The status quo that needed changing was Greer, Thompson and McAbee. Putting MacKay on council would not be change, but a continuation of Greer-Thompson-McAbee.

In a post, I was chastised for my assumption that Raymond MacKay was really a democrat running in a republican race, in this case District 1 against Bob Waldrep. Every excuse, such as his vote, as he has admitted now in the SC Presidential primary, was for John Edwards. Questions were raised about his claim of being a “life-long” Republican. I think the best way to settle the issue best is something Jesus once said. “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:23)

Mr. Mackay has supported political candidates in the past, and his contributions, as anyone else’s, are a matter of public record. Here is what you find:

Jim Hodges, Democrat for Governor, $1000. Cordell Maddox Jr, a democrat, $500 for a SC House race. Chuck Allen, also a democrat, $500 and $100 for a SC House, and Billy Odell, a democrat, $500 for a SC Senate race. There are no listings for any republican candidate.

The smoke and mirror games to portray Mr. MacKay as a true republican fall short. No local party participation that can be found, and now the censure of the party as to his republican credentials.

Pretending you are something you are not is deceitful, and that’s just what we don’t need on the Anderson County Council. While Bob Waldrep may have changed parties in 1994, remember, that was a time of cosmic change in Southern Politics.

Lack of reason . . .

I'm shocked you've become an individual unable to be truly objective to the materials at hand. If you are to be both logical and fair AND review ALL of the votes Mr. MacKay has cast over the years, you will see where, in 2008, it was indeed the only time Mr. MacKay crossed party lines to vote.

Let's be fair and compare this to Bob Waldrep. Bob Waldrep has changed parties several times during his political career. This means that Bob both RAN as a Democrat and WON as a Democrat (remember when he was Chairman of Anderson County Council in 1992 ... he was a DEMOCRAT).

MacKay . . . voted once for a Democrat . . . John Edwards.

Waldrep . . . WAS a Democrat (and most likely voted for one too - himself).

If we are going to quote Bible verses there, Reverend, allow me:

(Matthew 7:2-5)
"For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged [if we judge with an evil heart or dark intent, His judgment of us will reflect it; if we judge nobly and honestly, His judgment of us will reflect that, too], and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you [if we use extremes or exaggerations or other unfair means, our judgment will reflect it]. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye [point out his sins, "minor" in Jesus' example here] and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye [our own sins, even and especially those we will not admit, magnified by our selective blindness]? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' [tell him of his "minor" sins] when all the time there is a plank in your own eye [that there are greater or the same sins in our own lives which we do nothing about or think we are above]? You hypocrite* [pointing out the sins of others while by pretense we think of ourselves as above sin], first take the plank out of your own eye [sincerely ask the Lord for forgiveness and learn and live the Truth and Light by His Word], and then you will see clearly [be in a righteous position] to remove the speck from your brother's eye [to judge and to help him out of his bondage to sin]." At Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan, Jesus was talking to the multitudes gathered there after hearing of His message and of His healings to beseech them to not become like the pharisees and hypocrites who think they are above sin.

Cast not the first stone, lack of reason. Or, at the very least, look at all the fact. Speaking of facts . . .

Campaign Donations
Jim Hodges - Law School Classmate
Cordell Maddox - Democrat, now Republican, an upstanding Andersonian.
Chuck Allen - Democrat, now Republican, another upstanding Andersonian.
Billy O'Dell - Democrat, now Republican, another upstanding member of the community.

Now, to compare apples to apples, lets look at Bob Waldrep. I would wager that Bob, like any normal person running for office, contributed money to his own campaign. When running as a Democrat, this would mean that BOB GAVE TO A DEMOCRAT TOO.

So . . . to recap:

MacKay - Voted ONCE in a Democratic Primary (2008) and donated to 4 democrats, three of which became REPUBLICANS (2000).

Waldrep - Was a Republican, became a Democrat, and then changed back to being a Republican (1960s-1992). Bob donated to his own campaigns over those years, meaning he donated to both republicans AND democrats.

