Art, Stan and I had a very interesting evening. We drank some beer with two delightful ladies, both dear friends. Believe it or not, Bill Striewing came into the very bar where he and I were tipping a couple. Stan of course insisted on not turning his back to striewing, who is a notoriuos back stabber, and in Stan's opinion, a liar and a weasel.
I hadn't read your latest query yet at that time, but I can't imagine that Stan wouldn't be happy to have any county staffers that Joey Ray would allow to come on the show. But we both know that won't happen, unless it's Holt Hopkins, because JRP knows Stan's position on the sales tax propsal.

WPD, you couldn't be more wrong about Mr. Ricketson. He was working in Georgia before being hired by Anderson County. He's no hack, he just has little patience to play the political game

Mater

I didn't say You or I had to like the team, just that a good manager would put ones they trust together.

I have a question for you. How many times has Council reprimanded JP for the actions of Wyatt, Thompson, Logan or Striewing or JP himself?

Have pay raises been withheld, letter in his file? (I don't know, I am asking)

I may agree with you in ref. to your opinion of some of the players you named, because of their actions, but you and I may also disagree on district 7 representation, monetary asset or liability?

And so it begins..

as predicted...the "winners" are now starting to focus on the rest of the adminsitration....thats really all this has ever been about..

the good ole boys got kicked out 12 years ago...and lost almost a generation of employment for their families and friends. Remember all the criticism that preston received for not "hiring local"? (read to mean kinfolk and friends of council members and party officials)..

I bet they already have a crew of good, well connected locals lined up to move in and retake their "rightful" positions. And suddenly, "qualifications" wont be talked about...

We will see if our new Council are good farmers.

I don't believe a good farmer will spray roundup on his whole crop to rid his field of a few weeds.

Then there is the 'want to be farmers' who believe the whole crop has to be plowed under. Then they will junk the tractor if that don't work.
What the heck, call the bank (tax-payer), we need all new equipment and all new personnel, it's your farm and you have to pay for it.

AVenter, council can't reprimand any of those you listed, except for Preston. According to Preston and his bank of attorneys, that power lies with him under home rule.

That's true mater. According to the Administrator style of government, the council can only hire/fire the County Administrator and the Clerk to Council. The Administrator hires/fires all of the county employees and they answer to him, not the Council. Thus, the county employees have no obligation to the council. It is ran much like a proper company is ran, and rightly so. It is really a very good way to run a county. Having the employees subject to the council would be a complete nightmare, and progress would be very minimal.

bobloblaw,
What you say is true and I assume that is the reason Cw & BW want to put in some stipulations about whom can be hired by the Administrator now rather than later. If they wait until Mr Preston hires McAbee, Thompson etc. it would be too late.
It never ends...just like "As The World Turns" or "Days Of Our Lives".
