I'm with The Queen on this one. I mean, I'm all for equal rights for women, but for the life of me I never understood why they would be willing to give up all that power. Wink

So "Queen" how does the above "help?" Seems you are a bit one-sided in your
judgements.
Thumb me down all you wish. I will NOT go away!

I find DumbBob's "tactics amusing, if not downright insulting. But that won't keep DumbBob from trying. He's got no choice" he's made his bed with the

YOu guys don't get it do ya? If Joey is not here to make it happen it will not happen. Waldrep doesn't care enough to go out and raise the money. Cindy Wilson sure as hell don't care, that is unless that 6.5 million went to her pocket. As far as a regular citizen hell we can't even get them out to vote much less raise money for an event of this magnitude. Then we have Cindy Wilson doing everything to discredit the event by insinuating they use tax money when actually they do utilize the credit card and then turn around and pay them with the money raised for the event. But then we all know she knows that too, but would rather lie than tell the truth just to attempt to hurt JP. Now the question is...Is JP going to be here? That's another thread. Now if you'll excuse me I have someone waiting on me at the Boar's Nest and I need to put on my daisy dukes and my high heels.

Speaking of "tax money" did the AIM article today say our County Council gave $22,000 to the baloon fest? Wasn't that "tax money"? Or, did it come out of their personal pocket? So was "tax money" that was "contributed" to the event used to pay off county credit cards? Seems like a "round-about-route" to me!

You are right about one thing. A lot of things would not have happened if JP wasn't here!

non-sequitur,sounds to me like you have been listening to a lot of Cindy, bob,And the rest of the Rick is Wrong Gang from WAIM.I`ll bet they have cost the taxpayers a lot more than 22,000 dollars this year, with all their muckraking, and outright lie`s,and they don`t generate a profit,or entertainment.

rino I simpy read the article and asked the questions. I didn't "listen" to anyone. If you can answer my questions... please do. If you can't... post what you will... but don't involve me in your WAIM fixation.

Hey DumbBob:

If they are their "own men" why have they shined up to the WAIM taxpayers hatecrowd ? I've heard them on the radio playing up to that bunch. I guess that is ok with you - that's YOUR audience! We can only hope that your prediction is corrent. If so, once in office, they will learn the truth, as did Ron Wilson, Michael Thompson, and Bill McAbee. The problem is "you can't handle the truth."

All I am saying is that 22,000 dollars seems like a very small amount for a County the size of Anderson,For a four day event. And as far as my fixation,if everyone doesn`t watch very closely in the next two years,we probably won`t have much of a County to worry about.

There is definitely large amounts of tax money spent on the baloon fest. If there wasn't, there would be no baloon fest, and no reason for the county to maintain the civic center complex. This year over $1 million of state taxpayer money went to the festival made possible by the guy who convinced Ron Wilson that Joey Preston was the best county administrator in the state.

Lee,

Really ... I would expect better from you. Of your claim of "taxpayer dollars in excess of $1 million dollars, I can only account for $100,000 of it. The $100,000 that I can account for came from a Competitive Grants program run by the State of SC - a program used to fund all sorts of interesting local government programs. In fact Lee . . .

Honea-Path received $5,000 for a Biodiesel Pilot Project. Specifically, the grant covered the "purchase equipment to transform cooking oil from local school districts into biodiesel to be used by town trucks."

Closer to your stomping grounds, as I understand, the Town of West Pelzer also reaped the benefits of "taxpayers funds." In detail, $5,000 was allocated for "Funding to purchase & install approx. 30 electronic water meters to allow notification of problems immediately & eliminate manual monthly meter reading."

So Lee . . . your sources for this numeric value is . . . ? Well, as a lawyer-in-training, you should know something: Listing your sources are key for both CREDIBILTIY AND ADMISSIBILITY.

SHOW ME THE MONEY, JUNIOR LAWYER-IN-TRAINING.

Republikin, I see you finally found your way back home from Cheddar. Boy, those folks are pissed about that road closing aren't they? Itwould probably havehelped ease things if AmyPlummer had better people skills, instead of threatening fire chiefs with investigations, and trying to intimidate people who are simply concerned about their homes and community instead of some realtor's commission. Maybe you could mention that to AIMee next time you see her?

Hi Stanton . . .

Bitter over the fact that Liz's story received national play and your rag wasn't even a blip on the radar screen? I thought so. Have you bothered to take those journalism classes like I suggested you should during the election? Well, if you had, you would have a much better understanding at RESEARCH and INVESTIGATION rather than outright . . . well . . . read for yourself.

Let me quote myself. Why? Because it's so easy to quote greatness:

"Allow me to quote from the article to make my point:

“By closing the road you basically trap the residents if an accident occurs on either end of Sherrard Road,” Steven Chapman, a Lewis Drive resident, said at the council meeting. “We don’t know what to do or where to go if there is an ethanol spill, a train derailment or other industrial accident.”

With this said, let's look into these claims more closely, since the focus here is CLEARLY safety.

1.) The tank farm, from historic aerial photography, has existed since AT LEAST 1948. That is SIXTY (60) years that this "risk" has existed in the community.

2.) From those same historic photographs, you can see something missing ... HOMES. The crowd that argues that this is a case of NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) need to re-evaluate their stand. The farm, and associated inherent risk was a pre-existing condition.

Spelled out ... people, of their own free will, built homes and chose to live in close proximity AFTER the tank farm, etc. was built.

3.) Sex Offenders. Yes - a divided road can and will promote additional protection from sex offenders.

You know what is so sad, Stanton? That information there, in italics, took all of thirty (30) minutes to assemble. It's all public information easily accessible online. So . . . it SEEMS TO ME either you're a horrible journalist or you have a bias against the individuals involved in this story.

Your track record would indicate that BOTH are applicable.

I guess even junior lawyers in training make mistakes. The post was supposed to say $100,000. I got in a hurry and didn't re-read the full post, so I apologize for causing any confusion. I still definitely consider $100,000 to be a large amount of taxpayer money, and the competitive grants program is one of the most flagrant examples of wasteful, pork barrel spending in our state.

What is so sad SSHM is that you can't differentiate between making a legal argument, which is what you have done above, and reporting on a single event which took place. As to anyone being jealous of Liz's story, I might point out that it came three weeks after the Williamston Journal, whichis a WEEKLY paper, began covering this issue. So, better late than never, AIM.