Well Reverend . . . I see a LOT of broken windows around here . . .

So if I
1) Donate to the Obama campaign today.
2) Click my heels together 3 times (with my ruby slippers)
3) Wish for him to become a Republican sometime in the future.

then it's ok to give the money to a Democrat (today)???
After all, I'm a life long republican too!!

You guys that want to ignore party labels are killing me. The only reason that party doesn't matter to you is that is does matter to everyone else. You keep putting lipstick on that pig. It'll get 35 or 40 percent next Tuesday.

The Republican State Convention named Bob Waldrep a delegate to the NATIONAL convention. Nuff said about his credentials. They aren't the ones in question.

Do you have proof that MacKay only crossed over in 2008, or do we just have to take your "word" for it?

If you have proof, then please post and share. If not, then I guess we will just have to believe what we have as evidence.

Because the evidence is quite clear, he voted for a democrat in January (he says Edwards, it could have been Clinton or Obama), and since 2000, he has given $2,600.00 to democrats. (They were democrats at the time, and I have never heard Cordell say he switched parties, he lost his seat to Michael Thompson when he was a dem).

So, show us the proof.

Like I've said before MT, I tend to look beyond the label and look at the content of the man or woman that is running for office. I feel really sorry for you in that you can't get past a party tag.

The "I didn't know I needed to be there" defense fits really well with "The dog ate my ordinance" defense too.

Send the guy home.

No, some of us are just aware of whats really going on, intelligent enough to see the truth, smart enough not fall for the political propaganda and to know enough that if you fall in along party lines, the status quo remains the status quo and we all get F$%KED in the end, becasue its the party and donating special interest that gets put first ahead of the people. If you believe any different you are just living in denial and lying to yourself.

Poor little lemmings. Oh Merciful Lord, please lead these lemmings down the path away from partisan politics and to political enlightenment so that all of our individual freedoms may be preserved for generations to come. .........A-men.

I want to thank you for pointing out the some of the information in my Zebrahost account was 4 years out of date. That account was established, and paid for by me, when I was the pastor of the church in Sarasota. It was paid for on my personal credit card, and never by the church. I had established that account in 2000 as to be able to make a site for the church.

When my wife died in September of 2004, I decided to leave the church. When I did, the church got their own account with hosting to maintain their website, and I kept the one that I had established. I changed the ownership information, but realize now some of the contact information deeper into the account had not been updated.

The account has been paid for by me and billed to my personal credit card for the past 4 years since leaving the church. While my hosting account is up-to-date, some of the information on the domain registration account was not. Some of the accounts were correct; others defaulted to the old information when the new names were registered and established.

I had Zebrahost up-date the default information on all domains to the information I had given them as owner when I left the church.

The account owner has always been in my name, though when at the church, I had used them as the organization, as we only had three church related sites.

It does mention a timely manner, however.I will certainly concede that the remainder of the council seated at the time Preston proposed the ordinance that lets him set his own timetable, which by theway essentially circumvents the statelaws known as the SCFOIA,did in fact abrogate their duty when they passed such an ordinance. The Supremes, including Ms. Toal, who appeared to be sober that day, asked why the Council itself wasn't named in the suit.
But aside from your desperate clinging to the technical issue, what of the simple fact that Preston could resolve much of this situation by simply lowering his own arrogance and doing the job like someone who understands his role in the combination of bureaucratic and elected government that is the hybrid bastard known as Home Rule??
And no matter what the SC Supremes said, the one thing that keeps coming back to me is sworn testimony by finance director Rita Davis given in a deposition in the early stages of this process. In that testimony she said that she could easily print two copies of the records but she first had to give Mr. Preston the information so "he could look at it and figure out what Ms. Wilson was going to throw at us next."
If you truly believe that such an attitude towards ANY elected official trying to do their duty is a proper one for an employee to have, there is no convincing you otherwise. I just hope there's no bone in that KoolAid you're chugging.
