Mr. Tippett, he is now called Colonel Preston, so I assume that is his rank. And you are right. He is a member of the same Sons of confederate Veteran Camp that Ron Wilson is. Also Dan Cooper, Brian White, Sen. Kevin Bryant, I believe Brooks Brown is a member also, and a number of movers and shakers. But they are all experienced at playing both ends against the middle, so I wouldn't worry about that too much.
Meadors versus Bryant

Talk about scum.
"Real fighting men and women?"
Would you wake up and get a clue about how today's military functions? I'm going to speak specifically to US Army here. While everyone in the US Army goes through Basic Training and AIT, there are three sub-divisions of Army MOS(es): Combat Arms, Combat Support, and Combat Service Support.
I got news for you: The JAG Officer or the 1SG in the Finance Corps are just as much "real fighting men and women" as those folks who are 11M or 11B in Combat Arms. Your attempt to smear an individual because you find his service to country distasteful serves to smear all who wear the uniform and paint you in the poorest of light.
If you are a true patriot, you support everyone, not just those that you find "rise to YOUR standard of being an American in uniform."
Pathetic.
Before you even raise the keyboard to respond, know this: My family is an Army family. My Grandfather served 33 years in service - WWII, Korea - decorated veteran. I know what a patriot is and to what our armed service men and woman have sacrificed, both then and now, for our common good.
Come back and talk with me once you've spent Christmas in the Ardennes.
Idiot.

There are many people who sincerely believe that suicide bombing is martyrdom, to be rewarded in heaven.
There are many people who sincerely believe in female circumcision.
There are many people who sincerely believe that the holocaust never happened.
Sincere belief is not enough.
We need someone smart, honest, and willing to work to accomplish goals.
Mr Bryant has demonstated himself to be none of those things.
Mr. Bryant has demonstrated that he is in the pocket of business lobbies. He has demonstrated that he is virtually incapable of passing a bill. Furthermore, his political stances have demonstrated a lack of good-old-fashioned common sense.
You spent Christmas in the Ardennes, SSHM? My Dad did, too. Bronze Star with the little "V" for valor on it - and he didn't get it for the frostbite that plagued him for the rest of his life. But I wasn't there, so I guess I shouldn't comment much.
Idiot.
Wait, let me finish that: ARROGANT IDIOT.
(By the way, I agree with you that we should respect all branches of the military, including the National Guard. Demeaning anybody's service - as the Democrats have tried to do consistently to President Bush for his service in the Air Force National Gaurd, is wrong.)
there has been no bigger joke or greater insult to any real member of the military since Bill "Going to Viet Nam would hurt my political future" Clinton was actually commander in chief
WHAT!?!
How ridiculous is that?
If you are going to talk about offenses to the military from it's leaders, how about Chickenhawks George W(hat national guard service) Bush and Dick (Five deferrments) Cheney.
Two men who did all they could to avoid war... until they made it to the oval office.
Neither of which can be done without more government...

I'm glad your post showed up after I had amended mine with the last paragraph, SSHM. You made my point.
Arrogant idiot.
(By the way, Cheney was Secretary of Defense during the first Gulf War. Really incompetent, wasn't he? Yeah, right.)
Oops, that was Jack Ruby who made my point. Sorry, SSHM.
Hi, Jack! You're not an arrogant idiot. Really. I pulled a Cheney and fired before I clearly identified the target.
Arrogant douchebag.
BTW, i never said that Cheney was incompetent, he's proven himself to be right on target... but only if it's friend's face
Jack, see my complete post above, after I finished editing it in the three minutes we're graciously allowed to make such amendments. Looks like I need a trigger-lock on my keyboard.
I do stand by my assessment of SSHM, though.
Jack . . .
The same could be said about too much government weakening both our fight on illegal immigration and tougher positions on crime.
Ask SCOTUS how they feel about the death penalty for child rapists . . . :(

I'll take arrogant, but I am not an idiot.
Sorry, to be a impudent whippersnapper.
I was going to put a smiley in, but I can't edit...
sigh
Jack,
Just put him on the AARP mailing list and make certain he gets his senior coffee. I promise he'll be half the grump he normally is.
Besides, Frank Lloyd Wright put it best when he said:
"Early in my career I was a very arrogant young man.. I was so sure of my ground and my star that I had to choose between an honest arrogance and a hypercritical humility... and I deliberately choose an honest arrogance, and I've never been sorry."
Quote for the truth!

Supreme Court?
I don't know what you are getting at there. I don't believe in the death penalty anyway. We have killed too many innocent people already.
Being tough on crime takes several things
- Police Officers
- Jails
- Corrections officers
- Misc jail staff
- judges
- lawyers (at least one gov't funded)
- etc
My main problem with "conservatives" is that they are all about "smaller government". Until is comes to my personal life, the military, crime, or any of those 'conservative' issues- where they want to have MORE government.
I just wish "conservatives" would stop calling for smaller government. As George Bush has proven, "conservatives" don't really want smaller government, they just have different priorities for what government does. So lets cut the BS, and discuss what those priorites should be.
