I was kind of wondering why in all that is American, are the two "presumptive candidates" politicing overseas. I mean really WHY? That would be like someone from England, Germany, Spain, Italy, or even France coming to this country to get elected in their country, again I ask WHY? This is crazy! It makes no sense those people can't vote in our elections anymore than we could vote in theirs. This whole election season is just nuts.

Noeline - and this is sort of in defense of Obama's trip, I just picked up this Obama quote from the Associated Press wire, apparently something he said earlier today:
"I'm more interested in listening than doing a lot of talking, and I think it's very important to recognize that I'm going over there as a U.S. senator," (Obama) said. "We have one president at a time."
That's a remarkable statement from a man who previously seems to have believed that Congress should have a say in ground operations once they've authorized military action. For years, he has said we should have 536 Commanders in Chief (435 member of the U.S. House of Representatives, 100 U.S. Senators, and one President) instead of just the one specified by the U.S. Constitution.
It seems you CAN teach a middle-aged Senator new and important facts, particularly if they're helpful to a campaign back home.
Anyway, if he is sincere in that - if that line wasn't a clever line from one of his advisors - then I commend him. Remember, John McCain has made numerous trips to Iraq and Afghanistan as a U.S. Senator, and I, for one, am not upset that Obama is doing likewise. I just wonder what took him so long, since he has claimed to be an expert on those wars for a long time now.
Still, you know and I know that this trip plays directly to his campaign - as evidenced by the fact that he is accompanied by anchors from the three major networks and will received more coverage than even the President himself would received for a similar visit. And, unlike the President, he'll almost certainly get a free pass on those staged photo-ops and verbal gaffes resulting from fatigue and jet-lag.
