First things first. We get Raymond Mackay elected to County Council - number one priority. Next we take our Republican Party back. They've been picking favorites, harrassing voters and threatening office holders long enough. This latest violation of decency and party rules crosses the line.
Corrupt Anderson County Republican Party Leadership
Raymond is above this, but somebody ought to sue the local Republican Party chairman for violation of Raymond's civil rights. I just don't think you should be able to take information about how somebody voted (or how they didn't in this case) and use it to intimidate them and others. This is voter harrassment. How many people in the future will be worried that their past voting record or that voting their conscience will be publicly used against them. This is morally wrong and if it is not legally wrong, it should be. By the way, Charles Crowe is on the Anderson County Republican executive committee and his wife is on the Anderson County Election Commission. Is this unusual?
Or maybe you would see the light and realize you're a better fit in the Democratic Party than in the Republican Party here in Anderson!
Lets just ban all the political parties, make everyone run as a independent and just be done with it....... Without the party you can't have corrupt leadership now can you? Party affiliations are for those who can't think for themselves anyway....Its high time we stop letting the few control the many...
That's funny. Civil Rights? Isn't he on the Republican ballot? It seems you want to surpress the parties 1st amendment right.
Information used that is public record is not harassment, it is public record.
I don't see anyone being harassed or not allowed to vote or candidacy denied. I do think that maybe Mr. MacKay should have listened to Ahammett and joined the democratic party. I think he would have had a better fit.
Which civil rights have been violated? Are you actually saying public records and voting records should not be used in elections? I think we all get it by now. Raymond voted in the Democratic Party Primary for President and has made campaign contributions to Democratic candidates. He says he has been a Republican since the 1970's and has been a Republican delegate at the state convention. Bob has been a Democrat, but has been Republican since the early 90's. Those are the reported facts that are not in dispute. Everyone must decide for themselves whether any of these facts matter to them.
Prevail, this is totally unfair and uncalled for. Remember Reagan's remark about "speak no ill about fellow Republicans." The reality is that the democrats are the opposition, not fellow Republicans.
This is crux of Bob Waldrep and Cindy Wilson's whole problem with regard to information. They take public information (ie Raymond voted in the Democratic Presidential Primary - confirmed fact)- fair enough. Then they stick Raymond's picture between two candidates (Obama and Hillary - neither of which he voted for) and let it fly. Half a truth used to float a malicious lie. They do the same thing with county financial information. Take a piece of factual information, a credit card bill if you will, make up some crap about prostitutes and liquor and murder, then package together and put it all forth as the truth. That's the reason the county staff has had to be so thorough in reviewing and analyzing information Bob and Cindy request before it is given to them. Staff must evaluate every possible wild a-- tale Cindy and Bob could make up to discredit the county. And it's funny as he--, until they slander you. Then it's not so funny anymore. Bob needs to go.
Can I ask a silly question of the people so determined to label Mackay as a democrat?
If Raymond Mackay was such a die-hard democrat don't you think he would have just run on the democratic ticket instead of entering a 3 way race? It would have been the path of least resistance you know.
Be careful how simple you make it. Some on here can't handle it.

If the McAbees and the Gang of Five are endorsing Rubber-Stamp Mackay shouldn't that wake some of you up? You have all heard about the birds of a feather thing, right?
Prevail,
I don't believe I've seen anywhere where any current sitting member of council (as you so like to call, the gang of five) has publicly supported Raymond MacKay.
In comparison, the Anderson County Republican Party, who now likes to pick sides not only in national races (HI Mr. Adkins!) but also choose sides in contested county races.
If you guys sink much lower, you might end up in China.
- SSHM
And the path to a sure loss. Do you really think a Democrat can win in that district?
Funny, but I didn't see anyone saying this when it was Lindsey Graham being criticized. Are we being selectively offended?
I love Chinese food.
Let's get one thing straight. This is the Republican party. We can do what ever we want to within the law. If you want to change it, then join it.
It was actually Lindsey doing most of the criticizing.
MerryMacsc is very selective in her thoughts. She has broken the rule many, many times.
Probably not. But why pretend to be something that you are not. MacKay needs to be a man, and admit he is a democrat. There is nothing wrong with it.
The question has been asked, but no one has answered. Does anyone have proof that Raymond MacKay has supported a republican candidate, local, state or national party. When that question is answered, then maybe this will go away, until then I don't think so.
