I'm with you venter. I check one of the categories, and it was obvious that not all the new posts were being flagged in blue text or the number of new replies were showing up .... On a related note, I also feel the pain of getmeout ... a button to show all new replies for each thread would be cool, although I'm not sure how that would work technically or logically.... You'd obviously lose the "logic" if they were separated from their point in the conversation.
Bug reports
Thanks blogger that was an easy fix
I host and admin a site that uses phpBB, it allows users to subscribe to threads as well as view all new posts since their last visit. Good features to have, keeps you from having to sift through everything you've already seen.
testing how to embed a video....
http://www.metacafe.com/watch/187304/village_people_in_the_navy/
As for the example a-venter gave above, it seems to be working for me on FF2 on a Mac, we will test in IE on windows to see if there are any issuse with this page not reflecting new posts:
http://www.thecocklebur.net/forum/
Keep in mind, that if you visit a topic, and return to that page, you may need to hit 'refresh' for it to reflect 'less' new posts.
We'll work with you to make sure any issues get solved - and it's clear what's 'new' vs. 'read'.
Use the text editor and click on embed video! (It's got the Youtube logo on it)
I tried that and it did not work. Will retry!
you just can't toss in the link, you need to look and see if there is a string of code on the video page that starts with
, then copy that code into embed video link. Or learn how to code in the embed script yourself. Anyway it goes something like this: (not that I'm a village people fan, but hey whatever....)
"">embed src="http://www.metacafe.com/fplayer/187304/village_people_in_the_navy.swf" wmode="transparent" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" height="345" width="400"> <br><font size="1">"">a href="http://www.metacafe.com/watch/187304/village_people_in_the_navy/">Village People - In The Navy -
Funny video clips are a click away

Hey everyone: With the help of the Lefora folks, we're testing out a new and improved highlighting of new posts. You'll notice that there's a light color shaded bar that now appears on new posts ... Let me know if this makes it easier to find new posts.... Thanks
Thanks.
Now My coffee warmer next to the desktop is not heating right... any suggestions?

Larry
Can't get the NEW highlight to go out in the ELECTIONS section.
All the post are black (non highlighted in blue) yet it still showing NEW on the main page.
The first time I reported this I was using IE 7... now I am on foxfire, this is the first time foxfire has done this.
Larry

I don't believe this would be considered a "bug", but can something be done about the short interval of time to edit a post. That sure "bugs" the heck out of me and a few other so they say.
Nick
I just noticed that the Topic "McCain When will you bring them home” is duplicated in Elections and in General Discussion,
Seems at quick glance that each entry made in that topic is also duplicating.
There may be more, just the one I noticed.
Nick: Speed, speed, speed, this site is slow, slow, slow. What's the problem?
You've taken a good thing (the blog) and made it laborious. All the fun is out of it. Fix it or like NASCAR, expect the fans to find other things to do with their time. Sorry, but that is how I see it and how I'm hearing it.
Republikin
Republikin: I'm looking into this .... but I have to say, I would feel much more comfortable if you would speak to me directly so i can ask a few more specific questions about what you are experiencing and the systems that you are using. Can you please send me a private message so that we can talk? ...

Nick
Speak of learning the system, I was unaware that topics could be placed in more than one category.
My first thought was if the topics were self duplicating causing the system to be sluggish,
Sorry
