IF anyone thinks The Rick Driver Show, and WAIM A.M. Radio is a good thing for the people of Anderson County, please state the reasons you think so here and leave the rest of the thread`s alone.I will start it off by saying in my opinion that he, and his very small radio station is the worst thing to happen to Anderson Cuonty in the last 60 years.
IS WAIM AND RICK DRIVER GOOD FOR ANDERSON COUNTY
If Rick Drivers AM station is so small, why worry? If no one listens, why care? He burned you and called you out, and banned you. Please take your personal crusade somewhere else.
Alright, RINO, since we're on a thread specifically for this discussion, I'll play.
I've actually never - EVER - listened to the Rick Driver show. Wouldn't recognize him or his voice if my life depended on it. But it's a talk show, for cryin' out loud, not a threat to Western Civilization.
And as for it being "the worst thing to happen to Anderson County in the last 60 years" as you say, I would content that it's probably not even in the top five. Let's see if we can come up with better excuses from the past 60 years than that for why Anderson is in the situation it's in:
1. The Carter Administration (Jan 1977-Jan 1981) - More specifically, the near-meltdown of the American economy brought on by a combination of Richard Nixon's ill-advised wage/price controls and Gerald Ford's "Whip Inflation Now" policies that, when lifted, let directly to double-digit inflation, 19% interest rates and the crisis in the global security situation brought on by the overthrow of the Shah of Iran by Islamic extremists in 1979.
2. The end of Federal revenue sharing in the mid 1980s under Ronald Reagan - Up until the Federal gravytrain quit running on times, counties and municipalities could finance costly infrastructure projects like water lines and sewer lines using up to 90 cents on the dollar in Federal funds. Many counties - like Anderson and Pickens - missed the train because they were too busy playing footsies with environmentalists and other anti-development forces, meaning they're still trying to get some of those projects in place to this day (and having to foot most of the bill with bonds and local tax revenues.)
3. The continuing disintegration of the concept of the family - No, I'm not talking about same-sex marriage, but I am talking about rising divorce rates, rising out-of-wedlock pregnancy rates and the basic mindset that has arisen in many areas since Lyndon Johnson's well-intended but poorly thought-out "Great Society" programs. We're now facing a third and fourth generation that has little or no incentive to work for self-betterment because, after all, if Mommy got all that government help and didn't have to do anything, why won't Uncle Sam take care of us, too?
4. The "automation" of the textile industry in the late 1970s through the 1980s, followed by the rise of foreign competition from developing economies. The seeds of the decline of the American textile industry didn't start with NAFTA in the mid 1990s, you know. The fatal flaw - inability to compete - was already there. NAFTA just stripped it bare for all to see.
5. Joey Preston/Cindy Wilson - Not individually, mind you, but as a gruesome twosome that has a tendency to put pride and a win-at-all-cost mentality ahead of any desire to work through personal animosities to find a solution that everyone can live with. They're kinda like carbon and nitrogen. Individually, they're relatively harmess; put them together in such a way that they can develop a nice triple bond and you wind up with cyanide. Both of them need to be taken to the woodshed and, uh, lectured for what they've done to the confidence of the people of Anderson County in their local government.
6. And maybe, just maybe, RINO, you can get to WAIM and other media outlets here, but only in the context of the total loss of civility in political discourse - and that's something we can all share the blame for. See, RINO, you, me and others on both sides are no less guilty of poisoning the political atmosphere to the point that there just doesn't seem to be any middle ground nowadays on a lot of those issues.
So, RINO, is WAIM the worst thing to happen to Anderson County in the last 60 years? No way. Not even close. You seem to have developed a bad case of tunnel vision. Look around you sometime when you have a chance. You might actually be surprised at what you see.

You didn't state any reasons.

Worst thing NO
Best Thing NO
I would agree with JD on the Joey and Cindy thing, but the question is about The Driver show.
I do not listen to it, can't get it on my house radio, don't go out enough in the car that time of day to listen. I know he can be listened to on the computer feed, but just not my cup of tea to listen, when I have graduated to talking pictures that are not animated early in the morning.
As to someone, anyone disagreeing with someone else is what our political system is about. The left and the right come together and form a middle. Without both the system would not work.
As for The driver show, it takes all kinds, from what I hear Driver is Loud/obnoxious/speaks his mind, has followers or groupies. He is a thorn under someones saddle. He gets lots of listeners and advertisement even from the haters. It even happen here. I may not agree with his tactics but still a long way from being the worst thing in 60 years.
AS to WAIM radio, being a business that operates within Federal guidelines (rules) most of the time :) :) :) I hear they put on a form of music not heard anymore in the area, gospel music and etc.. I hear the also offer a competition or different opinion to Bortz and other nation talk show host.
I actually would choose some of their format to some radio and TV my teens listen to that has more beeps/bleeps in the broadcast than a car filled downtown street on Saturday night.
Now someone start a post asking the worst thing for AC is the past.
You are right,In that this is a personal crusade, but the reason`s you stated are the wrong ones.First I don`t live in a Trailer, but you are invited to throw stones at my brick house anytime you think you feel the need, and second I worry anytime a small gang of lier`s and thieves want to control the local law enforcement, and the local government.Look what happened when the people in Germany didn`t take a little corporal, with a funny mustache seriously.and last but not least, your HERO,has never called me out or burned me, he is to much of a coward to even defend the reputation of his immediate family.
Those who live in glass trailers, shouldn't throw stones. If Rick Drivers AM station is so small, why worry? If no one listens, why care? He burned you and called you out, and banned you. Please take your personal crusade somewhere else. -yankeefan

