I certainly hope not! But, sadly, the WAIM crowd is pushing to get Preston fired or bought-out. Either way, Anderson County will be a lessor place and have a less bright future. We get what we allow. For now, we are allowing less tha a quarter of voters, and an extreme minority of citizens to take over.

Oh, I forgot. I'm gone but bloggers keep beckon'n me back on with these teasing posts(sorry).

Are you still here republikin? The only thing "beckon'n" you is your ego. I think the voters who cared enough to vote made their wishes very plain. They expect the Council to set the policy and the Administrator to play by the rules and follow it. That does not require him to be fired to accomplish that. I am sure they will "not cut off their nose to spite their face" in regards to any employee who does a good job for the County.

Rumer has it _____ this buy out  is JP's escape plan and he will take a big chunk of cash with him (only him). He is leaving all his people to face the audit....

A buyout of three years of his contract, which would be more than generous, would amount to approximately one mil of taxes.Anyone think the county wouldn't get that back five fold the first year a real budget was put in place? Joey Preston is a lot of things, but indispensable isn't one of them.
I hope Joey gives Tom Martin a nice tip since Tom wrote his employment contract, back during the brief period that he wasn't working for Anderson County, not that that would have stopped him.

Boy plumbbob, Mr. Hankey is so sorry that you are so misinformed about what a real budget is. In your shall we say smaller then a little round green (& in a pod) vegitable mind a new administrator is going to save us all that money the first year. Get a clue as to what it takes. Joeys employment contract is what it is. who cares who wrote it. Sad that you don't see all the good work that has been done by Joey just because he is on the other party line from you and you just can't stand his attitude. Well Mr. Hankey has news for you bobby, It is Joeys in your face IM a big shot good attitude that gets the job done for the people. And although many don't like it It gets the job done, Betteer then most. Mr. Hankey will also garin-damn-tee that the next Administrator will not surpass Joeys work in four years much less one.

Well if you ask me, it would be a whole lot cheaper to buy Cindy out. She'd probably resign for about half of what it would take to buy Joey out. She's all about the money. Walgreens land deal? Beaverdamgate? Campaign money for lawyers fees?

Ahhhhhh   the good ole rumor mill.

1. Joeys packing as we speak? Three suit cases for his clothes, Five for his Money.

2. Joey has no reason to leave, He loves AC and will work here forever. He has done no wrong.

Enough prediction and someone will be right.

Is it possible he leaves AC to work for Google?

Nomadron- quite a perceptive view and makes perfect sense. The voters who cared enough to VOTE changed the face of the council, and whether or not folks agree with those changes, they are what they are. Time and again it's the silent majority who governs.  Whether in fact that be the case in Anderson is a moot point at this stage.

If in fact Mr. Preston would allow council to set policy and follow (FOLLOW being the operative word) that policy, he could probably retire here in his position as Administrator.  Unfortunately I don't think Mr. Preston's ego will allow that to happen.  He has a raging reputation in the majority of upstate counties as an ego-maniac having earned the name' King Joey'.  I can't help but feel that if Mr. Preston had spent as much energy on actual economic development, furthering and enhancing county infrastructure, etc as he has on posturing and trying to outmaneuver his opposition on council, none of us would have anything to talk about, and Cindy Wilson would very well be a different sort of politician as she would have little to criticize.  I say again, where there's smoke, there's bound to be fire, and it's been pretty damn smokey in JP's administration.  I have never understood why he's been so resistant to open government.....inquiring minds do want to know.

It is not so much about the money as it is about the attention.

How does that make government more open?

That's the point dude. The government is open. The TOGA political platform was the result of a myth that Cindy could not get the information they were asking for. The voters bought it, so Cindy and Bob and the gang better manufacture some product. They've got a huge bill of goods on back order. It'll be fun to watch.

WPD, any luck on getting copies of those answers you say Cindy has already been given to the three questions I posed to you a couple of weeks ago? You didn't forget, did you?

What's that? Can't find 'em? HAHAHAHAHA!

Guess I'll just have to put my toga on and go find 'em myself. Laughing

When did you ask me some questions JD?

Sorry about that, WPD. It was DEEPTHROAT I posed those questions to on the thread "What was the question?"

Age plays strange tricks on a man's memory ... and his knees ... and ... Embarassed

In any event, though, just like Cindy Wilson, I still haven't gotten all the answers to my questions. Probably never will. And repeating, over and over and over, that Wilson has gotten all the information she has ever asked for (that she was entitled to, at least) does not make it true.

Actually JD..sholdnt cindi provide the list. She has said (time and again) that she "hasnt received any answers"..

yet I have scoured these pages and listened to her without ever actually hearing HER specifically say (or write) the exact questions SHE isnt getting answered..

its easy to say (after receiving 500 pages of something) "This isnt exactly what i was asking for...but if she never says exactly what she is asking for..then she can always say.."I never received it"... this is a game that 8 year olds play..

she says she wants General ledger reports./ She gets them. then she says it isnt what she wanted.

So please tell us what it is she wants..cause lord knows time and again stacks and stacks of documents have been produced in answer to her questions. You know that.. So, since JP thinks he has answered her questions, then the problem must be the way she is asking for them..

dont you think?.
