I feel that Michael Thompson did an excellent thing in withdrawing from the runoff. I was impressed with his handling of a very stressful situation and wish him well in the future.

It actually is a wise thing to do, it save the taxpayers money and it settles things much smoother

I think his withdrawal was self serving! He wanted to save what little dignity he had left. Look at his vote count against the lead vote getter in a 4 way race. If he ran head to head with Dunn it may well have been a 80 - 20 result. And this guy was the sitting chairman of council, and was touted as the man that brought order back to council? Give me a break! But he will be remembered. He will be remembered as one of the gang that spent another council district's money and the only council person in the history of Anderson County to use the words/term  "BF" in an open council session!

I have a question I am hoping one of our knowledgable posters can answer. I had never really thought about who foots the bills for the various primaries and elections. I think I've always just assumed some branch of the govt was paying and we the taxpayers were footing the bill. Which I guess ultimatly we are regardless of who's writing the check. But than I heard discussions on the news during the Florida and Michigan primary problem about the expense to the states democratic party if they had to re-do the election. And I also heard similar things here about the expenses when we went to the voting computers and who was going to cover the costs. So does anyone know? Who is responsible for election and primary expenses? And who sets the primary schedules?
