First, Mrs. Tippett worked for Winn-Dixie at the time they ended operations in South and North Carolina a couple of years ago. That decision was made in their corporate offices in Jacksonville, Florida, and had ZERO to do with any votes or non-votes by any local elected officials.

Yet, an empty Winn-Dixie store is used to illustrate the lack of economic development in Anderson County.

Somebody hasn't been paying attention, have they?

On the other side of the card, the Kohl's project is brought up. Correct me if I'm wrong, here, but didn't County Council reject putting money into that? Not just Cindy Wilson, but a MAJORITY OF COUNCIL, rightly rejected using taxpayer funds to give a competitive advantage to a RETAIL establishment in the City of Anderson.

I take no position on the Cindy Wilson Council race, since it doesn't affect me, but this card is one pathetic attempt to smear an elected official. Really. Whoever paid for it ought to demand a refund, because it was obviously put together by an IDIOT who doesn't even know what local government can and cannot do and shouldn't even be voting, let alone campaigning.

JD: I believe Ms. Wilson got around $200,000 for acting as a broker for the land owner. She reported in AIM that the land owner was/is a friend who wanted someone they could trust to handle the deal and ensure the land was used environmentally responsible - or some such tripe. What was odd is that MCW came in at the end of the deal. All the ground work (no pun) was done by county economic development. The very department she derides. She did NOT bring Walgreen's Dist. Ctr. here. But, she profited nicely. Nice work if you can get it. That is not to say she violated any laws or ethics. Oddly, if that were anyone else she would likely have sued - gone to the Supreme Court, to find out "How" they got in on the deal?????? The lady is a ...... well you know ... a treat. I hope she gets defeated so we can end this soap opera in AC.

And just to address this recycled load of crap, Cindy Wilson's actions in regard to the Walgreen's project have been reviewed by every appropriate agency in the state. She has been found to have done nothing wrong in her actions on that deal. You know this Republikin, and so do you buffy. The same lies were told during the 2006 election cycle. this is classic Preston strategy - repeat the lies often enough and hope that people believe them. Can >anyone on any side of the Preston/Wilson issue honestly think that if she could have been hanged on that deal that she wouldn't have been? Come on, people. Shih head, the review of Wilson's conduct by the ethics commission has been mentioned more than once in council meetings, as various members of the council have tried to tar her with the Mcabrush. You lookup the minutes. that's not my job. Also, to return to the pertinent question, which you sidestepped, and to even grant you your argument that such a review never happened, why didn't it? Do you expect us to believe that if Wilson had been vulnerable on the issue of her conduct in that transaction, Joey Preston and his posse wouldn't have run her out of town? Yes, he voted for a couple of tax increases - very minor. He's a realist. Sometimes, just sometimes, a tax increase is needed. Example: The solid waste fee stayed the same for about a decade. What is it now, $60.00 a year ? Wow! I think it is a good value. I can't vote for Bill Mac because I don't live in his district - you know, the Juan Brown letter I might be moving though. JD, you and I happen to disagree on the nature of McPlummer's dealings on beghalf of themselves, and secondarily the county. If you have the complete story on those transactions, instead of your interpretation of the partial facts being circulated, I would hope you would provide them to the elected officials in THIS county. FYI, there have been artilces which addressed wilson's part in the Walgreen's deal. As you posted, JD, you know Joey and how he plays the game. If he had anything to use on Cindy Wilson for her part in that deal, besides the incessant yammering of Amy Plummer, it would have been three inch screaming headlines on AIM's front page until even Buster got tired of reading it. But he didn't have anyhting except the lies and innuendo which Amy ( sorry, it's so much shorter than Constituent or Republikin)so gleefully spreads. Wilson's transaction didn't begin with her openly misrepresenting herself to various officialsand involved parties like AMy Plummer did when she tried to get state officials to attend the opening rounds of this "economic development" operation at a meeting in Belton. Nor did Wilson use any county funds for her travel, lodging, dining or entertaining expenses.
McAbee's explanation on the Driver show of why Steven Hawking, of the Western greenville and Tweetsy Railroad went to New Yorkon a ticket bought with a county credit card was laughable. You could see the caught in the headlights look over the radio.

The reason I started blogging was to get to the crux of the matters discussed on these forums. I wanted to share anything I knew and learn from those who had knowledge where I didn't. I truly wanted discourse from anyone that could shed light on what Cindy Wilson had done. The more time has passed and others have written on this blog, the more certain I am becoming that she truly hasn't done one positive thing??? No one has anything to say in response to my honest, and maybe somewhat naive inquiry. If her supporters want to bring people to her thinking, it will require more than pointing fingers and slinging blame and accusations! Think about it and start reasoning with those of us who are here to understand the issues openly and honestly. I am not convinced by diversions or discussing of other people living habits, etc. Just the facts would be nice.

The problem? She's had 8 years to something about it, and didn't Now, she seems incapable of creating a coalition to get anything done.

If you can't see what you do politically by electing MacKay and Hooper, there is no hope for you. All you and others of your ilk like to do is fight fights that result, at best, in pyrrhic victories.

Think outside the box and see what it will do. I've hinted at it several times, but I suppose it's impossible to teach someone about Epaulette Mate if all you know how to do is to play checkers . . . poorly.

I suspect the brighter posters here will figure out what I'm saying (PN, GeorgeP - let's see if you catch what I'm getting at).
