read Thomas Hobbes' Leviathan and understand what burecracy is and how, as much as you hate it, may be your saving grace should your canidates lose the election.

My heart is broken. Please tell me that you Republican friends that I love and respect here do not approve of the action that caused unfair, unkind, misleading information to arrive on a post card to my address. In all fairness it was addressed to my husband who has been dead for 20 years and was once a big supporter of Richard Nixon.
Petunia, I love ya, dear, but I don't understand what you expect your Republican friends who have watched the ongoing character assassination of Kevin Bryant to say about somebody from our party who has the audacity to refer to a liberal Democrat as a liberal Democrat.
Other than that "Muslim Barack Obama" bit Prevail has a tendency to overplay to the detriment of his credibility here, I actually agree with his previous statement. The greatest threat to America right now is from within. Beware of creeping Socialism, for surely it will be the death of our great nation if we do not stand in its way.
Are you kidding me?This is all the ACRP can offer? Why not have another super-secret meeting and vote to censure people who don't agree with you, hmmm? It would be just about as effective at this point. Stick to the issues that matter and not the labels that don't.
Because at this point, I just want someone to fix the mess we are in. I could really care less if its a liberal or a conservative. Just give me the right person who is qualified and lets move on, shall we?
It's a shame the ACRP does not understand the concept of stupid and that it should hurt more.

At what point did the ACRP's censure not work? Last I saw, Larry Greer (Censured twice), Bill McAbee (Censured once), and Raymond McKay (Censured once) all lost. McKay was less than 100 votes from winning the election outright, and lost after the Censure.
You should probably get your facts straight before you start talking. It's obvious you are not very good at politics. I think the postcard was very effective, and probably will swing some of the "on the fence" voters to Bryant and Bowen.
The ACRP knows what they are doing. They have been doing it a long time and have been very effective.
Prove me wrong, little Jeffy.

What was unfair about the post card? Does the Democrats not want to "raise taxes"? Do they not believe in "gay marriage"? Don't they want "universal health care"? Don't democrats believe that a woman has the right to choose to "abort" an unwanted child?
Show me where the post card erred and I may change my mind. But when I got it yesterday, I thought it was straight forward, honest and to the point. The democrats are the ones that are trying to whitewash their views. The ACRP brought out the truth.
I say good Job!
I don't understand how people can listen to the "liberal" agenda and not wonder how they will pay for all the programs. Add that to the fact that a fair % of those uninsured are illegal immigrants in the country, not citizens. The "liberals" want to include them in the stats but they won't be specific if they plan in extending insurance to them as well. The only way to pay for it is TAXES.
Has anyone asked Meadors if his stats include the illegal’s and if we have to pay for them too? As he is a “Humanist” I would think he will extend benefits to all humans no matter what their status is. Again – who pays for this?

You can't pull everyone out of Iraq and not feel the effect in Afghanistan. The void created will be filled by the Islamic fundamentalists AND why is Obama okay with one war but not the other AND he is willing to really piss off the countries in the Middle East by going over the boarders into Pakistan without diplomatic agreements. So, his foreign policy is exactly the same as Bush's - INVADE in causes he feels justified in supporting (or are seen as justified by voters) and leave a war zone that is wrong (or might get him votes for saying so).
The housing issues we face can be traced directly back to the Clinton administration when Fannie Mae was told to offer loans to families that would not qualify for traditional mortgages. An alternate way of saying that is – give loans to people that can’t afford them.

What I hear from BHO makes no sense.

The truth, dearest Suzie Creamcheese is this:
1.) You are attempting to blur NATIONAL PARTY PLANKS with LOCAL PARTY PLANKS AND ISSUES.
2.) Locally, Dr. Meadors seeks to raise South Carolina's cigarette tax by 50 cents. Currently, South Carolina sits FIFTY-FIRST (51st) in tax rates on cigarettes. That's DEAD LAST in the nation folks. His proposal to raise that tax brings us in line with other states. Hell, the home to Tobacco Road charges 45 cents on their smokes. (Source: http://www.taxadmin.org/fta/rate/cigarett.html)
3.) It's not a matter of "gay marrage," as it is more an issue to ending DISCRIMINATION. The Republican Party, by taking a stand opposing same-sex unions, is active in practicing DISCRIMINATION. By having Kevin Bryant push a constitutional amendment to define marriage as one man and one woman, he is attempting to permanently ensconce the 21st Century equilivant to Jim Crow. The difference: It's not African-Americans this time, but people of a different sexual orientation. Don't even get me started into how this crosses the line between church and state. Are you, Suzie Creamcheese, for DISCRIMINATION? Do you run around with a sheet over your head, hmmm?
4.) Locally, Dr. Meadors seeks to create a safety net when it pertains to health care. If you actually take the time to read his campaign planks, you'll see where the tax money obtained from raising rates on smokes will be used to obtain matching federal dollars (if I recall ... $3 back for every $1 provided). This is something that is smart. How can you argue with a return-on-investment like that?
5.) As I recall, locally, abortion was not a campaign plank of either the doc or the pill pusher. However, can you or are you authorized to speak for every woman? Who the HELL gave you the right to make medical decisions for someone other than yourself? Because if you have the right to deny someone a medical procedure because of how you "feel," well, what can of worms have you opened up now?
The post card is in error. The post card highlights NATIONAL issues and NATIONAL party planks; not LOCAL issues and LOCAL party planks. Before you fire off and discuss loyalty to party and "having to pledge support because of "x" party," you'd better take a long hard look at who helped Reagan so many years ago AND who continue to help GWB today.
Boll Weevils and Blue Dogs, anyone?
Go take a class in Political History, lest you become relegated to it.
Stupid . . .

I am unaware of any character assassinations of Kevin Bryant's character. While I don't agree with many of Bryant's choices, as far as I know he is a honest caring young man. I was very impressed with the knowledge he shared with us at the last debate about the way things work in the Legislature in Columbia.
I am a fiscally Conservative Democrat and I believe that the best way to win elections is by not going negative. I do not have to defend my support of Marshall Meadors and Tom Dobbins. They are both well respected members of community and have given a lifetime of service to us all.
I believe that Barack Obama should be referred to by that name only. The misleading fact that he is now practicing the Muslim faith should be left out of political disagreements here.
