Raymond MacKay and Bob Waldrep will be on WRIX (103.1FM, on your radio dial) this morning, Friday June 20. Bob will be on between 8:00-8:30am with Raymond to follow between 8:30-9:00am.

This will be your final opportunity to hear both individuals before the run-off on June 24th.

I thought they would allow the democrats go first. Interesting that the incumbent Republican would go first, then the Democrat challenger. Protocol always lets the incumbent go last.

George is just trying to hurt Bob. George is just hurting himself. He is a democrat, who turned republican.

Nobody listens to that station. What a bunch of idiots.

lifelonglibertarian,

In case you were engaging in selective listening (or more likely, commenting without listening to the radio), George Duckworth went over THREE TIMES the fact that Bob Waldrep had called for a coin toss and that he had LOST the coin toss.

Bob Waldrep was on air during the THIRD confirmation of the coin toss and confirmed that he had indeed lost the coin toss.

Next time you lack the information to be accurate or just choose to spout misinformation, do us all a favor and keep your mouth SHUT.

Speaking of Waldrep . . .

Since some of you are all ready commenting without having listened to the first bit of this (newsflash: you won't hear Bob or Raymond on WAIM this morning . . . they are on WRIX), let me give you the highlights up to about 8:15 this morning:

George opened with the mailing that Bob Waldrep's campaign had sent out about Raymond MacKay and voting in January. George gave essentially free reign for Bob to fully explain why it's important to be a real Republican.

As the dialog continued, the issue of Bob's history of changing parties came up.

Waldrep ducked the issue by saying he couldn't remember what party he was with in 1983 and that we should only go back to 1994 . . .

It was at that point I had heard enough and opted to turn off the radio.

I had just heard the textbook example of what a hypocrite is. Just in case there is ANY confusion:

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/hypocrite

1. a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, esp. a person whose actions belie stated beliefs.
2. a person who feigns some desirable or publicly approved attitude, esp. one whose private life, opinions, or statements belie his or her public statements.

It's pretty clear-cut who to vote for on June 24th, District 1.

Raymond MacKay

Congratulations SSHM, you can read a dictionary. Did you find Bill McAbee's picture beside hypocrite? "I won't raise taxes." "Yes, I voted to raise your taxes (4 times)

Oh we're back to this again . . .

District 4 elected an individual that raised taxes (via his position on the Board of Education) seventeen times, and can be confirmed by the minutes of the Board of Education, located online at http://www.boardofed.net/

I wish I could teach you that 17 is greater than 4 . . . /sigh

I listened to some of the program this morning with Waldrup and MacKay and even though I don't have a dog in this fight, I would have to give the nod to Waldrup.
Even though Waldrup was unsure (like Ronald Reagan use to do) about some things Mr MacKay came across as being arrogent and has already developed the talent of double speak.
A couple of things that got my attention.
1- Mr MacKay was critical of Mr Waldrup about voting against the Kohl developements incentive package. If I am not mistaken all of the council people voted against it. I know that Floyd & Greer did and I am pretty sure that McAbee & Thompson did. So I guess he is saying that if he had been on council he would have voted FOR the incentive package . Thats really working with the other council people.

2- He said that Mr Waldrup's voting against the budget on third reading was because he opposed the salary increases, Tri County Techs increase etc. He somehow knew what Mr Waldrup was thinking. Mr Waldrup has said that he voted against the budget because it had a 25 million increase and he feels that moneys can be cut from the budget that would allow the salary increases etc.
I guess Mr MacKay is saying he would have voted for a 25 million increase in the budget.Since the taxpayers fund the budget then he would have voted to take another 25 million from us taxpayers.

The more I hear Mr MacKay talk the more he comes across as a man that just can't be trusted to do the right thing. He seems to be a special interest candidate all the way.

Sorry JohnB. Bob Waldrep is the one who is not trustworthy. He's proven to be uncivil, untrustworthy and downright malicious here toward the end. Moreover, he's been a blind follower of Cindy for the past 18 months. "It's time for a change". We need positive leadership and Bob has failed to provide it and must be replaced.

Uncivil? Bob waldrep is the most civil person on that council. He constantly seeks to use humor and civil discourse to lighten the mood and defuse situations. He talks about process instead of personality. If anyone on that Council is uncivil it's Bill McAbee and Gracie Floyd. In a long line of remarkably stupid posts, JC, you have just raised your personal bar considerably.

JohnB, he admitted this morningon WRIX that Joey supports him. Of course, the real question is what the hell is Joey doing supporting, or opposing, anyone?
Of course, what do I know? I have been baffled by the fact that he hasn't already been lead out of a Council meeting in handcuffs ever since he admitted more than a year ago that he makes a list of potential campaign donors available to the council members he favors.
God, wouldn't that be great? Middle of a Council meeting, the doors open and SLED agents walk in to arrest Joey! Bill Striewing is suddenly faced with his worst nightmare! He's paid to protect the man! What's he gonna do? Drag iron on SLED agents? Take a bullet for Joey? Or just share a pair of cuffs and leave with his patron?
That and the SC Lottery gives a fella a reason to get up in the morning, know what I mean, Vern?

"Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum???" ; "We're not in Germany"; Infamous Finance Department Raid with Cindy and Channel 7. And good Lord, before he turned so mean and vindictive, I was embarrased for him over his attempts at humor - he was booed. Bob should leave "stand up" comedy to the professionals. And his unrelenting negativity and incivility alone are reasons why 54 percent of district #1 voted against him last Tuesday. Time for a change.

Dunebuggy, do you vote? Or do you choose not to because it would be a conflict with your profession? Well duh, of course Joey would vote for a civil, non-jaded candidate for his personal county council district (#1) representative. Bob raids county departments with TV cameras in tow. Bob calls people names on the council floor. Bob seconds all of number 1 Joey hater (Cindy Wilson's) motions to discredit and humiliate Joey. In short, Bob publicly whacks Joey up side the head with a figurative boat paddle at every turn. So yes, the Hatch Act gives Joey the right to support the candidate of his choice. And yes, Joey is smart enough to know that a civil and non-jaded representative would create a more effective Council, regardless of that representative politics. Time for a change.

actually, John, I believe that Mr. Preston resides in District 7.  Cindy is his representative.

Joey Preston's house sits on the edge of District #1. Crestview Road is the line between Districts #1 and #7, and Joey sits just south of Crestview Road. So the District #1 Council representative is indeed Joey's personal representative on Council.

All the Joey haters know where he lives - many of them have followed him home time and time again - political stalking at its worst ! If I lived in District #1 (I don't - you know, the Dr. Brown letter?) I would be voting for MacKay - and aginst Bob and his ways.

I do thank you and stand corrected.
