Meadors versus Bryant
I'm not the one giving Bryant a thumbs down, If I don't like you'll know it, I won't go around giving a "thumbs down" to your post. Now since I didn't see anything obscene in them, I'll just assume it to be backlash against a half-ass political do nothing that gets paid from the fruits of our labors to sit around and do nothing. People are getting tired of the gross incompetence and the problem creation coming from government and they're expressing it however they can. (personally I can only hope that they'll move toward action)
Also, JD, don't you vote in Pickens county anyway? For someone who doesn't have a dog in this fight, why do you care so much anyway?
I'm not opposed to grants, WPD. For cryin' out loud, my job for eight and half years was to FIND grants and get 'em for my county.
I was actually trying to make the point that the Governor's is the chief administrative officer for the state and vetoes a number of items in the budget over concerns for the STATE'S bottom line, without taking local wants into account. LOCAL government, meanwhile, don't mind if it costs the state $58 million, as long as they get their own share of it.
The Governor vetoed more than just the Anderson County money, by the way. And I didn't necessarily agree with him, especially two three years ago when he vetoed more than FORTY SPENDING ITEMS THAT HE, HIMSELF, HAD REQUESTED IN THE BUDGET. DUH!
But the process and the mindset are two reasons why budgets only go UP, not DOWN. And any elected official who tried to buck that trend - even one elected as a fiscal conservative - suffers verbal abuse from the locals.
Now, here's a question to ponder (and please correct me if my premise for the following question is wrong):
The money to develop Dolly Cooper Park was apparently ESSENTIAL during that budget year they were dealing with back in the spring of 2007. So essential, in fact, that vetoing that money from that budget (the current year's budget, which ends June 30) that howls of protest were raised throughout the area.
I like parks and recreational facilities, and I'm glad the state assists in the funding of them. But as a matter of principle, the Governor has to try and prioritize somewhere.
Sorry buddy, no need for fancy polling data or anything else to stop your indomitable "freight train". Actually, the two WMDs of your "freight train" are, unfortunately for you, built into the vehicles purpose: it's foul smelling cargo and, the number one contributing factor in FT destruction, a reckless and incompetent conductor.
Wasn't aimed at you, Zn, but nobody should be intimidated. It's just a joke, okay?
Nope, JD, it's not up to me. I was just say'n. I guess I struck a nerve. You are good at giving advice but still adjust'n to accept'n advice. It's ok.
PlumBobby:
Other the State Guard awarding the rank. What claoms has Preston made about being any kind of hero ? It was simply reported that he was named to a rank in the State Guard. The State Guard does service for South Carolina. I suppose in a rare occurance they might be called to guard our coast or perhaps to be part of some troop action. Who knows? Why be so nasty about it. You seem a bit obsessive about Preston. Let it go. No I will not KYA - military or toherwise.
Damn, JD, that was impressive. Not to run you off, but have you thought about starting your own blog?

I said Meadors had nothing to do with that list so you can't blame it on him, nor has he given any indication he would support such a list. And I said nothing against Bryant for voting against it.
I don't play games with word twisters and I'm not about to start with you. If you would like to have an intelligent debate with me about the candidates with out twisting my words or the facts than I will participate. If you continue to twist and manipilate I won't. End of discussion.
Then what was your point?