I am sorry, I just assumed you lived in a trailer.
Dude, you have some deep seeded problems if you:
1. compare Rick Driver to Hitler
2. believe that a small am radio station is the worst thing that has happened to Anderson County in 60 years.
3. go to Columbia on a bus and make quack, quack , quack sounds at Joey Preston in public
4. get banned from a blog, a radio station, a restaurant, and possibly school district 5. (won't be long before you won't be able leave your house)
5. think Rick Driver controls law enforcement
6. have a part-time drunk, part-time homeless friend who threatens public officials because "his" taxes are too high. ( I still get a laugh at this).
7. you go to County Council meetings and use your 3 minutes to talk about Rick Driver. (who cares)
8. think Rick Driver is my hero.
I could go on but I have wasted enough time of my day on you. But I will leave you with this. Ask yourself is everyone else wrong?
JD,I figured you for a man that was a lot smarter than you sounded in your reply to my new topic. You mentioned Cindy, and Bob, who do you think they work for? If you are gullible enough to think it`s the people in their districts, you are sadly mistaken. As far as poisioning the political atmosphere,WAIM, and the Rick Driver Show has caused more people in Anderson County to stay away from the voting booth than I ever could. You asked me to look around and open my eyes, well I will ask the same of you, listen to this local radio show for a while, and I think you too will come to realize that a small group of individual`s under the leadership of this, and a few other person`s like him are trying to take control of our local politicians, for their personal gain. They care nothing about the welfare of the average voter,or taxpayer of this county.I will say that you are right in that I take this personally, but not for myself,or anything that has or will happen to me,I Have grand children who have to grow up and live here,My fight is for them.

I think the Rick Driver Show and WAIM are good for Anderson citizens because it illustrates the very essence of our democracy, freedom of speech.
And I have the credentials to say this since I was verbally flayed on one of his shows during the last Anderson Mayor’s contest.
Freedom of speech, rino, doesn’t just refer to you.
Pappy,I`ll agree with you 100% freedom of speech is one of the most important parts of our great country, but no person should be allowed to lie, cheat,or defraud any citizen in the name of free speech. This radio announcer, does all these things and more every day.And you are right about freedom of speech not being just about me.I too have the credentials to state that freedom of speech should be based solely on truth, and proof of same.Be at the Blog Lunch and I`ll show you my thuth, and the Rick is Wrong mis-truth.

Now that is funny.
About half of what you are saying is the gospel truth, but the other half is just something that you picked from the Rick is Wrong show, and crowd. And no I don`t think everyone else is wrong,It`s just that most people don`t know,or see whats really going on,and don1t have time to look. This is the main strength of this small group,Like a lot of other things that have taken place in Anderson County, people wake up after it`s to late. And finally in answerto your question, about Rick being your hero,I know he is,and you do too.

Reasons are now stated, please read at your leisure.
You didn't state any reasons.-stringcheese
To use a qreat quote from the Rick is Wrong Show,(IN MY OPINION),the only way you can have an objective opinion of this radio station, is to experience the thrill on live radio broadcasts, and hear a grown man make his child like sounds.Worst thing NOBest Thing NOI would agree with JD on the Joey and Cindy thing, but the question is about The Driver show.I do not listen to it, can't get it on my house radio, don't go out enough in the car that time of day to listen. Hankey is right.
Look around Clemson Boulevard folks. Dillards just didn't "happen." Demographics, income, and yes, progress have caused a major retailer to land here in Anderson. For those in the know about retail shops, Dillards is very likely the first of a coming wave of additional retail shops to Anderson. For those that doubt the success of Anderson, let's read an article about Dillards from The State Newspaper:

We are not just sustaining, but growing. The hate radio crowd will not cease because of marginalization by myself and others. The market will take care of that need ... literally. The progress and change in motion here in Anderson County, which they are too late to stop, will put them out of business.
