He also voted for the highest tax increase allowed by state law. He also raised the solid waste tax by 50% and voted to tie it to inflation. This allows Bill's tax increase to run in perpetuity.
Our children and grandchildren thank you, Bill McAbee, for raising our taxes.
Bill voted to hire 25 more people for the county payroll, too, right?
Paid by increased taxes on taxpayers, right?

Tom Allen voted for tax increases 17 times while on the County Board of Education each year for 4 years. This vote for 17 tax increases by Tom Allen cost Anderson County Tax payers more than 2x's the entire county budget every year for 4 years.
We need Bill McAbee to return to keep our taxes low. Bill McAbee cares about jobs for everyone. Bill McAbee cares about Public Safety as is evidenced by the 800 Mhz radio system. Bill McAbee cares about fighting taxes that his opponent supported such as the $1000 per house impact fee. Bill McAbee also fought the $25 per car fee. Both times he was able to stop the impact fee and the car fee. Vote Bill McAbee Council District 4.

Thats 25 more contributing members of society . . .
Thats 25 more people PAYING TAXES . . .
Your problem with 25 people being contributing, tax-paying members of society is what, hmmm?

that they arent HIS family or friends holding those position..
back in the day, the "out" crowd was the "in" crowd..
and they packed local government with their cronies..and ran economic development out of their houses, garages, basements and back rooms...
they lost all that swag, and have been hating life ever since..

Did my question make you uncomfortable?
The problem is 25 more people being paid by a decreasing number of people (t-a-x-p-a-y-e-r-s) with the ability to pay.
You must be in line for one of the slots at the trough, right?

Ahh YES! It makes sense now . . .
I've heard stories about the old "econ dev" and how businesses landed here in the back rooms of grocery and liquor stores.
How quaint.
Welcome to the 21st Century folks. Deals are made in conference rooms, not cold storage rooms. It's high time Anderson grew up and took her place at the table of growth and development in the Upstate.

Not at all . . .
This is where we have the disconnect. People, like BillyBoy here ASSume that all government positions are DIRECTLY funded out of your pocket. This is not always the case.
There are things such as grants (Federal, State, Private) that fund job openings. It's not ALL from my back pocket.
While we are talking about "ye olden days" (e.g., just after the advent of Home Rule and ACCC), let's also be quick to remember that Anderson County has always been CHEAP. CHEAP to the point of not having what is needed, let alone anything nice (back to the quality of life, and I mean quality of life for ALL, not just the powerbrokers).
Think about it . . .
Doubt me? Look into how SLED started the nation's first Cyber Crime Center. It was $5.6 million in FEDERAL funding secured by then Sen. Fritz Hollings.
Do your homework. THINK FOR YOURSELF.

So that Federal and State money is free money, right? No matching money needed? And it lasts forever, too, right?
And just what does the State and Fed manufacture to get that money they dole out? Not a damn thing. They pick it from my pocket and yours, right?
Like the County, right?
Uh, SSHM, you ARE aware that those "Federal and state" funds are derived from TAXES, which do, indeed, come from your pocket and my pocket?
One of the more annoying things I hear is when people say, "We can fund this through a Federal (or state) grant and not have to use any tax money." DUH!

JD, The fact is county council doesn't have control over the tax dollars that are being spent on the state and federal levels. Those dollars if Anderson County doesn't get them someone else will. This allows our council to keep our local taxes low. If you want to change the state and federal level officials you need to go after Kevin Bryant and Lindsey Graham. You are mixing races here.

I am very aware of where Federal Tax Revenue comes from . . . 50 States. This means that there is a good chance that someone in LA or NYC just paid, in the previous example, for that Cyber Crimes Center in Columbia.
I am very aware of where State Tax Revenue comes from . . . 46 Counties. This means that there is a good chance that someone from Charleston, Columbia, Myrtle Beach or even Greenville paid for road improvements, if we are going to talk about state-owned roads.
The point is . . . the tax burden is distributed. Did I DIRECTLY fund that Cyber Crime Center in Columbia - No. Did I indirectly fund it - more than likely, yes.
THINK!
