"One of the things that's a good thing about the Republican Party is that it's a big tent and there's room for disagreement on policy."
- Steve Schmidt, Campaign Strategist and Advisor to the 2008 Presidential campaign of Senator John McCain.
The Big Tent
June 10th in Anderson County politics promises to be a day of change. As such, I would like to take a moment to extend an invitation to all Democrats, Libertarians, Constitutionalists, and non card carrying Republicans to vote in next Tuesday’s Republican Primary.
OUR PRIMARY IS OPEN TO EVERYONE!!
For many in Anderson, there is not a Democrat, a Libertarian, or a Constitutionalist running in your district. In fact, in a number of races, June 10th will be the equivalent of the general election.
Make your voice heard! Do you civic duty and vote! Take the time in the next few days to double-check your voter registration cards. Be aware of where your particular polling place is.
A twelve-hour window that will ultimately set the course of Anderson County for the next two to four years

Amen, my friends. I will be unable to be in town that day but already have voted absentee.
I want to remind everyone to vote in the Republican primary June 10th. By voting in the Republican primary you actually declare yourself to be a Republican. And a Republican by any other name is still a Republican. When you walk into the polling place on primary day, you tell the poll workers in which party's primary you wish to vote. If you tell them you wish to vote in the Republican primary, then you have declared yourself to be a Republican. So I encourage all Republicans, RINOs, country club Republicans, Conservative Republicans, Liberal Republicans, Moderate Republicans, evan Log Cabin Republicans, to vote in the Republican primary on June 10th. Then I would encourage all of them to rally behind the Republican primary winners and support, encourage, and vote for them in November. It is what I plan to do.
I sure hope that everyone is honest when they vote. McAbee, Greer, Thompson and Ron Wilson will hopefully follow Graceless Floyd's line to the demoncrat side and show their real colors.

Aw Bubba, you just need to scoot over a little to your left-- you're just too far-right to see'um well.
oh yeah, Merrymacsc and SSHm are trying to put their own little "operation Chaos" together.
Won't work. Merrymacsc, are you and the democratic party working together on this? I heard the democrats were working hard to get cross-over votes. Is Bill that desperate?

Yes....Billy Boy is that desperate. Demoncrats have infiltrated our ranks and we are seeing the results.

SNIFF THEM AND YOU CAN SEE THE DIFFERENCE. KICK THE STINKING DEMONCRATS OUT.

I encourage everyone who is informed to vote in the Republican primary and vote for the conservative candidates.
And just who is it that decides who is and who isn't a Republican? What is the litmus test for conservative? Are Willieh and Bubba to become the Grand Inquisitors of some political inquisition in a certain group's determination to rid itself of pesky political opponents? When I walk into the polling place and declare myself to be a Republican by saying I want to vote in the Republican Party Primary, will someone from the far, far right be there with some kind of ultra conservative detector? Just who will be the arbiter of conservative Republicanism? Who will examine my ballot to see that voted conservative and thereby voted for the true Republican? Just what makes one a true Republican? I can recite the Republican Creed. I am not a common (wo)man. It is my right to be uncommon. I can stand up and boldly say I AM A FREE AMERICAN. So live with it Willieh (interesting name choice there) and Bubba. You aren't going to get me out of the Republican Party. Better than you have tried and failed. So yes Lee, I will vote Republican and probably vote for the more conservative of the choices. But just remember we are the REPUBLICAN PARTY not the CONSERVATIVE PARTY.

My bad. If you can quote it, you must be it.
My bad. If you can quote it, you must be it.- willieh
What it boils down to is this:
Outside of bee stings, you are petrified of the cross-over voters AND the moderates in the party. When they arrive and cast their votes, the ultra-nut-job right-wingers are sunk - and you know it.
You don't have the votes now. You don't have the traction needed. You don't have the financial backing. You don't have the time to execute.
You have failed.
Now put on your big girl pants and get over it.

I'll agree with the fact that you're "bad" Willieh.

That's a little bit of "smack talk" a week out from the election. I don't guess you've not taken many Dale Carnagie courses.
That's fine. Talk all you want. I am done talking trash. It's action time. See you next Wednesday.
I'll agree with the fact that you're "bad" Willieh.- merrymacsc

You ain't no Rush Limbaugh.

With respect I must point out during my lifetime the Republican Party has always been know as the conservative party.
Are you now saying that is not so? Is that why we have an almost nominated presidential candidate that could pass for a moderate/liberal Democrat?
I think a liberal John McCain will do harm to the Republican Party. The party will go on. But it will be damaged by his candidacy!
You are right nomad. The Republican Party has become the Party of Conservatives. But is it to be exclusively conservative and who is to say who is conservative and who isn't? I consider myself both a fiscal and a social conservative. Evidently Bubba and Willieh do not think I am even close to being a conservative. Which one is correct?
Merrymac only you know where you belong. But I would leave based on my decision, not someone else’s.
I would say that the Republican Party has not “become the Party of Conservatives”, but has been so for a very long time. Having said that, I can tell you some of the things I believe in are not “traditional” conservative views. But it has not caused me to leave the party I joined when most folks my age touted the Kennedy-Camelot dream.
That is until now… Having as my party’s nominee a man who courted the Democratic Caucus in the Senate, was considered as a Vice-Presidential candidate on the Democratic ticket, was so wrong on immigration and federal judge confirmations will never get my vote! It seems my party has left me.

So, you're voting for Mr. Obama? That'll show 'em!
