Postcards from San Francisco | Witchcraft vs Warcraft?
by Samina Masood

In the midst of a failing war, an economy on the verge of a depression, and an upcoming election which will determine the course for America, is the question of Sarah Palins mental, emotional, social and intellectual competency.

Most literate people vote for a candidate based on a candidates performance and abilities.

However, when it comes to ones religious affiliations, most modern minded secular individuals prefer a separation of church and state.

In countries where the clergy dominate how the country is run one expects people to consider the candidates religiosity as getting him or not getting him enough votes. Even in Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto who prior to becoming prime minister had worn Western clothes, had to change her appearance, and indeed began carrying a rosary in her hand.

Religious masses have to be placated by the elected in order to elicit public support. But in a country like America, one expects less of an emphasis on the candidate’s church-going activities and more on the candidates ability to run Washington.

It is the tragedy of democracy that the enlightened and the educated classes have to co-exist with people who are superstitious, not bright, highly conservative, believe in hunting witches and religious ceremonials in dealing with economic realities.

The Republicans appeal to the rich, the poor in thought, the clergy, the narrow minded, the hillbillies, the Mormons, the KKK types who hanged black men and others who are selfishly trying to hang on their wealth a the cost of others.

Will this half of the country vote for Palin? And is this her qualification, her attractiveness to the uneducated who still have medieval thought?

There are two Americas, it is said, one for the well to do and one for the rest. I wish there was a way to make two Americas based on those who are educated and the rest who are making a mockery of a nation with so much to offer to the educated.

There are mullahs in the East, and clergy in the West.

On September 24 on all major television networks, the media showed real life footage of Sarah Palin being exorcised and anointed by a Kenyan witchcraft specialist calling on Jesus to save Palin from all witchcraft, endow her with money and power.

When one sees such a medieval spectacle on all major television networks, one is frightened for America.

It is the year 2008 and one could expect witchcraft rituals in an African village, but to see a vice-presidential candidate standing with outstretched hands while three believers chanting, touching and yelling religious slogans calling to the lord to give her power and money, one wonders what will happen next?

Will she call upon the witch-hunter to chant some slogans and do away with Americas doomed economy?

Can the witch-hunter find Osama bin Laden?

Is Washington going to run on the power of the lord and witch-hunters from Kenya?

One can only imagine what would have happened if Obama had been caught with his arms outstretched and a clergy man exorcising demons from his path in the name of the lord. The whole right wing would have been up in arms and dismissed him as a hocus-pocus candidate.

But when a rich white woman handpicked by McCain appears as a medieval creature calling upon the lord to give her money and power, they just smile and try to say, how sweet.

What is American politics coming to?

Is the American public so backward as to believe that Washington can be run by witch-hunters?

If that were so Washington would be a ghost town, because witches are actually bringing it down, hard and fast.

Whoever inherits the new government is going to have to perform quite a few miracles to save the worlds greatest economy from complete collapse.

Whether the new president does this by means of political prowess or needs the power of witchcraft will determine whether we are headed into the new century or backwards in time.

How complicated is it for you and your lemmings to see that even though I innoncently failed to provide a link or attribute, which I usually do, and that no where did I indicate that those were my words.

Unless you say otherwise, every word posted under your user name is yours.

If it was innocent infringement then I would have expected you to say "Oops, my bad" instead of:

"It's source is irrelevant. It's the message that counts."

and this:

"And why would they even care that's it's posted on a mb such as this? There's no money involved you fools."

Because they are stupid, redundant, and meaning less. They offer nothing to further anything but to try and irritate a Conservative. People are showing you that they don't approve of your actions.

Can you get the hint? NO........because you just don't freakin get it.....

WRONG!
If I want an expert opinion on open heart surgery, I'm not going to use the National Inquirer as a source.
If I want an expert opinion on weapon systems around the world, I'd use Jane's rather than Ladies Home Journal as a source.
If I want an expert opinion on how to be a non-contributing grump, I'd ask cwilson4/prevail and not the late Norman Vincent Pearle as a source.
Get the idea?
Sources matter! Besides, I'd like to try and see you get even THAT one (no need for sources) past ANY college professor. Can you say "F" boys and girls? Good! I knew you could.

