The 'Witch Hunter's' Annointed One.

In the midst of a failing war, an economy on the verge of a depression, and an upcoming election which will determine the course for America, is the question of Sarah Palins mental, emotional, social and intellectual competency.

Most literate people vote for a candidate based on a candidates performance and abilities.

However, when it comes to ones religious affiliations, most modern minded secular individuals prefer a separation of church and state.

In countries where the clergy dominate how the country is run one expects people to consider the candidates religiosity as getting him or not getting him enough votes. Even in Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto who prior to becoming prime minister had worn Western clothes, had to change her appearance, and indeed began carrying a rosary in her hand.

Religious masses have to be placated by the elected in order to elicit public support. But in a country like America, one expects less of an emphasis on the candidate’s church-going activities and more on the candidates ability to run Washington.

It is the tragedy of democracy that the enlightened and the educated classes have to co-exist with people who are superstitious, not bright, highly conservative, believe in hunting witches and religious ceremonials in dealing with economic realities.

The Republicans appeal to the rich, the poor in thought, the clergy, the narrow minded, the hillbillies, the Mormons, the KKK types who hanged black men and others who are selfishly trying to hang on their wealth a the cost of others.

Will this half of the country vote for Palin? And is this her qualification, her attractiveness to the uneducated who still have medieval thought?

There are two Americas, it is said, one for the well to do and one for the rest. I wish there was a way to make two Americas based on those who are educated and the rest who are making a mockery of a nation with so much to offer to the educated.

There are mullahs in the East, and clergy in the West.

On September 24 on all major television networks, the media showed real life footage of Sarah Palin being exorcised and anointed by a Kenyan witchcraft specialist calling on Jesus to save Palin from all witchcraft, endow her with money and power.

When one sees such a medieval spectacle on all major television networks, one is frightened for America.

It is the year 2008 and one could expect witchcraft rituals in an African village, but to see a vice-presidential candidate standing with outstretched hands while three believers chanting, touching and yelling religious slogans calling to the lord to give her power and money, one wonders what will happen next?

Will she call upon the witch-hunter to chant some slogans and do away with Americas doomed economy? Can the witch-hunter find Osama bin Laden?

Is Washington going to run on the power of the lord and witch-hunters from Kenya?

One can only imagine what would have happened if Obama had been caught with his arms outstretched and a clergy man exorcising demons from his path in the name of the lord. The whole right wing would have been up in arms and dismissed him as a hocus-pocus candidate.

But when a rich white woman handpicked by McCain appears as a medieval creature calling upon the lord to give her money and power, they just smile and try to say, how sweet.

What is American politics coming to? Is the American public so backward as to believe that Washington can be run by witch-hunters? If that were so Washington would be a ghost town, because witches are actually bringing it down, hard and fast. Whoever inherits the new government is going to have to perform quite a few miracles to save the worlds greatest economy from complete collapse.

Whether the new president does this by means of political prowess or needs the power of witchcraft will determine whether we are headed into the new century or backwards in time.

Wow, Citizen, you have to really dig to pull a column from an anti-American Pakistani website. Either that or you're on Obama's propaganda mailing list.

I've been told it's just fine for us to copy and paste the work of others here, long as we credit it. The writer of the above column is Samina Masood, a Pakistani journalist currently residing in San Francisco (SURPRISE!)

By the way, among the other items appearing in that Pakistani newspaper today is the following:

Barack Obama, the US Democrat presidential hopeful, initially took a unilateralist stance against Pakistan in respect of the war on terror. Understandably, his statements that he will take action against al Qaeda inside Pakistan and similar others previously stirred up a lot of debate in and outside Pakistan.

Obama’s belligerent statements cannot be brushed aside as mere pre-election rhetoric to bag anti-terrorism vote. Such provocative statements have in them the germs of enhancing the level of ill-will that already exists among the ordinary Pakistanis against the US. Obama’s saying that the US “should be making sure that Pakistan is serious about hunting down terrorists”, borders on either ignorance or deliberate mischief.

Since the war on terror began after the 9/11, Pakistan is perhaps the only country that has left no stone unturned in going after the terrorists, even risking the violation of its territory on certain occasions. The US administration should understand that appreciating Pakistan’s role in the war on terror is in its own interest.

The show of bellicosity will end up strengthening the terrorists who will reap the benefits of a discord between the US and Pakistan. For all practical purposes, Mr Obama should exercise restraint.

Sounds like even the Pakistani's want Obama to shut the hell up and stop talking (through Joe Biden) about unilaterally invading Pakistan to get Osama bin Laden. Makes a great election soundbite, but it doesn't seem to be sitting well in Karachi. Laughing

So, are you going to claim this screed as your own, or actually cite the source?

Postcards from San Francisco | Witchcraft vs warcraft? by Samina Masood

It's source is irrelevant.

It's the message that counts.

This article came from San Francisco - NOT PAKISTAN.

Where's the link to your alledged Pakistani newspaper?

Link to front page of Pakistani newspaper:

Link to Masood's column in said Pakistani newspaper:

Citizen, of course the message counts. However, when you cite a source - particularly when you copy and paste an entire column, word for word - it is both common courtesy and THE LAW that you cite the source. You cannot just arbitrarily claim somebody else's intellectual property as your own.

By the way, the message in that column gets lost in the first seven (totally wrong) words: "In the midst of a failing war ... "

After that, it's a miracle I even bothered to read the remainder of the column, since any columnist who's that much of a dumbass probably doesn't have any message that's credible anyway. I can honestly say I was not at all surprised to find out she lives in San Francisco, but I was surprised to find out the Obama camp is using anti-American propaganda from overseas to bolster his campaign for President of the UNITED STATES.

Maybe I shouldn't have been surprised about that. I read somewhere that Obama would carry the EUROPEAN PRECINCTS in a landslide if those latte sippers got to vote which, thankfully, they don't..

WRONG!

If I want an expert opinion on open heart surgery, I'm not going to use the National Inquirer as a source.

If I want an expert opinion on weapon systems around the world, I'd use Jane's rather than Ladies Home Journal as a source.

If I want an expert opinion on how to be a non-contributing grump, I'd ask cwilson4/prevail and not the late Norman Vincent Pearle as a source.

Get the idea?

Sources matter! Besides, I'd like to try and see you get even THAT one (no need for sources) past ANY college professor. Can you say "F" boys and girls? Good! I knew you could.

If y'all choose to bury my initial post with all your off-topic crap then I'll re-post as many times as I feel is necessary.

Nobody was trying to bury your post, Citizen. It's at the top of the first page. If we wanted to bury it, we have "thumbs downs" to do that. With your attitude, though, it wouldn't hurt some of us at all to do that - although burying OPINIONS isn't what we should be about. You're a Democrat, I'm a Republican. We should be discussing these issues.

And that's just what we were doing - discussing your posts credibility. I thought that's what this forum was for? Or are we supposed to just roll over and take all your bull**** without comment? I, for one, WILL NEVER PLAY DEAD TO A BRAINDEAD LIBERAL DEMOCRAT.

Off-topic posts? How much more "on-topic" can we be than discussing the source of a particular piece of information? Off-topic? You're kidding us, aren't you?

You seem to be something of a spoiled brat. Still living with Momma while finishing up high school?

Now, where's my mooseburger? I'm hungry.
