My predictions:

Council #1--McKay

Council #3--Greer

Council #4--McAbee

Council #5--Thompson

Council #6--Wilson.

Council #7--Cindy

- The Queen

- dunebuggy

Sorry. Screwed up the last post in my eagerness to see if Queen would like to bet some money on her predictions. The light bill is due and since she seems to be in the deep darkness, I thought maybe she'd like to help me out?

- dunebuggy

You're on!

I think

District 1 - I'm hoping that MacKay wins. I have no idea how many people think Waldrep is still a moderate--thats how he got in over Francis Crowder last time. Turns out Crowder is a lot smarter and probably would have been a better councilman.

District 2 - Ms. Gracie will win in Nov obviously.

District 3 - Larry Greer

District 4 - Bill McAbee

District 5 - I'd have to agree with Ernest that Thompson will win, again. It's a miracle that Thompson got in last time, this will be just as close.

District 6 - Ronnie Gene

District 7 - Cindy will win again.. she's untouchable folks.

Sheriff - I think Skipper may just do it, but don't underestimate Crenshaw

Solicitor - Sarah Drawdy has this one in the bag. The only way Chrissy could win now is if a meteor takes out Anderson County but Oconee County is untouched.

SC House 8 - I think Tom Dobbins will win this. He's been on the school board and has name ID. Dobbins could really take out Bowen in the fall, too.

SC Senate 4 - I honestly think Odachowski will win... seems like he's been working harder for it. Of course they don't have a chance against O'Dell in the fall.

Think again, xenacat. Many of the bloggers here know her identity. Besides, Gracie doesn't think well enough on the run to get into a blog.Of course, she might have Gina Humphreys or Linda Edelmann do it for her.

Do you believe Mike Thompson is doing so poorly that he would be replaced?
I liked his take-control demeanor as Council Chair, reducing the meetings from 3-4 hours to under two. By taking a lead and stopping the nonsense happening in open council chambers, he showed his ability to direct without favor.
The best thing for Anderson County would be the replacement of the Wilsons, both male & female. There is nothing but derisiveness and combativeness during meetings with those two, and it is counter-productive.
Gracie deserves to remain, she is dedicated to the less fortunate and wants only better things for her district ( and THATS her job to do so)
And I have no qualms about my support for Sarah Drawdy! I buck the trend of experience beats youth and exuberance. I mean how hard would Sarah have to work to beat ONE case....doing two and she bested her rival by a hundred percent.
Crenshaw vs. Skipper: without knowing all the back-story with John Skipper, I don't think he would defeat David, and if he did it wouldn't be by much. John has some interesting ideas, but putting them into play will be harder than getting a peace accord from Hamas.

Good god, Wyatt! Thompson didn't cut the meetings from four hours to two. He exchanged two two hour meetings for a four meeting, and in the process, removed the controversial issues, liek the budget presentation, from public view. Wake up, man. Elections are coming.

I too would be willing to wager an Outback Steak or Carson's dinner on the Council, Sheriff, and Solicitor (toatal number correct) with another poster (along with spouse or significant other). But I can only do it with one couple, so first come gets the wager. Answer here or email me!

Not that I need it, but it is another excuse to go to a steak house and take a break from this "nuts and twigs" diet.

Okay Queen, I've had a little rheumatiz medicine to loosen up the fingers, so here goes.
District 1 - Waldrep - fairly easily - Mackay is a transparent Joey puppet, no matter how much he protests that he is his own man. His personals don't come across well either. Mackay fans also underestimate the support Bob has in seeking this financial information. Not everyone in District One drinks white wine, folks.
District 2 - Rev. Wright pulls Gracie through big
District 3 - Eddie Moore in a squeaker - Larry's pious posturing too often ends in hypocrisy, often during the same meeting.
District Four - I don't think Joey wants another hungry dog turned loose to bite him (Busha, Thompson, Scott, no wonder we need a bigger animal shelter) so he'll scrap like hell to save Bill. (Michael is a different story.) Billy McAbee in a close one.
District 5 - Tommy Dunn - Michael Thompson's avuncular charm doesn't translate well outside of Sullivan's. (Hey Stupid, did you use that word first? If not, feel free to beat it to death for the next few days.)
District 6 - the most interesting race of all because it clearly pits the Greenville work force against the more traditional Anderson voter base. How much ground had Ron regained since the zoning fiasco? And is the C&D; landfill a bigger issue than a fifty million dollar budget increase in two years? Those are the issues.
Freemantle has outworked Ron but Dan Cooper and Freddie Zink are still big guns in that end of the county. If anyone was wondering how comfortable Dan and Joey are, Joey's presence at the stump meeting cleared it up for most folks. I thought an SCV meeting was going to break out for a minute there.
Nevertheless, Marse Ron wins it fairly easily, even without Powdersville's black vote..
District 7 - Cindy Wilson in a bloodbath. The more folks learn about Hooper, the lower his numbers fall. A story may break between now and June 10th that will throw the Hooper candidacy into meltdown, and I mean Three Mile Island meltdown. Stay tuned!
If Ron would do some testing more than a mile from Highway 81, they'd already know that three grand got pissed away. The best thing Hooper said at the Republican forum was when he was whining about losing his signs and how much they cost. Hell, Doug, it's not like you paid for them!
For the record, every incumbent who voted to appropriate Cindy Wilson's recreation funds and spend it themselves will feel the impact of that decision at the polls. The anger over that arrogance is widespread and has stamina.
Anyway, Queen, there they are. And as far as I'm concerned, the bet is between you and I alone. I know I would enjoy dinner with you. I have no such assurance about dining with some of these others.
Good luck. See you on the 11th.

So you don't think what comes out next in District 4 will hurt McAbee? Bill had a relatively bad week last week.

This week will get worse. Stay tuned.....

I'm still staying tuned for that Catergate video that Rick Adkins promised us.