It's exactly your type of attitude that this country doesn't need v-o-r.

Are you an expert on what is allowable and not allowable on this forum? I think not!

Do you know all about those that get slain by the spirit (re:Benny Hinn) and exactly what it's all about? Again .. I think not!!

When a member's post gets whacked simply because a few on here don't like it then they are also preventing others, that may be interested, from viewing it.

But, I guess, you and several others here really don't give a damn do you?

Your response reminds me of a sayin' I heard a long time ago ...

Q: What do you think about 'IGNORANCE' and 'APATHY ??

A: I don't know and I don't care ..

That's just one reason the GOP is and will fail this election year.

No hammy, thats not the reason the GOP will fail. the gop will fail because the media like you is in the tank for berry obiden. they refuse to ask simple real questions and they blow smoke up the great ones behind every chance they get. Remember son John McCain is far from the GOP dream guy for the job. he is the guy the independans and the switch hitting libs came out to vote for. The media loved McCain then. as soon as he gets the pick. he becomes MCsame.
what a JOKE!
much like you!

"Whatever one thinks of Ayers’ actions 40 years ago, there is nothing to condemn, and much to admire, about his leadership and commitment over the past 20 years in making schools better places to teach and learn. And there is nothing to condemn, and much to applaud, in Obama’s close association with those efforts."

because people think like this is why America is doomed and Obama will win.
McCain is too much of a wimp to put out the truth and get Obama to the bottom of the list!

I believe everyone has their own preferences as to what to believe but if one will read this link concerning Mr. Obama and Mr. Ayers it could cause some concern for some. It did me.

Palin, on Offensive, Attacks Obama’s Ties to ’60s Radical

SEDONA, Ariz. — Stepping up the Republican ticket’s attacks on Senator , Gov. Palin on Saturday seized on a report about Mr. Obama’s relationship with a former 1960s radical to accuse him of “palling around with terrorists.”

“This is not a man who sees America as you see it, and how I see America,” Ms. Palin, the Republican vice-presidential nominee, said in Colorado, according to a pool report. “We see America as the greatest force for good in this world. If we can be that beacon of light and hope for others who seek freedom and democracy and can live in a country that would allow intolerance in the equal rights that again our military men and women fight for and die for all of us.

“Our opponent though, is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect that he’s palling around with terrorists who would target their own country.”

The article to which she referred, in The New York Times on Saturday, traced Mr. Obama’s sporadic interactions with Bill Ayers, a founder of the Weathermen who later became an education professor in Chicago and worked on education projects there with Mr. Obama, the Democratic nominee for president.

The article said: “A review of records of the schools project and interviews with a dozen people who know both men, suggest that Mr. Obama, 47, has played down his contacts with Mr. Ayers, 63. But the two men do not appear to have been close. Nor has Mr. Obama ever expressed sympathy for the radical views and actions of Mr. Ayers.”

Ms. Palin seized on their relationship after the campaign of Senator , the Republican presidential nominee, said it planned to shift its strategy and try to turn the campaign into a referendum on Mr. Obama.

“Well, I was reading my copy of today’s New York Times and I was interested to read about Barack’s friends from Chicago,” Ms. Palin said at the fund-raiser in Englewood, Colo. “Turns out one of Barack’s earliest supporters is a man who, according to The New York Times, and they are hardly ever wrong, was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol. Wow. These are the same guys who think patriotism is paying higher taxes.”

The Obama campaign responded by noting that McCain officials had been quoted as saying that they hoped to “turn the page” on the fiscal crisis, which has hurt Mr. McCain’s standing in the polls, and to devote more time to attacking Mr. Obama.

“Governor Palin’s comments, while offensive, are not surprising, given the McCain campaign’s statement this morning that they would be launching Swift-boat-like attacks in hopes of deflecting attention from the nation’s economic ills,” said Hari Sevugan, an Obama spokesman. “What’s clear is that John McCain and Sarah Palin would rather spend their time tearing down Barack Obama than laying out a plan to build up our economy.”
