Now that at least three of our sitting Council members that are being bid farewell in January, what will they do in the next 6 months?
My hope is that without the burden of another term and hopefully all political promises they made to get elected have been fullfilled, that we will see them do their very best to work in the directions expressed by the voters. Let us see if they will be statesmen in their last 6 months and move the county in a manner demanded by the majority of voters..
I predict that you will see no fireworks or wild actions. They will be gentlemen in their actions.
I predict the opposite. They(especially McAbee & Thompson) will try to give Mr Preston a longer contract with a raise. They will also try to do anything they can to strengthen Mr Preston's position and weaken the councils position. Thompson/McAbee have proven in the past that they will do most anything and can be very creative in the things that they do. Since they now have nothing to lose they will be very very creative. I look for alot of fireworks.Also, we need to watch for the "special interest" groups. They may have things that they will try to get done before the new members take office. Larry Greer is the "wild card" and may play spoiler because he may have thoughts of running again.
