The Cocklebur and Lefora team are interested in making sure everyone has an excellent experience at this site. Please post any bugs or feature requests below.

Also, for those who have been longtime posters, please post links that appears to demonstrate a problem with the way that the database from the old new Cocklebur phpbb platform was ported over to Lefora.

One small bug not a very big deal, but why do I have to log in twice?

It's not really a bug, but I do have a question. At this moment (Sunday, June 15, 2008, 5:45 p.m.), the topic "Cindy Wilson for County Council Chair" shows 29 posts but only 20 views.

I've long suspected that some of our members are either blind, or they're posting with their eyes closed. Is this proof of those suspicions, or am I misreading the "replies" vs. "views" stats? Innocent

I believe the reason for the difference is...

This topic started prior to the change over, and the view count started with the NEW version.

Hope I am right, if not I just AGAIN stuck my foot in my mouth.

Noeline it looks like it wants you to use your e-mail to log in but if you do that you just need to re-log in. Try putting your user name in that sign in box instead of your e-mail and you should just have to log in once.

Nick
On the LOCAL ISSUES

After entering the site local issues the topics with new post are not highlighted in blue.

to see if there have been any additional post you have to either remember the last time you visited a particular topic or click it and read.

All other topics highlight in blue and I am able to know what is a new post.

I have the same problem a-venter.  The little red new symbo will not go off after you have checked the topics for the new posts.

Not a bug, but a suggestion... it would be nice to be able to mark posts as read and only display the posts that are unread when you log in. Some topics are hard to follow as the posts are not in order from newest to oldest, or even oldest to newest. If a user replies to a post in the middle of the thread you may not see it. I find myself using the "recent posts" on the right side of the page and scrolling the "older" until I find the last post I remember reading and read from the bottom up.

I've found myself doing that, too. From my understanding, the word "new" shows up on any new posts anywhere in the thread if you haven't read that page. I'll pass on your thoughts

Hi, I'm here to help with any issue on the forum software, and just want to confirm some issues you're having.

When you view this page: http://www.thecocklebur.net/forum/category/all/page1/

It seems that the highlighted new topics isn't always displayed correctly. Is anybody else having this issue?

Here's an example of how new replies should highlight a topic:

I assume you're talking about this page:
http://www.thecocklebur.net/forum/

When the red 'new' doesn't disappear, have you just clicked through the category, to the topic listing, or have you clicked all the way through to the individual topics and their posts?

Posts can be 'threaded' where a person can respond inline to a topic (not just at the end). This can be confusing compared to a flat listing of posts like your previous forum.

To clear up that confusion, we highlight the time and insert a 'new' icon onto replies that are new since your last visit, this is a screenshot:

Also, you might need to click 'Refresh' on the page for it to update the 'new' icons. If you just click back/forward, your browser may not show the latest update.

Yes, I noticed that; however, some of these threads are REALLY long, like the one about Adams v Drawdy. It goes on and on and on! You have to scroll through all the posts to pick out the new ones. That's why it would be nice to be able to only view posts you haven't read.

Correct.  When the new red symbol is showing, I click on that category, General Discussion, Elections, etc.  But when I get to the topics page there will not be a highlighted topic, blue highlight, so you don't know what is new.  It doesn't happen all the time with me, just on Local Issues and the General Discussion categories.  They never go off.  Hope that makes sense.

Can't view threads with large number of topics. >100 won't open.. times out.
Using ie 7 and ff 2 on high bandwidth connection, 5 GB ram, 2.6 mhz dual core. Win 2K3 OS...
Cleared history and cache and still won't load.

After I read the thread I go to the top and click on the green tab that has Forums, a new sign is there so I click the category, it takes me to the topics page and then I click on the highlighted topic that you have an example of below.  It takes me to the last post, read it click forums tab to go back but the new sign is still there even though there is no more highlighted topics.

Thanks for the help, let me explain what happens.
From http://www.thecocklebur.net/forum/ "Elections"
showsNEW highlighted in blue beside the number 67 to the right. I click Elections there is no topics highlighted, all are black. There is no way to tell what has been read or what is new with exception to the timestamp. I don't always remember when I last read a topic. This only happens in ELECTIONS for me. I also noticed when the software first came online the FAQ page lit up in blue with a new entry, now it does not. I am using IE 6 or 7
tried refresh restart etc. no change.
Thanks
