Cindy Wilson Explains the VW Plant Loss
At the GOP County Council debate, I heard a statement from Councilwoman Cindy Wilson that I found to be most astounding. When asked about Anderson County's loss of the Volkswagen plant, I understood her to say that she had talked to someone in Columbia (probably @ the Dept. of Commerce) and was told that Gov. Mark Sanford insisted that the plant be located on the other side of Columbia, near Orangeburg. And that VW was not agreeable to that.
Cindy Wilson appeared to be suggesting that Mark Sanford was instrumental in Anderson County, and the State of South Carolina, losing a probable 3000 plus jobs.
I am surprised that the press did not pick up on that. It would be great if someone could find a recording of her statement and verify what I understood her to say. If I heard wrong, then the point is ceded. It is one of those things that you just do not expect to hear.
