10M much of it on pork projects? How do we feel that our money is being spent?
What about that Bond???
As an investor, I love it, but as a tax payer, those who voted for and approved this disaster deserve nothing less than a baseball bat to the back of their head for totally screwing over the people by approving these UNNEEDED projects and a HOSING of an interest rate on the bond they issued.....Bunch of retarded jackasses, they should all be burned alive.......
$930,000 for a 2,600 square foot building? how? why?-xenacat2
Golden toilets? Maybe they can get some from the recycle place they sent the hard drives to.
It should be noted that the cost for the Broadway Lake project is not just for the building. A new septic system with higher capacity is needed, and there will also be repairs to seawalls and docks, and some grading and excavation. So the $300+ per square foot construction cost that is being thrown out is not accurate.
Broadway Lake is one body of water in Anderson that has remained at full pond. With the dought stricken Hartwell, I suspect people will return to Broadway Lake for most water activities.
I believe that it is older than Hartwell, having been dug out with mule pulled plows back in the '30s.
Certainly with the increased usage it needs refreshing.
Leave it to Pappy to know all about any source of water ;)
Is that you I see down there with a bucket?

Yup, use ta live there. Got my house water from the privately owned Broadway Water District, the law required them to have only one rate for all residential customers, unlike Anderson. ( sorry, couldn't resist the opportunity ).
Septic systems & lakes usually = class C water. Ulk!

Set your septic tank away from the lake and have a pump station that moves your poo to it! Having the seepage go into the lake is disgusting.
Jane, I have no lake. I have a septic tank that filters over about 40 acres of land. I am about 20 miles from the nearest lake.
Cityfollks....
JaneDoe,
Septic tanks are in use around many lakes. There are DHEC set back regulations which have been tightened in recent years. Septic tanks are very effective and do not release "poo" into the water. Broadway Lake is one of the cleaner lakes in the state...you can even eat the fish.
Queen, you are so good at gentle sarcasm.Would that I had your compassionate nature. Although Janedoe earns mercy by her own gentle mien.

Old septic tanks leech waste water into the lakes, or shore line. When you are required to meet the new, current more environmentally responsible standards, you have to move the system away from the lakes or shore lines. I haven't checked what our swimming water is rated here but in many developed lake communities, the water reflects the presence of "poo" or sewage. Old systems did not take that into account.
Be thou gentle in thy rebuke. Pray may some kind soul asketh some water readings for Hartwell & Broadway lake?
