This is just a "What if ?"
In light of the Supreme Court decision and the new law suit against her, there could be speculation as to whether Cindy will take a clue from the song -
"Ya gotta know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, know when to run."
"Hold 'em" might mean that she will win the election and stay on council for two more years.
"Fold 'em" might mean that she will lose the election and be religated to the back pages of Anderson's history.
"Know when to walk away" may mean that she will withdraw before the primary, allowing the challenger an easy ride into office . What if she walks away ?
And "know when to run" may mean that she will resign after winning the election, vacating her seat. What if she runs ?
If she withdraws before the primary, her supporters will be crying foul. But at least, her challenger will have been elected by the people.
But if she resigns after winning the election, what will happen ? Will the administrator appoint someone to fill the seat ? Will it be a permanent appointment of someone to serve out the two year term ? Or will it be an interim appointment, until a special election can be held ? In either case, the appointed person will not have been elected by anyone. And again, her supporters will be crying foul !
Which will it be ? I hope Cindy will consider these options in light of the Supreme Court decision and the law suit which has been filed against her, and make the best choice for Anderson County

Just to let you know Buster, the administrator does not have the authority to appoint anyone to office. If Cindy or anyone else on council resigns, goes away, drops dead, or is otherwise removed from office for any reason, the governor would be the one to do any appointing. More than likely in the event of a seat on council being vacated for any reason, there would be
a special election to fill that seat.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. Years ago in another state I was appointed by the chair to fulfill the term of a gentleman who died in office.
