Actually JD, there's more form to the Haiku than just 17 syllables.  It has three lines, five syllables in the first line, seven in the second, and five in the third.  In those seventeen syllables, the writers attempts to draw a word picture, sort of imitating a Japanese character.
High in the tall trees,Low amongst the waving rushes,All ducks waddle and quack.
I know that most people with a public school education would know Haiku.  I taught for 26 years in Anderson County and Haiku was one of my favorite ways to teach poetry.

       Well, Merrymac, you may be totally disappointed to learn that ol' JDTippett doesn't consider it to be poetry unless it has a meter and rhymes. Haiku isn't poetry in my book. It's random thoughts strung together by somebody who THINKS he can write poetry.

I know JD.  But have you ever tried to get 14-15 year olds to write iambic pentameter octets with a rhyme pattern of abcc abdd or even aabbccdd.   They get lost after you try to explain iambic and we want even suggest dactylic tetrameter.  You know Shakespeare's plays didn't rhyme unless it was at the end of a scene.  Then the rhyming couplet let the audience know that scene ended and a new one was to begin.  Shakespeare had no curtains to pull between scenes and acts so he used that little trick.

Opie some people just have no respect, you are trying to appeal to a gangland Jersey mentality, trust me the walls in your house will be more responsive to your common sense.  Is it not strange how this character can continue to impune at will and still remain as a blogger.  Did not another blogger ( big dawg) get thrown off after just one posting which was supposed to be ofensive? 

      Look, Mark, I deleted two posts earlier. One of them was by Wyatt. One of them was by Muckraker. Both were for the same reason - they dealt with personal information regarding another ATZ member that has nothing at all to do with politics. (Wyatt chose to address his situation in a subsequent post. He can say whatever he wants to say about himself, I guess.)
      If you want to accuse us of being unfair or one-sided in those decisions, then so be it. But you're wrong.
      Now, enjoy your stay here. Have your say, but keep it civil. And, really, if you don't like the moderators or the moderation here, just leave quietly and save us the trouble.

      I don't know, Mark. Possibly because he's been insulted and intimidated by many of those he insults here for DARING to exercise his right to seek redress in a court of law or for DARING to spearhead a community project that happens to be in Gracie Floyd's district?     Who knows? Maybe the guy just doesn't like you.

Just one note JD, Homeland Park is actually constructed up of 3 districts. The largest part is Tommy Dunn's Then the other 2 are Gracie Floyd's and hold on to your hat,  Edwin Moore's . So dribble crowd please remember when you knock HP you are knocking your council chairman.  Oh yeah and he could'nt even be bothered to show up and help his district out last week..
