So are you saying the council took no action, as they had and still have the power?

There's a simple reason why MDW didn't pursue economic development in District 7. She is too busy pursuing "wrongdoing" by the administration. If she were to focus on something other than her obsession with Mr. Preston, she could be an effective council member. I don't see that happening. Meeting after meeting she beats the same old drum. And the pile Driver chorus stands behind her cheering her on.

I hope all the honest taxpayers and voters are getting some laughs out of all this. The Prestonites are doing everything they can possibly do to shift the past 12 years of Preston's failure to an easy target...for them, Cindy Wilson. I admit that Preston and Gang have come out with some pretty good things to hide their failures behind but to keep using Cindy over and over and over and over as the reason Joey Ray Preston is the sorriest administrator in the nation is getting really old. The weak minded yelllow bellied cowards do not have the backbone to stand up to Joey Ray and now they are in panic mode. Please...no one should ever refer to the Gang of Five as 'Gentlemen or Lady' and don't refer to the JRP posters on this thread by anything other than what they are.....women abusers that should be registered with the Sheriff's Dept. So now, have more of your sick fun by blaming Cindy for the dirt-like pavement that Joey Ray let his buddy pour on Michelin Blvd. that lasted a few days and now we are going to have to pay another respectable contractor to redo the entire job. The Prestonites don't have a leader, they have a coward that hides behind them and numerous attornies and covers for him, a disgrace.

There must be a reason MCW is an easy target
++Could it be she opposes or abstains from almost every motion, reading or vote?
++Could it be that by detracting from BUSINESS of running a county MCW is more absorbed in pursuing vendettas and attempts to disparage counterparts?
++could it be that by rationalizing vetoes of important issues facing those like P-800 and EMS, and those who could rally & side with her, she has instead distanced herself from the electorate and population in general?
++ Could it be that by profitting from land deals while on a Council Board, and sliding preferences to her family, that voters look at that as dishonesty in office over her Catergate allegations against JRP?
++ or is it simply she is a female against a mostly male board ( for those wishing to redux a conspiracy theory).

I'm not a MCW 'hater', as she sometimes DOES bring valid issues to the table ( like budget numbers and funding) but her constant riding of closed issues and costly investigations which lead nowhere, I cannot help but to feel her treatment is warranted most times.

I guess I have to break this down into simple terms.

Facts
M. Cindy Wilson is the elected represenative for County Council District 7. She has occupied said seat since it was created.

Chiquola Mills resides within the confines of County Council District 7.

Chiquola Mills closed/ceased operations January 31, 2003.

Logical Speculation
M. Cindy Wilson was/is aware of the declining state of mills and the loss of the mill communities, both in her district and across the county.

County Economic Development, as one of their missions (retain business) had to have been cognizant of the decline and subsequent closing of Chiquola Mills.

Questions
Why, between the mission of County Economic Development (retaining business) and the desire to serve her contituents did M. Cindy Wilson and the County Economic Development Department fail to save Chiquola Mills, along with other industries in M. Cindy Wilson's district?

Does the need to hunt for credit cards receipts trump or take precedent over the need of her constituents to have a job that provides for their families?

Why is the industrial might of Honea-Path, SC dormant?

Why hasn't there been a leader or leaders to rise to the occasion and aid those in Honea-Path - establishing new jobs and a renewed commitment to the industrial might and infrastructure of Honea-Path?

Why wouldn't you want to provide the opportunity for a better life for your constituents, Cindy?

Drive by those closed plants and mills and ask the hard questions. I would wager that you could count on one hand (with most of the digits missing) the number of times M. Cindy Wilson has either walked into the County Economic Development Office or worked with the County Economic Development Office in an effort to secure jobs and industry for her folks.

I live in Anderson Co (though not in CW's district), and travel the US and world on business. I've been directly involved in site selections for numerous plants and other commercial investment site selections. Numbers 1, 2, and 3 on the list of requirements for investment (and job creation) in a local community is a fully supportive, cohesive, growth-focused local political structure.

Anderson Co, and specifically CW's district, are the laughingstocks of the corporate site selection community. Any career-minded young people who grow up there leave as fast as they can, and few others choose to move there to build their careers and raise their families (that's read "tax base" and, relatedly, "quality of life", for those of you who don't understand the correlations). CW's antics have directly resulted in Anderson Co's well-deserved reputations as "anti-business" and "anti-growth".

I agree with most posters. Let's cut out the cancer and see if the patient recovers and thrives.
