On my morning drive to work, I usually flip between WRIX & WAIM. On one morning, I understood Rick Driver to mention something about cleaning house in Anderson County government. He specifically mentioned the Farmer's Market. He appeared to be suggesting that employment of several Anderson County employees or managers should be terminated in 2009, upon the new County Council members taking office. The recent public statements by Bob Waldrep seem to complement this sentiment. (Personally, I believe that personnel matters should be addressed privately and not in the newspapers.)
Which Anderson County employees will be terminated in 2009? Much has already been said about the current Administrator. Since the obvious focus is on the current Administrator, and we can be certain that his situation will be one of the first points of business in January, I suggest we address other County employees.

Isn't it possible that the Farmers Market is directly connected to Allison Schaum, the farming consultant Joey hired who just happens to be Ron Wilson's daughter who happens to have the farm in Spartanburg that Ron Wilson owns and produces farm products that Brandon Grace puts in the Farmers Market to sell to local folks?
Is all of that possible? A Council member, his daughter who is now employed by our County, and their farm in another county using our market to peddle their products! I don't really know but it just appears that there are some strange connections around the Farmers Market to me. Someone straighten me out if you have a better explanation as to this.
Prevail, I really do try to avoid saying negative things to people on this blog, so maybe you can consider this construtive advice. Please please get the psychiatric help you need. There are not, I repeat NOT, grand conspiracies every where you look. The Farmers Market is not a covert operation. Plenty of farmers, local hard working people peddle there wares there, most probably don't even know who their council person is much less are their benificiary. Leave them and their venue alone. There have been Farmers Markets in Anderson and around the country alot longer than JRP has been administator.

There are not products from outside Anderson County in the Farmer's Market. None. Ever.
Please stop making baseless innuendo. You are wrong.

Amen to that Jack! Prevail when will you stop your baseless allegations. Talk to people who are on the Farmers Market Board. They will tell you that they diligently check to make sure all the produce and products sold there are from Anderson County.

While I don't think anyone should be fired without just cause, in SC it can be done unless the employee is working under a contract and the contract is not broken. I would assume (and hope) that county employees are not working under a contract.
Wrongful termination can be against federal laws, too.
However, you are correct that this is a right-to-work (sic) state.

It will be so fun when County employees sue for wrongful termination..and loss of wages (anyone remember the saint, Jackie Hunter?)...

My name is Alexandria Holden, and I am 14 years old. Since December the 9th I have resided in the home of Brandon and Leah Grace. Before I moved in, I had met Brandon a total of 3 times, even though he didn't know me he was the first to suggest that I come live with them. The things that I read about him on the blog and hear on the radio is about a man I have never met. The man I know loves his community, loves his family, and would do anything for any of us. But what I have noticed is that no one cares about the truth, and it seems as though all anyone cares about is the drama, and hope that he can't be the good man that he is! Take away the drama and what you are left with is a man who takes my sister and me to school everyday, coaches my softball team, takes my sister to karate, and cooks delicious dinner. This doesn't leave time for all the bad things that some people claim he has done. My wish is that people would seek the truth instead of taking the easy road and beleive the worst in other people.
Brandon is a really nice man but his law suit was a political strategy, thought up by his boss to cause trouble for a politician he and the many people wanted gone. They hoped the law suit would change the outcome of the vote, but it didn't. Poor Brandon used to stay out of the dirty side of politics but now he has jumped in and will have to take his lumps for doing so. He's become part of what most of us hate sweetie. I bet he wouldn't want you on this blog if you are one of his "kids".
Nick - shouldn't you have to be old enough to vote to be on here? We don't want any one's children getting hurt because they are too young to understand and just love their mentor do we?
Alexandria's post drives home a point many of us have been expressing since this blogs inception- children can and do read this blog watch what you say and the language you use. And Jane no matter no matter what barriers Nick puts in place children will find a way to break through them particularly one as intelligent as Alexandria seems to be.

Alexandria is one of my "kids". Since her mother passed away, she has lived every minute of her life in our household and she is as much a "Grace" as any of my other children. However, you are right. I would not want any of my kids on this forum. Her post was done without my knowledge, and I will be instructing her to stay away from this blog until she is older. Although I am proud of her willingness to speak her mind and defend what she believes.
As for the other things mentioned. I can take my lumps, when they are deserved. I still am staying out of the dirty side of politics. This lawsuit has nothing to do with the election, and I think that will be clear once it really starts in earnest. I didn't become "a part of what most of <you> hate" at all. I also didn't even get involved until lies were spread about me. I think you will find that I am still the nice man you thought I was and some of your facts are just inaccurate.
My only hope is that justice will be served in the courts: civil and public opinion.
There are many other children is this community who are harmed by the malicious remarks made about their county employee parents on this blog, on the WAIM radio station and in the Anderson Independent-Mail. Even if they don't see it first hand, other kids, their teachers and their neighbors certainly see it and reflect it to them. No kid deserves to have absurd accusations recklessly thrown about regarding their parents and certainly they shouldn't have to read speculation by mean people that their mother or father will lose their jobs. How cruel is that?
Brandon, Kudos to you and Leah for stepping up to the plate and helping this young lady and her sister. It takes special people to do that.
Now a question I have for some of you here this morning is this; Have you made hateful comments aboyt Ms Wilson, Bob Waldrep, Stan Welch, Ron Wilson, Joey Preston, and the list goes on. Aren't these folks parents, too? Do you think their children are hurt by the comments made about their parents?
Just a thought; Challenge politics but respect the individual's right to have a different view point.
