There are currently areas in Anderson County that have Easley and Greenville addresses. Just as Greenvile County has Pelzer and Piedmont Addresses and Abbeville County has Honea Path addresses.
And the Belton Post Office area covers almost as much area as Anderson!Yeah, my post indicated that I'm aware of that, Ron. And we have Marietta addresses in Pickens County. I recall that when we were setting up our 9-1-1 addressing system back 15 years or so ago, it resulted in massive confusion regarding which agency responded to which calls. It's been worked out now, I hope.
I was really just trying to stir up the conversaton. Been really quiet here lately, huh?
Josiah,
Agreed that the website is more than a tad behind schedule when it comes to updates. If I'm not mistaken, it is the Clerk to Council, Linda Eddleman, that is responsible for either providing the up-to-date information to the IT Staff (to update the county website) OR is supposed to update the website herself.
Either way . . . take 2 hours and get it done, please.

I saw in the Anderson Journal of July 25, 08 in an article by Taylor Smith that Anderson has fallen in economic ranking from number 265 in 2004 to 278 out of 363 cities in 2007. In dollars produced that is a fall from $4.5 billion to $4.1 billion. Columbia ranked number 69 with $29.1 billion dollars produced. The Anderson County Economic Development Office could not be reached for comment. With all of the tax dollars being spent by the Economic Development office (including trips overseas) shouldn't we be going up not down? The information above was provided by the United States Conference of Mayors.
I don't think the economy as a whole can be changed by Cindy Wilson or Joey Preston.
We as a nation are in a slowdown.
Anderson County MAY have shown a drop in numbers because of the public bickering between Council and it's hired Administration. It has been noted statewide and probably nationwide.
I would say one of Anderson County's biggest faults is infrastructure. Without proper infrastructure new business will not look twice.
Council as a whole has allowed our existing roads go to the point of failure. Now wanting a bailout with a one cent tax, that in HARD TIMES if it passes may not render the amount of dollars expected.
If not then the needed repairs still may not be funded before the Flowers are planted and extravagant building upgrades made, leaving some roads and bridges still in need of repair.
The condition of the roads is also the fault of your state government for passing the buck. Be sure to thank K. Bryant for me. Maybe he should stop blogging, stop worrying about county politics and check into it.
virginia good point, but the county has no one to pass the buck to.
We as a county can't be like our mother (federal government) and go trillions in debt.
Our city and county government has to stop spending on unnecessary projects and maintain what we have.
Our landscapes and flowers can be done with donations by the lovely ladies of 100!
We as voters have to halt our elected officials wasteful spending from municipalities to the commander in chief. (whoever it be)
We as a county should outsource our projects only as a last resort, and The United States should (IMO) Never outsource.
I think it's a shame that our major industrial ports are managed by companies from other countries. Its more of a shame that we allowed it!
Mister Wilson,
Learn who maintains what roads where. While Anderson County does indeed have a large number of roads it is directly responsible for, the roadways you specifically mentioned in your post (Clemson Blvd to Belton and points beyond) are largely under FEDERAL JURISDICTION.
US76? US29? US178? Hello . . .
Or, as Virginia pointed out, Kevin "I blog, interfere in local politics, and hang out at the SC Policy Council rather than my Senate Chamber" Bryant is more than partially to blame for the issues found on STATE ROADS in Anderson County. If he wasn't so busy BLOGGING, he could be developing a working relationship with SCDOT to get roadways paved and repaired. For example:
SC81? SC28? SC28-Bypass? SC24? Hello . . .
Again, Mister Wilson: Know what you are talking about before shooting off at the mouth.
STUPID STUPID STUPID.

sshm, drifter, josiah (all the same person), do you mean that there are roads off the US highways? My, my when were they built? Maybe those are the roads some people say are in need of repair. Huh? You have no idea what out and about means. You foreigners are lost and should go back to your liberal former homes and leave the honest people of Anderson alone. I believe we can get by without you and your stupid posts. You seem to stay on your computer 24 hours a day and someone from the Health Dept. should check on you. Have you ever held a job?
